My final verdict with this classic.

Member of more than ten years. Member of more than five years. 
I came to a final verdict in the classic Final Fantasy Tactics game. The se7en classes I have narrowed it down to are in order from first to worse. They have fewer situational uses over other classes.
This is based on their pure class without Math Skill otherwise Calculator is 0 since it requires mastery of the spellcasters. Here are my preferences...
0: Calculator with access to all spells.
1: Ninja - Speed is key.
2: Monk - Healing is key.
3: Knight - Knight Swords are key.
4: Lancer - Solid Attacker.
5: Priest - Protection is key.
6: Summoner - Bypasses reflect with spells hitting only enemies.
7: Geomancer - Solid character when uncertain what to play.
Wizard, Oracle, and Time Mage's are good, yet their spells can be reflected by Reflect Mail or anything granting Reflect.
The rest have honorable mentions since the Thief can steal rare equipment. The Archer has Speed Save as a reaction. The Samurai becomes expensive when katanas break. The Oracle and Mime I never get around to using even after my long tenure with the game.

This pertains to the original game. Spoiler warning for those brand new. You might not want to continue. Your personal preference in the roster set up might differ or not, this is my team. I did what I could to round out the abilities as well as have the best equipment. This is without the duplication trick based on the known available items. In this team these people had a spot in my life. I want to honor them here.

There are more optimal builds. My team can handle any situation in the game. You can only have five at most in all battles anyway. Here is how to succeed if you grind once Mandalia Plains becomes available for it.

Final Sweet 16 unless you prefer something else.

Ramza plus 15 generic females - special females in the final chapter if you wish. Keeping the men is optional among other things.

Equipment is player choice though things that enhance magic might be preferred.

All women having those abilities with the spells mastered are more than enough to crush the game. I know SSCC Calculator has been done. Five Ninjas with Math Skill secondary is definitely overkill.

Chemist, Priest, and Monk are available early on. Their class abilities are more than enough to beat the game when mastered. Though picking at least one class of any of the jobs is obligatory and a matter of preference.

I enjoyed the game very much. I checked Active Turn before it became popular.
