I have a few of these but I don,t have internet access at the moment (taking steps to fix that - it's a long story that mainly boils down to "Rune's a lazy bastard and when he isn't, his phone decides to stop working on him."
If memory serves well, the damage for most basic spells (fire, ice, bolt...) is your MAtk x 0.666 (or 0.333?) Most spells act like this to determine their power - they multiply the stat by a constant of sorts and then run it through an equation taking defense and special protections into consideration. Limit breaks are not a special case. They're treated just like any other attack/spell. I don't have any actual data on those, but I know from what little I've picked out of the game that the "main" algorithm used to calculate their damage is the same as the ones used for phyiscal and magic damage. Like with any special ability, actual damage may be based on different stats from one limit to another. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Do you really wanna know that?
Well, you - who are reading this - should be warned that it pretty much won't have any pratical usage for you. But if you're really curious, I advice reading these: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 'Battle Mechanics FAQ' by Terrence Fergusson. 'Enemy Mechanics FAQ' by Terrence Fergusson. 'Party Mechanics FAQ' by Terrence Fergusson. Edit I've recently learnt that you cannot link directly to their website (which is perfectly undestandable). Anyways this new one is a general link the that will take you to their webpage. (Maybe it is better this way.) Gamefaqs.com FF7 page --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A final note: the game mechanics are far too complex to be 'easily' described in a formula. So, if you want to learn all about, be ready to do a lot of reading... This post has been edited by Santa's Envoy on 28th January 2007 17:52 -------------------- "D'o!" - Homer Simpson |
