Quote (Silver_Zombie @ 4th June 2007 18:06) Here in Poland it was never possible to buy a Super Nintendo because of the communism. All we had was Pegasus, a Soviet alternative. You could play all the SNES games on it I think, but it had no memory. You simply couldn't save a game on it. So my only experience with SNES is by playing on an emulator. And I love those games. FFIV, FFV, FFVI, Chrono Trigger and such are absolutely great. And, to be honest, I liked them better than most of 3D games I played. I liked the graphics in Chrono Cross or FFIX, where the maps were painted and only the sprites were 3D, but I just simply can't switch to a situation where the map is turning along with you. Yeah. I guess SNES is great :] Dude, you just made a silly statement. SNES was a 90s console, and was never sold here because the market hadn't sprung up yet back then down here. Pegasus, on the other hand, was a NES rip-off, the cartridges for which were not equipped with the memory hardware, as you remarked. As to the original topic, dunno, it's definetly one of the best systems ever, but is the one? I'd really have to think this over longer. -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. I don't think the SNES is the best system ever made, but I think that some of the games for it are some of the best out there. There is a difference, you know.

Ahhhh...memories. Many of my top 20 games were on the SNES and even the NES. FFVI, Legend of Zelda 1 and LttP, Super Mario 3 and Super Mario World, etc. FF6 was my fav. game until GTA Vice City and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic came out. Then FF12 topped them all.
![]() ![]() Too bad my SNES died long ago...all those great games gone and I'm left with only the PSX version of FF6. ![]() -------------------- "Sometimes I amaze even myself." -Han Solo, "Star Wars: A New Hope" |

Is SNES the best system ever made? Why, of course it is! Nothing else compares, and I should have a pretty good idea given the number of systems I own. To see that it is the best, you need only to experience a few key games: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (one of the most underrated games of all time), Super Punch Out!, and Kirby Superstars. In addition to these masterpieces, there are countless other amazing games that make the SNES my favorite system. Sega Genesis, while similar, lacks some of the great games of SNES, and therefore falls behind it on my scale.
The only problem is that I believe that FFT is the best game ever created, and its for the PS. Overall, however, the SNES is by far the best video gaming system ever created. |

Interesting reply about your country Zombie Palam, ive never heard such a story but it sounds like it didnt stop you, thats a true gamer
![]() In response to the header, yeah the SNES was and still is my favorite system(although Sega's Shining Force series is up there too!)for two major reasons. The excellent sound and music(which i believe was done by Sony at the time) and the amount of colors the system. My favorite games were FF4,FF6,Chronotrigger, Secret of Evermore, Secret of Mana, Metroid 3, Zelda, and EVO but i also loved it when they revamped the Mario series with Mario All-Stars(Mario2 was my favorite with the background details) and Ghouls and Ghost(first level with the graveyard scene). The things that \s good for us as fans of this great system is wee get a few of the games rereleased and some brand new games as a part of the Game Boy Advance. -------------------- "Death to Mystic Enemies" ~ Heckran "Say yer prayers Lynx! Totally agree. Just hooked my SNES up for the first time since I was 16 and wow, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Mortal Kombat 2, Killer Instinct, Super Mario World, Kirby All-Star, and a Link to the Past just to name a few reasons why this is one awesome system

My Super Nintendo was prolly the best and most reliable console I have owned, I had it for 8+ years, and it kept on trucking (currently in a box that needs to be unpacked)!!!
The first game I had for it was Bulls vs. Blazers, as that's what I bought with it at a Rummage Sale. I soon got Super Game Boy, the cool borders that were sometimes custom were pretty cool, I won't go into other games as they've been repeated beforehand. But I do believe that for its time, it was the best gaming console, and remained so until possibly the PS2, or Wii. But as far as gaming systems in general, Game Boy series woops all others. -------------------- "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter, don't mind." -Dr. Seuss |

I think a lot of the good will towards the SNES is well earned. It boasted fantastic games, audio, controllers, the whole nine yards.
The reason that I think it is still considered to be such a wonderful system is because there was such a gap jump between it and the NES. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |
