So...is anyone else a tri-Ace addict like me?! I just got this game today, I'm only in the first dungeon right now. So far, I'm enjoying it.
The story seems alot different, and more focused on the main, main characters (rather than an introductory scene for each Einherjar like the original, which, while adding heaps of depth and drama to the story, were quite tedious). A scene skip function is added though, like with SO3. The music seems more classical/orchestral now. Not that that's bad (I love all the music so far, especially the battle theme!), but I'm used to Sakuraba doing mostly rockin' tunes with his wild synth flute/vocals/reverb/crazy organ. I do know that Incarnation of Devil is in this game, so that's good. The graphics are beautiful. The FMVs are spectacular of course, but even the gameplay graphics are detailed. The battle system! Wow! Lots more strategy in this, and a bit of a real-time flair to it. This game looks like it won't be so easy like the first VP game (which is a good thing). But, to put it short, if you've played the original Valkyrie Profile, or played the recent PSP port, please give this game a shot! It's mighty different from it's predecessor, but I don't think it's anything to Chrono Cross over. -------------------- |

Glad i found this topic. Just beat the game over Xmas break. I must say that this is the second best game i have ever played (behind FF6). I got into really quickly. the story seems dull at first, but it gets great within the first few hours of play. the battle system is flawless IMO. Alicia is the shiznit. love the characters! now i just gotta finish VP1, lol

Yes, they are similar, though Valkyrie Profile isn't really real-time. The first game has a psuedo-turn based system, the second has a more tactical but still action packed battle system.
You don't have to have played the first game to understand the story of the second, though it will help to better understand all the mythological terms in the world of the second game, and the plot twist of the second game won't seem so deus ex machina if you've played the first. But it isn't really necessary. Still, I'd play both games because they're both amazing. -------------------- |

Yes, they're both in the game. Though Freya has a different voice actor than she did in the first game (Veronica Taylor), but Lenneth is still voiced by Megan Hollingshead.
