Rumors had been bouncing around for the last couple days that a remaster or remake of the classic Squaresoft/Nintendo collaboration for SNES would appear at today's Direct, and so it was.
The original game released in 1996 and the original was packaged up for Virtual Console on Wii and Wii U, but never for Switch, and perhaps now we know why. The game's been redone with a very nice new engine, even with the slightly-squished look of the original isometric visuals intact.

The new version of the game will release on November 17, 2023. Digital preorders are available now; I assume there will be a physical release of the game as well, but those details are not yet available.

Peach looks a little too squished IMO. But maybe that's because she's sitting, not standing, in the flower bed?

But anyhow, I'm glad they're finally able to put something together and make this remake a reality.

The 3D look today won't look as impressive relative to its time, compared to the 3D graphics of the original, and I do have some vague concerns that the CGI might be a bit too smooth and not up to par with the more slapstick-cartoony sprite-based animations of the original.

On the other hand, it seems that there might be some interesting new innovations to the battle system.

But I hope this turns out great! This is one of the biggest games from the golden age of SNES RPGs, and probably the last of the big names to get a remake.

Yea, I believe it's because she's sitting down in the flower bed. They also have seemed to keep true to the "chibi" look like the original. I'm glad they stuck to a design unique to Mario RPG LOTSS. I'm beyond pumped for this!
