It appears that Square and Disney's relationship will last beyond their game for the Playstation 2.

Square and Disney have plans to release a Kingdom Hearts movie.  There is no script for this movie as of right now, but it is in the works. Since there isn't even a script yet, it most likely will be quite sometime before this movie would be released to theaters. Not much information is known otherwise as of yet either.

Other plans for the Kingdom Hearts line include a possible television series and a sequel to the PS2 game.

Final Fantasy Insider

This brings up a popular discussion topic. Do video games translate well into movies?  Tomb Raider? I haven't seen it myself, but I heard it wasn't all that spectacular.  Mortal Kombat? Eh, it was alright. One of the few video game movies that I've watched more than once.  Super Mario Bros. the Movie? It was a tad bit different.  It also had bad luck in the timing of its release though.  Street Figher the Movie? I can't remember much about it so it couldn't have been all that great. It does have the redeeming fact of Ming Na playing Chun Li (*waves to Beth* She has nothing on you, Honey) Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within wasn't so bad  if you ignored the "Final Fantasy" in the title. I could go on and on, but I think you get the point. Video games do not cross over well into Hollywood.

That said, however, if there ever was any video game turned movie that had a chance of doing well, it would be this one. Especially with Disney working on it.  There are those who love and those loathe the company.  Personally, I'm indifferent. But whether one likes Disney or not, it has to be recognized that they have been quite successful.  I'm not sure how  big a role Square would play in its production. I can't see it being too large though after the hit the company took after FF:TSW didn't meet their expectations (That's probably a gross understatement, I know).  Their role will probably more conceptual than anything else.  I don't know if I'd go see or not, but can this movie possibly hurt Square Enix at all?
Let me know your feelings about it.

In my opinion, the fact of seeing a video game become a movie, at the very least, sounds cool. But over the past years, these movies have either met with bad script writing [Tomb Raider], not meeting the qualities of the game [Super Mario Bros.], or just not meeting expectations [Final Fantasy]. So, the concept of games to movies seems cool, but if the previous movies are any inclination of the next video game movies, then it isn't such a good idea.

HOWEVER, if Kingdom Hearts does come out in theater, then I think it'll have a better chance of standing than, say, Mario Bros. It's because they'd have Disney on their side. And being a big Disney fan when I was a kid, there was rarely a Disney movie a was bad [except for the direct-to-video ones. those sucked.] So, I'm neutral on the fact of them creating this movie. Maybe I should play the game first ^_^

OMG! Kingdom Hearts movie!
All sorts of Final Fantasy characters animated! Aiyaaaah!!!
I'd wanna see it! That'd be great! I personally loved the Final Fantasy movie.
Only thing I'm skeptical on is Disney animating Anime characters. Do you think maybe they'll have people in Japan animate it and realease it in Japan first? Oooooooh!
I want more info! Give it to me! Give it give it! More!

hopefully they'll stick to the plot. the thing about the FF movie was- it had a great plot and all, but where were the chocobos? you cant have Final Fantasy without chocobos! or magic....or flamin great summon monsters..or...

another videogame movie shot down by lack of staying on plot was resident Evil. good film, yes, but not really in with the game.

This better have Cloud Sephiroth and Aeris and Sephiroth better have a different voice actor not Lance Bass. Well in other words focus more on Final Fantasy.

Hmmm...this could look interesting, or they can screw it up all together. I'll be looking forward to it, though, at least for the moment.

well i think they already started on the 2nd game cause of the
secret ending..
SPOILER ALERT!  Highlight to view:
I really think rikku is going to be the main character in that game

As for the movie thing, i guess it would be ok if it didnt have
live actors, but its most likely going to be animated.
and I did heard some rumors about a tv series too.

As for final fantasy movie, it was pretty funny, when the kissing part came my friend was all

I'd love to see this movie! I love Disney even today(Those straight to video movies do suck!) And I loved KH, And Square is my alltime favorite gaming company! But hopefully KH the movie isn't live action!!! Where are they gonna find all those people with those funky haircuts??? I want to see this movie though, I can't wait to see Squall, Cloud, Cid, etc. in a movie!!! But if you ask me, Square Enix should make Final Fantasy I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII,VIII,IX, and X movies!!! They should port the game's scripts directly to the movie and make it exactly like the game, only like one big cutscene!!! That would rule!!! It's like, if you've already beat the games like 3 or 4 times like I have, and you want to live the experience again because it's so cool, but you don't feel like going through the game again, just pop in the movie and BANG!!! Final Fantasy goodness!
