Anyone looking forward to the Tomb Raider Anniversary game coming out this year?
From the screen shots I've seen, it looks like a remake of the original. That would be nice, but apparently it's only inspired by the original. Still cool either way.
Anywho, has anyone here played the original, and loved it?

I remember really loving the original game. I've heard about this anniversary, but Im not sure how excited I am about it. They keep stressing that its NOT the original game, but all I would really want would be an upgrade of the original with better textures and gameplay.

Well, I have only played three Tomb Raider games - I played the original one a LONG time ago, and thought it was okay. I then played one of its sequels, I think it was Gold or something, and thought it was on the lamer side. I then played Legend over winter break, and thought it was actually quite fun. I played all three of them through a friend of mine that has been a superfan of the series since its inception, and chances are I'll play Anniversary eventually by hanging out at his house sometime this year. The verdict: Tomb Raider: Legend (hehe... TRL...) was a great comeback for the series, and I wish TR Anniversary the best of luck.

I never played any of the games for more than 20 minutes, but I did read that the Anniversary is the original game but with some new areas to take advantage of new control schema that came around later in the series (and of course all the graphical upgrades too).

Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? Or perhaps buying a really good looking shirt?

I. Love. Tomb. Raider. I.

In fact, I love everything about the platformer, from the non-soundtrack to the learning curve to the sometimes-insane secrets. Lost Valley, Tomb of Qualopec, St. Francis' Folly, and The Cistern have been heavily anticipated on my end, and I'll definitely be pickin' this up. The only thing I am not anticipating is the TR:Legend engine, which I found egregiously sloppy/easy -- the pinpoint accuracy needed in the original is one of my favorite aspects.

Lord knows the TR1 fanbase is fond of those fun glitches, like jumping through locked doors, reappearing atop pillars, diagonal ledge-catching. etc., but I'd like to see some of the buginess removed with the same air of mystery intact.
