I saw on RPGfan.com that FFI and FFII are PSP bound, so maybe that has something to do with it.

A really good FFX-3 would be a prequel as Braska, young Auron and Jecht doing the pilgrimage. With such characters as Chappu, Wakka, young Kimahri with a Kimahri horn, Lulu wearing just one belt and Kinoc all making appearances. If done well... Then there's FFVIII. The only area that I think would be good is... Possible spoilers: highlight to view Laguna leading the Esther resistance, overthrowing Adel, and then taking over the Presidency himself. Why they didn't have a flashback where you could play though that is beyond me. Would've been the best part in the game. Whatever Squenix gives us, nothing will stop me getting goosebumps from hearing the initial music when Biggs jumps off the train in FFVII. I say be thankful that they're at least still involved in the old games so long as we are. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Truly, no one has an excuse not to have played FF1 and 2 now. God knows there are enough versions out except a PC version. Or is that next?
I doubt that's our "surprise" announcment, but it could very well be something mundane-ish like going cross platform or even abandoning PS3. Or returning to the PC. Or some huge anthology. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

about the braska auron jecht game, I really don't think that would work. I mean, not only do already KNOW what happened it their story, but it really was no different than the one you already played through. They took the exact same journey, only didn't really succeed. Sure there would be different dialogue, but you'd basically be repeating ffx.

For me, the characters let it down and made it much less of a game. Now if that was changed and a few extra optional bosses added... I wouldn't mind playing what I already know - if it was a fun game. Oh, and Jecht plays for the Kilika Beasts! You play them through they're "glory years" as we've heard. -------------------- Scepticism, that dry rot of the intellect, had not left one entire idea in his mind. Me on the Starcraft. |

Hmm well personally i dont think they nessicarily do the whole "remake a game" angle for it, i think they might release like a gold collectors pack or something. What i mean by that is a annivery pack that included all the games in the final fantasy series so far, maybe have some charecter posters of peoples favorite charecters from each game. Chornologie time lines for each game, Bio's on some of the charecters, and perhapse some kind of commemerative action figure to go with it or some. I mean thats what companys usally do for the 20th aniversery of a product. Thought this is just pure speculation on my part. Personally though i think it'd be a tad dumb to produce a remake of a remake.

Forgive me for dredging this topic back to the surface, but what do you all suppose are the odds of Square making a non-online version of FFXI? I mean, that would be one announcement I'd like to hear.

RPGaming is getting more and more online, and all genres of gaming are emphasizing online content and interactivity more than ever; why would Square-Enix want to re-release an MMORPG that's nearly five years old and remove the MMO part? I severely doubt something like that is ever happening. -------------------- |

more info on the secret announcement
a magazine advert in japan related to the 20th anniversary of FF contains the following statement: "The evolution will never stop, the series continues ... and the Final Fantasy that nobody knows will enter in scene." magazine scan links: http://www.ff-xiii.net/images/scans/126separty.jpg http://www.ff-xiii.net/images/scans/126separty2.jpg so the announcement will be a new unheard of FF could it be FFXIII Haersis? |

Final Fantasy: Ring Of Fates - Nintendo DS.
Final Fantasy: XIII Agilo (something) - Mobile Final Fantasy Versus XIII. AFAIK, those are the unheard of titles so far. Advent Children: Complete? Sorry everyone who thinks Square should leave FFVII. |
