I'm not sure how well this is known, but I've read on these forums where someone created a pretty decent armor set for high Evade and MBlock.
However, they had their Illumina equipped on another character!!! ![]() Allow me to explain. It is possible to get very high Evade and MBlock stats, over 100. The perfect gear set is as follows: Illumina Aegis Shield Force Armor Green Beret Zephyr Cape Zephyr Cape Now, the Illumina alone gives 50% Evade and MBlock. The Zephyr Cape gives 10% to each (IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN), so we're up to 70% Evade and MBlock already. The Aegis Shield gives 20% Evade and 40% MBlock, so now we're up to 90% Evade and 110% MBlock. The Green Beret bumps up the Evade to 100% and the Force armor blasts the MBlock up to 140%. Now, I equipped all this on Celes. She had almost 150% MBlock and over 110% Evade. You might think this is overkill. Is it? Well, I tried it with more evened-out stats, with MBlock and Evade both either exactly or slightly over 100% to be fair. The result? She got hit sometimes. She failed to block a spell or two. With the gear I've listed here equipped on Celes, the only moves in the game that I observed even touching her at any time were Chupon's Sneeze in the colosseum, and Cactuar's (and at least one or two other monsters') Blow Fish. She blocked Magimaster's Ultima, Hidon's Grandtrain and even Kefka's Fallen One. There is not a spell or physical attack in the game that can touch her, to my knowledge, other than those two (which I'm assuming ignore stats). She blocks all other spells and attacks in the game, every single time, without fail. I've tested probably thousands of battles with this setup and she has never once gotten hit aside from Blow Fish. So, my question is: how well is this known? Surely I'm not the only person to ever put all this together and observe its powers. This post has been edited by Epochalypse on 24th November 2006 07:22 |

This is something that practically every FF6 fan knows. That aside, evade doesn't affect anything, high MBlock is all you need to worry about because a glitch screws up evade.

Well, basically, if you have 129% Mblock rating, nothing touches you.
It's due to a bug in the game that replaces Evade% with Mblock%. I'm not sure about the details, but basically evade doesn't matter at all and never did anything (hence why Dark status does crap). This is generally known strategy and the focus of achievement for FF6 LLG's and SCC's. It's not terribly difficult to do, either. Come the new version on the GBA, however, things will be a tad different and force us to use both the evade and mblock stats. Dark will also cause a problem, and hopefully Sketch will be fixed, Control will be done, and Gau's rages alphabetized. Let's just hope they don't add crap like "zomg Artic Wind" ![]() -------------------- "A little tight, but the price was right" - Locke "Oh, what a Fuddy Duddy" - Relm "..." - Shadow "I'm a General, not some love starved twit" - Celes "Although Edgar showers his attention on the ladies, most are smart enough to pay him no attention. Oh.
That sucks. (I do not communicate with a lot of FF6 fans, sadly, so I am left to discover this shit on my own.) |

Well, maybe you can try it on the GBA version, since (they had better) they should fix the overwhelming number of bugs in the game for it's remake.

They did some some decent amount of bug-fixing in FF V Advance (Kiss of Blessing is fixed, and I have yet to see anything screwy with !Jump and !Hide) so it actually looks like they'll make an effort on the subject.

That's good to know they are actually identifying and fixing bugs, although in a sense, the bugs kind of made the game what it was if you think about it... I guess the knowledge of the bugs will have to suffice
