Hmm I think he'd know if he'd beaten him.
You could try what I did: hold R1 and keep spinning until you see him. Remember you need to keep crashing into him to be able to fight. I didn't know that the first few times I fought him ![]() This post has been edited by sweetdude on 22nd December 2006 12:08 -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. The Ultimate weapon can be a real pain in the backside. What you have to remember is that it eventually stops. (though it can take it's sweet time at certain points...) I've known it to stop at:
Mideel Gogona Reactor Nibelhiem Rocket Town Midgar Northern Crator and at it's final point, near Cosmo Canyon What I do is, if I lose Weapon, then I leave it for a while then check all these areas and I usually find it then. Hope that can help ![]() Edit: oh also, you first find him near junon floating in a crater it seemed to have made. Occasionally He can e found above the crater lake near Junon.
I've found him there several times. Edit also what point at the game are you at, it sounds like you just got the submarine. You may just need to continue with the game for a while This post has been edited by Cloud_Strife510 on 31st December 2006 00:38 -------------------- "Have you ever seen a baby do that before?" |

Quote "... I've only played it once and I remember EVERYTHING thats in it ..." You sure you remember everything? (*envies*) I've played this game over, like, ten times and still I don't remember every bit of it. At least not without concentrating for a while... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, getting to the subject: The "first" battle against Ultimate is done at the crater in Junon area (where the forest was located) it's one big hole with a Flying monster hovering above. After the first battle, and the ones afterwards (except the last), he'll took of and you'll have to chase him. Finding Ultimate is just like that. Fly around until you find it and bump on it about 3-4 times (I clearly remember bumping on it 4 times, but all FAQs say "3 or 4"). After that look for one of the aforementioned places (towns, citys, etc.) and he should be there. Ultimate have got a 100000 HP, after it drops for about 15000-10000, he'll fly of to Cosmo Canyon for the final battle. His HP is not healed in-between battles, it keeps the same as it was at the last battle, so pummeling his as effectively as you can should reduce your "chasing" time. Might I suggest something........
Go to the Gelnika and Morph all the enemies there. You can get an unlimited supply of: Power Source Magic Source Mind Source Luck Source Gaurd Source Speed Source .......and thats it. you can basically become a god. While youre down there you might want to pick up the double cut materia and level that up until you get a couple of those. do this until youve got a master party |

I think I know what's wrong, the first time you can encounter him again after Mideel is near the end of the second disc.
Possible spoilers: highlight to view If I recall from after you have defeated diamond weapon onward, though if he hovers over Midgar you're stuck because when you approach the city you have to enter it. -------------------- In the end, it boils down to two simple choices. He doesn't appear right after you fight him in Midel, I think Diamond Weapon has to be around and then he will appear, don't know if I'm right, but that's always the case in my game.

I have a similar problem. I can't find Ultimate weapon...And I've checked all the towns and I spend hours flying through the planet ( and its not a big planet). I don't know what happened, I fought him after Diamond weapon events, and then I didn't bother on chasing him, and now I'm on CD 3 and he disappeared...and that's mean I can't fight with Ruby Weapon, or getting the Final Attack materia. Does he simply vanish if you don't kill him on CD2?

He should still be around. I remember having to do the Shinra attack stuff then swap discs before killing him so I'm 99% sure that he's still flying about somewhere... I still recommend spinning in circles; or flying in circles is you want a bigger arc. This paid off for me although I felt a bit sick at one point.
![]() I didn't realise there was a link between Final Attack and Ultima Weapon though. Can you not fight the special battles unless he's dead? -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Quote (sweetdude @ 13th February 2007 15:48) I didn't realise there was a link between Final Attack and Ultima Weapon though. Can you not fight the special battles unless he's dead? You can only do the special Battle Square battles if Cloud has Ultima Weapon, Omnislash and W-Summon. Since Ultima Weapon is the prize from defeating Ultimate Weapon, yes, you do have to defeat it. |

Yeah you really should be able to find him between Junon and Fort Condor. I had this problem myself. He's in a small crater which is kinda dark so you might not see him at first. Make sure you're facing away from Fort Condor.

I'm actually going through "Ultimate Weapon chasing" myself.
I've found that if rotating the camera and/or flying in a circle for some time hasn't done anything, I try to find something else to do like leveling up or doing a sidequest. (I've also gone to Gold Saucer, but I don't think that activity within Gold Saucer contributes to my following suggestion.) A specific example: I fought Ultimate Weapon a few times already, but I couldn't spot him for my next chase/battle. So I got frustrated and went to breed and race my chocobos (I finally got to breed my newborn black one for a gold one). When I got into the Highwind after doing ten or so chocobo races, I spotted the black figure far in the distance (without even trying to rotate or fly in a circle). So I seized the opportunity. I did the bumping, the following and the battling --when he FINALLY chose a spot to draw energy from. After that battle, I tried to follow him immediately. No such luck. He was nowhere in sight. So instead of spinning my camera around, I decided to work on filling in my Enemy Skills (they were all a bit mismatched). Three Enemy Skills later (that's right, I didn't have to go nuts looking for him), I spotted him again. I think the important thing to keep busy, but to drop everything once he comes to you. It's only a matter of time before you'll see him again. Instead of agonizing over the minutes and seconds spent spinning, you'll be productive doing something else and he'll just fly into your vision. (I'd actually given up looking for him, and he ended up flying right into the Highwind.) The easiest and most efficient method would be to focus only on Ultimate Weapon and spin however many times you need to find him. I suggest preoccupying yourself when spinning fails to work. (My experience is about 50% spinning the camera and 50% spinning not working/resorting to preoccupation) This post has been edited by Hiryuu on 27th March 2007 08:22 -------------------- Hidden Gaming Addiction |
