as most of you know...
Possible spoilers: highlight to view There are three paths to take in Norther crater. When you send individual member to a specific location, they pick up an item and will give you that item in the end (except yuffie if no one goes with her, I heard) now my question is, as long as Yuffie doesn't steal any item, will you get all the items once you go back to all 3 paths? For example, if there is item a, b, c, and d and whoever went there gave you item "d", will rest of items (a, b, and c) remain in the same place? or is it completely random, not letting you get one of uber items by chance? (shield, magic counter,w-magic,mega-all, errr you name it). This post has been edited by Bismark87 on 23rd February 2007 23:31 -------------------- I will be there... |

I don't know the answer to that question. but if you look at the walk through it will tell you how to get all of the items

I'm pretty sure I've got two Mega Alls before by being given one from the party that took that path, then going back for another, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for all the items.

You can get another Mystle too. I remember taking only Cloud down one of the paths then going around the entire area to get the most out of the item collection. I don't know who gives what, but I'm sure you can do it this way.

Okay, there are two different ways of doing this, depending on what items you want two of. For most peopel, this would be the Mystile, so I'll give the directions for that:
- Send Everyone apart from Cloud down the Right path, and manually take Cloud down the Left A path, and collect everything on the way. - When you reach the second gathering place, DO NOT TALK TO THE OTHER PARTY MEMBERS. Head straight back up the Left B path, and collect all the items on the way. - When you reach the top, go down the Right path and collect all the items, including the Mystile. - When you get to the bottom, you will have all the items from all the paths, and when you talk to your party members, will be given duplicates, including the third Mystile. If you would prefer two copies of the MegaAll materia, then take Cloud down the Right path, and send the others down the left path. Head back up Left B, and then down Left A, and you will be given a MegaAll on top of the one you obtained yourself. Obviously, this tactic requires Cloud being able to fend for himself, so don't do it if he will easily die. Hope this helped. (Just did it myself, actually. Trial and error is a wonderful thing.) |

Just so I get this straight...
So as long as you take Right Path or Left Path A, then Left Path B (to go back up) and then take the remaining path back down (Left Path A or Right Path, respectively)...you'll be able to collect all the items once with Cloud and then you get duplicates when the party members bring back items. Is that all applicable only if you don't take anyone in Cloud's party and send everyone else down a single path? So the described method wouldn't work if I took Cloud alone and then split the remaining party in two and sent them down the other paths? Or if I had others in Cloud's party? (Pardon me if these are unusual questions. I haven't actually gotten to this part yet. Still trying to get Omnislash...) Essentially, I'm wondering if the instructions have to be followed exactly. If they do, I guess that would explain having to choose between collecting two Mystiles or two Mega-All's. (Since you are only able to make the complete rounds with Cloud only if you send one big party down one of the two routes.) And as a side note: At the end of the second disc, 2.16 - Raid on Midgar, you can find the first Mystile and an elixir in two chests after fighting the Proud Clod. (This is right before you fight Hojo.) -------------------- Hidden Gaming Addiction |

Obviously, you'll only get duplicates of the items found on the path you send the others down. Quote Is that all applicable only if you don't take anyone in Cloud's party and send everyone else down a single path? I think to get the final (i.e. best) item, you have to send EVERYONE down the other path (although I may be wrong). If you're willing to risk it, then save and give it a try, but if Cloud is strong enough, I'd say its better to stay on the safe side. Quote So the described method wouldn't work if I took Cloud alone and then split the remaining party in two and sent them down the other paths? You don't choose whether you send people down the left A or left B paths, you just decide left or right, and thats all that matters. So you either send Cloud left, and the rest right, to receive two Mystiles in the end, or you send Cloud right, and the rest left, to receive two MegaAlls in the end. Quote Or if I had others in Cloud's party? I think everyone else has to go down the same path to get the best item, but I may be wrong. Quote (Pardon me if these are unusual questions. I haven't actually gotten to this part yet. Still trying to get Omnislash...) Its quite alright, thats exactly what the forums are for! Asking questions. I managed to get enough BP for Omnislash and W-Summon in the space of two hours; as long as Cloud is good enough, you can just win whilst getting Half HP/MP or All Materia Broken. Quote Essentially, I'm wondering if the instructions have to be followed exactly. If they do, I guess that would explain having to choose between collecting two Mystiles or two Mega-All's. (Since you are only able to make the complete rounds with Cloud only if you send one big party down one of the two routes.) I think it has to be followed exactly, although I've never bothered trying different methods. If your interested, just use your Save Crystal at the first gathering place and try different combinations. I'd be interested to hear your results. Quote And as a side note: At the end of the second disc, 2.16 - Raid on Midgar, you can find the first Mystile and an elixir in two chests after fighting the Proud Clod. (This is right before you fight Hojo.) Thanks, I was struggling to remember where you get the first one. |

I'd be glad to experiment! Though I think it'd be difficult for me to find a good block of time to devote to just that. (My husband doesn't want me turning into a gaming addict.)
Hmm... Also, do people go back to the world map after collecting the items? I would think that it's a bit tedious and long-winded, but worth it if you want to level up the new materia. I would like to know because I don't like spending hours and then realizing that they weren't worthwhile. But by that same accord, I don't want to underutilize the new goodies. -------------------- Hidden Gaming Addiction |

Well the best place to level them up is in fact in the Northern Crater itself, on the left A path against Magic Pots and Movers - just make sure you hve enough Elixers!
It isn't actually that tedious getting back onto the World Map, and the items can be very useful against the Weapons, so its up to you really. |

You may get all the items from the 3 paths, plus the items from all your party members, except one i think, i remember picking up counter materia, and then tifa gave me another counter materia, the other party members gave me elixirs and sources, but red XII didn't give me anything, not sure why..
