Well, it's been a long time since i've attemped one of these. Well, i got off to a great start and beat the wielk with ease. then i managed to get threw to Figaro Castle and beat the Magitek Armor. The biggest challenge was Vargas, but i finally beat him. Now here the problem.

I'm at the Lete River, and i get through most of it pretty well. If i get hit, i use health with Banon and run away. No biggy right? Well, i get to Ultros and for a while everythings fine. First, all my characters have the best equipment they can have at this time period, except Banon because you can't equip him with stuff. I have not gained a single level so far, but he just murders me.

I use fire with Terra, Health with Banon, Pummel with Sabin, and Autocrossbow with Edgar. He'll first "Ink" somebody (Terra most of the time for me), and then he will say after Terra cast fire on him, Seafood soup, and attack her with something that will most likely kill her. I still got three people right, what the big deal? Well, then he will say after Sabin attacks will Pummel, "I hate muscle-heads!". He will attack Sabin and leave him with only like 15-22 hp left. After that he will use Tenicle and weaken my whole party, but luckly before he attacks i heal with Banon. After that, before i can do anything, he will unleash an attack after he says "You frighten..me!". That will be the end of Banon, and unluckly the end of everything. It's the same thing every time. Any help will do, and this is where I stand in equipment, relics, and stats:

(His default equipment and relics)

Any help would be very appreciated. Need it bad!

Thats a toughy...Honestly I try to do the exact same thing until i get setzer, then i play the game normally. In my game I managed to kill him before he did that. It took many a try, I dont think I had Sabin blitz, or terra use fire until I had done a lot of damage to him since the "special attacks" seemed to set him off...Sorry I cant be of more help.

Thanks anyway Basch, he's pretty tough when you just aren't power leveled, well i'll find a way to beat him somehow.

Uhh, Basch, what levels were you at? Where you still at the lowest levels you could be at, or did you gain a few?

exact levels and stuff except i think i gave terra 2 swords, i sacrificed the defense for damage as she doesnt have a whole lot of mp and it didnt seem like he did enough to terra to make that much of a difference. I was indeed at the lowest, and like I said I just did as much "fight" damage as i could before i used any special abilitys. When i felt like my doom was at hand I tryed using all the abilities and then he just died after i casted fire and did pummel.

honestly It was one of thoes moments in final fantasy where I was like, did I just do that?

Along with the battle against kefka. I didnt use any "add-ons" to not gain experience so i did gain some levels with 2 partys after that. but yeah man, keep crackin at it. If your still having trouble I can look at by digging one of my old save states out.

Although I dont think Sabin can true knight that attack against bannon as its like a sure hit.

What you always could do is level Banon; his level doesn't influence the main party in any way, and since he's the most important character to keep alive, increasing his HP is a good, good thing.

I'm guessing you didn't pick the RunningShoes from South Figaro? They help a bunch in this fight when equipped on Sabin, he's the main damage dealer. Terra and Banon should under no circumstance do anything but Def. until healing is needed, at which point they should.

Back Row Defending Banon, even at level 2, should survive a single-targe Tentacle hit. If the entire party is attacked by Tentacle, do NOT have Banon use Health. Instead, use Cure with Terra and have Banon on Def., otherwise he won't survive the next Tentacle which always will hit Banon alone.

The fight is entirely doable, though frustrating when you lose a few times. Good luck!
