This RTS, based on Warhammer 40,000, has me excited for obvious reasons. But i think a few people here may find it of interest...
Apparently, there will be actually be 5 races (not 4 as its says below):BUT its 4 playable in Multiplayer, plus a race that will be enemy-only in signle-player. Confirmed Races are Space Marines(Genetically-engineered super soldiers), Chaos Space Marines (traitorous marines), and Orks (orcs with guns and spaceships.) Most of the speculation points to the fourth and fifth races being Eldar (Futuristic space elves who rawk.), Daemonhunters(Super-Space mariens and ordianry humans who fight Demons of Chaos), or Necrons (Undead metal skeletons) - Game will have a pause mode in which you can issue orders. - Races: Marines, Orks, Chaos + one secret faction - Single player campaings for all 4 races - 20 multiplayer maps - game will have seizable objectives just like the tabletop - morale factors in battle, units will perform worse if morale is low - 2 resources: energy and "requisition" (probably like reputation in the Panzer General series) gained by securing objectives - Buildable immobile turrets - new units bought with reputation are not built, but flown in - Unit upgrades can be programmed in advance and are applied automatically as soon as they become availiable Relic's news stuff about it. IGN Interview Images: (links to large ones) ![]() Dats a Big Tank.... This years sale at Wal-Mart got out of hand quickly... Into the valley of death, went the nutter space marines killing orky's all the way! The class of 40,984 reunion... so, anyone else think this is looking good? Just from what I've seen, that looks great. It has great graphics, and some of the features you listed look good, especially how you get new troops. Also, I am a SC fan, and this does look like something many of us would enjoy.

Anyone still playing this game?
I've just finished the first campaign, which is great fun, and now I'm having a go at the old skirmish, it's amazing fun I have to say. I think I might get the second and third game to this soon, I love 40K, it's so great! I was thinking about trying online battles, but then I thought there's probably a lot of peeps like on Generals who play every day and go around calling everyone N000000B!! LOOOL! as they beat their 74,403rd victim, and I'd rather not be put off this game, so will probably avoid that for now. It just lags... the entire time. And this guy's on a mad internet connection. To be honest, SC still does it for me -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Online play can be a decent experience if you know who you're playing.
You want Winter Assault and Dark Crusade if possible. Dark Crusade alone adds 2 races, and makes a great game even greater through the tweaks. Winter Assault, in hindsight, can't be recommended for it's rather short campaigns but can for the addition of the Imperial Guard, who have the most fun artillery in the game. Get it 2nd hand or cheap, which ironically enough is easiest via getting the anthology, only £18 on Amazon.co.uk, or rather, AmaCoN [/giveR51monies], compared to about £24 for Winter Assault ALONE. In shops it sells for about that or higher IIRC just for the expansions on their own, so 2 expansions for the price of 1 that should be able to just install onto the DoW copy you already have. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |
