First of all, don't let the topic name make you think that this is an FFVI topic, it's not.
FFVIa seems to be the last GBA game that interests me. Does this seem the same way for you? Does anyone else know of any GBA games that I should watch out for? Because all the rest seem to be like: Barbie: Fashion Capers, or Power Rangers Kung-Fu Wars, and such. -------------------- |

Well, I don't really buy GBA games, but I haven't seen any interesting releases lately. Even on the emulation front, it's mostly braindead cartoon- and Disney-based nonsense that coincides with the newest cinema release (and stuff I wouldn't touch w/ a ten-foot keyblade). I'm sure there's some classic game that hasn't been remade by now, but no upcoming RPGs that spring to mind. Looked around for prospectives, and...it's lookin' a little grim. Hopefully that can be blamed on lack of info.

The GBA games I have are:
Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The New Age Okay-ish RPGs, but not exactly riveting. I still haven't finished the first one. The gameplay mechanics seem pretty interesting, though. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past I can't tell you anything about the Four Swords game attached, because I don't have a friend with a GBA and another copy of the game, but the main game is a remake of the SNES version. It's almost completely identical to the original, so everyone good to be said about that applies here, too. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap Short, but cute and still fun to play. It's a Zelda game; what more needs to be said? Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow There's also "Circle of the Moon" and "Harmony of Dissonance", but the former got too hard for me and the latter never really held my attention. AoS is lots of fun for anyone who likes the castleroid games. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga This is still in my list of games to play, but if it's as entertaining as the other Super Mario RPG sequels, it will be a lot of fun. Sword of Mana I prefer Final Fantasy Adventure and never actually made it through this one, but, shrug. Some people seemed to like it. Of course, if you have an actual GBA (or GBP) and not a DS, you can look to older games, too. I'd recommend the older Zelda games, FFAdventure... -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Of course it's on its last legs. The only two games on the preorder list at Gamestop and EB for the GBA right now are FF VI Advance and Metal Slug Anthology. That's it. The GBA is basically as good as dead, and Nintendo is only wrapping up projects at the last minute before they kill it off entirely. Even then it's had a more graceful demise than the Gamecube or XBox, which were all but abandoned after their older siblings were put on the market.
So yeah, RIP, GBA. -------------------- |

Not a GBA person either. I only bought myself an SP so I could play Final Fantasy 4 Advance and Final Fantasy 5 Advance (I'd rather get the original model since it was much easier to hold on to and push buttons without having my thumbs to close to each other).
There really aren't that many interesting GBA games out there that fit my tastes, though. |

The GBA's biggest problem is the lack of original content. In its beginnings, my main concern was with the sheer amount of "xyz Advanced" games coming out for it. "Oh hey, it,s that SNES game everyone liked but with revamped graphics!" Luckily some great games came along like the Castlevanias and Metroids.
The GBA is an old system. The new systems seem to be getting all of the attention nowadays, and seeing original, interesting material on the GBA is growing more and more unlikely. I remember when the NES died. I think one of the last games that came out and got any coverage was a megaman game. Then... poof. That was that. :_: This isn't what's happening here. The GBA is still alive and kicking, and will be for another year or two at least. But there's a definit drop in the amount of quality titles for it. ...where's my Tetris, darn it? -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |
