If ANYONE gets added, it needs to be Pit from Kid Icarus. He needs a return to the spotlight, I love that guy. I heard a rumor that Nintendo is unveiling another mascot, when the Revolution launches, complete with his own game. So I suppose it's possible he/she could be in there as well.

How about proposing that it include the following?
Mew, Diddy Kong, Toad, Tatanga?, Slippy?, Peppy?, Wart?, Shyguy/Snifit, Kamek?, Goomba, K. Rool (kaptain and king forms), Dedede, Meta-Knight This post has been edited by Glenn Magus Harvey on 15th December 2005 21:34 -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I'd be a fan of Pit making it in; I rented his NES game I think once, but I loved the Game Boy version of his game to death.
I've never been a hardcore fan of SSB or SSBM, but I think the games are fun. I prefer more traditional fighting games, even if the SSB[M] community is probably larger than the VF, SC, Tekken, and DOA communities combined. For a short list, I'd add Hector, Conker, DeDeDe, Kamek, Prince Peasley, Wario, and Ridley. Shame on you, GMH, for not including Ridley. -------------------- |

Well I don't know much about Nintendo characters but I own the game.
First they need no more clone movesets. And especially no more Pokemon. The craze is over deal with it. More Fire Emblen characters for sure, that would definately appeal to the older auidence. And finally alot more female characters for a fighting game SSB is too male orientated. |

I don't think they can add mallow or geno. Both of them are square enix characters. And that's even more so for FF characters. Great idea for Dedede though. Hey! what about the Golden Sun characters? I'm not sure if they fall under the same conflict as Square characters, but Camolet also did Mario Golf and Mario Tennis so maybe.

I can't think of any new characters right now. But it might be cool if they put tetris piece's in for weapons.

Pit from Kid Icarus should definitely be included. Someone told me that they couldn't include him because Nintendo doesn't own the rights to the character, but as far as I can tell this is false. I think maybe Little Mac from Mike Tyson's Punch Out would be another good addition, since he's already geared towards being a combat fighter anyway.
I can't think of many other Nintendo games that haven't had a character included, but of the staple games that already have characters, some new ones I'd like to see would include Wario (as long as he's not a Mario clone), Toad, Ridley, and Diddy Kong. As other people have mentioned, they've pretty much exhausted the list of major characters. I don't think we'll see many new faces in this game, probably just a lot of old favorites returning. |

As GMH said, Meta Knight and Dedede would be awesome additions, as would Goomba, I think. But the characters I REALLY want to see in it are Petey Pirhana and Hammer Bros. I am best with slow and immensely powerful characters (Bowser and Ganondorf are among my best, as is G&W...but he doesnt count). I was also considering Boo, but I don't know what attacks he would have besides just floating around, teleporting, and suiciding.

I'd love to see some Ninja Turtles. Oh yeah.
Come on, they had enough sucess on the nes / snes to earn them a slot. If not? No more Pokemon, to say the least, though I have to confess it was fun to play as Mewtwo in SSB:M. Honestly though? All that matters to me is that Link remains a constant in the series. -------------------- Okay, but there was a goat! |

I'm probably alone on this one, but I say keep the 'clones.' Curously, most of my best characters are clones of other characeters.
There's enough diffrence between Captian Falcon and Ganondorf to make them unique. They share alot of the same moves yes, but the way they are executed and thier effectiveness vary. Ganon's up-tilt is so very diffrent from Falcon's. Falcon's is rather quick and not terribly useful. Ganon's takes forever to charge, but it does an ludicrous amount of damage if you can pull it off. Falcon's Falcon Punch is slow, but not nearly as slow as Ganon's version; but Ganon's is an instakill at around 35%. Mario and his well educated clone are another better example of diffrences among clones. Mario is pretty quick and agile, he can wall jump. He's got a terrible fireball. He also lacks a bit in the power department. The Evil Dr. can't wall jump and isn't quite as quick (not terribly noticable though) But some of his attacks are much more devatating. Doc's pills are one of the strangest projectiles out there, it's kind of hard to know where it's going to hit. His side smash lacks the length of Mario's, but has a lot more oomph. Pokemon isn't cool anymore, I know very well, but they still have fans. You can't really just get rid of a character. Really, what if they got rid of the girls in Dead or Alive 4? There'd be no point to the game. But finally to the point, I'd like to see Pit and Little Mac. Pit can be awesome at a range, Little Mac can be only melee. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Really, what if they got rid of the girls in Dead or Alive 4? There'd be no point to the game. Well either you've never played DOA 4 and are just going off on it because of it's less then spectacular prequels, or you have played it, and got severely owned. At least those are the only explainations I can think of. It's a great game, and IMO has the potential of becoming the 360's SSBM. But on topic, the character's I'd like to see have basically all been stated. The main ones I want are Diddy, Dixie and Ridley. |

Okay I thought of some characters they should put in. Little Mac from "Mike tysons puch out!" (As mentioned above), Mike jones from "Star tropics" the guy from "kung fu" maybe?, Diddy kong of course, Bombman might be cool, And maybe some other character from the f-zero series. Captain falcon is one lonely man.

I figure Sonic and Knuckles would be a good addition, or maybe Shadow with his gun

As much as I love Sonic I doubt it would happen. Unless Sega signed a contract and it was SSB Nintendo vs Sega that'd go off the shelves so fast it isn't funny. Plus there so many Sega characters to use. That would be a dream come true.

Quote (laszlow) Shame on you, GMH, for not including Ridley. To you, laszlow, and to Phunbaba: I actually considered Ridley. However, if anything, he should be a hidden superboss, not a playable character. Unlike the stars of the show--the Nintendo characters that actually fight it out in the arenas--Ridley seems to me much more like the imperial spectator who'd watch the action from his personal booth. Ridley is supposed to be pwnage. Making him a playable character would mess that up. Quote (No-Name) Bombman might be cool Well, Bombman is a Megaman series character and therefore a copyright of Capcom, so Nintendo definitely won't use that. If you're talking about Bomberman, that character is copyright Hudson Soft, not Nintendo, so sorry, no Bomberman. And now for an almost completely ridiculous suggestion: The Dog, from Duck Hunt. Quote (strikerbolt @ 6th January 2006 01:56) I had another thought: The main girl from Fire Emblem (GBA version)... You probably mean Lyn, from Fire Emblem 7. I'd be a bigger fan of Hector making it in, but the more FE, the better. And Phunbaba, DOA 4 is a rather good fighting game, and I'm having a blast with it (I've almost ashamedly been a DOA fan since DOA 2 for the Dreamcast), but in no way does it become the phenomenon that SSB and SSBM were. Hell, I own a 360 in part, and I still think it's going to finish last in this generation of console wars. If I only had ready access to that 360 (and I definitely won't once college starts up again), then I'd challenge you online, as I play a pretty fierce Hayate and, Gen Fu, but alas I can't. -------------------- |

I would advocate Ridley in the game, but prefer if Metroid made the cut as playable. Sure, it's ugly at first, but when you hear the baby cry, it's adorable. It should hover only above ground, never fly though. I'm pretty sure Metroids never stayed in the air indefinitely. Think about it, it would be THE grapple character in the game.
Clones should be mesh-swaps rather than occupy slots. Mario/Dr., Pikachu/Pichu, Link/Young, Marth/Roy should share their slots like Zelda/Shiek. This way,you open alot more room for roster without saturating it. New slot-swaps could be Mewtwo/Mew, Samus/Dark Samus, and Yoshi/Trooper. Kirby has long been overdue a partner, so he deserves both Metaknight and Dedede. If you want the best idea of what characters to add to the roster, check the SSBM trophies. Those are characters that were good enough for trophies, but not playable. |

I saw on another forum that someone suggested Lyon from RE4, but I think he's too serious to be on the game, as FE characters are the most serious that I've seen. But I also think that King K. Rool might make a good clone of Bowser. I also like Hector and Ephraim as specific Fire Emblem characters.

My only request would be that they never ever remove Ness. He's an all-time favorite that annoys my friends to no end.
As for character add-ins? Battletoads, I think it's pretty self-explanatory. The Double Dragon characters would also make a great add. I'd also like to see less Pokemon stuff. SSB:M seemed to be dominated by Pokemon. But I wouldn't say to go so far as to remove it, as it's become very much a part of the series. The Poke Balls as an item were great, but the game could do with less actual pokemon playable characters. This post has been edited by TheEvilEye on 14th February 2006 15:54 |

Battletoads and Double Dragon isn't Nintendo, and neither is Sonic. Yes, Ninty owns the rights to Sega's lil Hegdehog, it still isn't happening.
Pokemon has become a large part of the fanbase, therefore they must be well represented. I only wish they'd use better ones. Jigglypuff? Pichu? C'mon! You were on the right track with Mewtwo, man! Aside from Lyn/Hector/Ike, I'd love to see Ridley in the game. Well, I figured since they own the rights.... oh well, one can certaintly dream.
As for pokemon, my main argument is that they should pull it so it STOPS being a major part of the fanbase. Sure, pokemon was cool when we were ten, but all things must eventually end. And its high time that pokemon stopped existing in any shape or form, so it can stop polluting the world with its suck (the only word that does it justice) |
