All right, we have a music thread already, but what about a sound thread? Here are some of my favorites.
Flare is such an awesome spell (because of the sound). The first time I encountered the spell, during the battle with Atma Weapon, I was scared half to death (well, not quite, but you know the drill). That spell sounds so cool. Rasp makes an awesome sound. I can't really explain why. It just does. And when you're battling Tritoch and it's casting Rasp every other turn (on top of that freaky battle theme), it's just ... eerie. Very intriguing. Fallen One ... the first time I encountered Kefka and he did this spell, I thought, "How harmless!" Then I looked at my HP. And Goner. The sweet sweet sound of someone with the Paladin Shield (or mega m-evade, whatever) blocking flare star. Sheen, oops, sorry about that! Looks like you didn't get me, too bad.

Gotta love that "boing" sound when jumping off of ledges.

I personally have always enjoyed the sound of Ultima, the building up dramatic sound then the "shwing!" and light flash....made me feel SO powerful! same feelign i got by casting meteor!!! WHA HA HA!
The thing I didnt like abotu flare and rasp was the bubbly sounding part, when the little spheres come out of you (i dont know how else to explain it) Noise blaster has a cute lil sound to it. BUM RUSH!!!! SWEET SOUND!!! I love a lot of the sounds in ff6, but i noticed that the ps version changed some of the sounds from the original snes sounds.... That 'click' sound when you open a chest was cool and also the sound when you slice an enemy with Scimitar or Odin/Raiden.

The critical hits when you attack the enemy with your weapon, and this flash comes up, with a powerful damage! oh yea!

aw man all mine have been said. all the different battle sounds of different bosses. shadow when he throws something and it makes that THWAK! sound, and then the silent BOOMPH! as the enemy dies hehehe
