Ahh its great to hear that they might be making remakes of a bunch of the newer ff's on PS(maybe PS2) game disks. They plan on doing this with 8 also but that may just be a rumor. Plz give me your opinion on it because i would even enjoy 7 on a 2d scale but now it might be goin heavy duty 3D sounds like fun to me!

I can only say one thing, freakin AWSOME!!! But, are you sure that it they are inhancing graphics. Where did you get this information. I demand resources . Just kidding, but it would be nice to have a source on where you got all this from. Plus, I have only heard that they re-releasing it, not remking it. Are you sure that you're right? Please reply with a source. Thanks !

I have a friend that works at GameStop (my future job site ) and he pointed out some of the FMV sequences and then some in game stuff. Maybe he was mistaken but I have his e-mail adress if u want to ask him yourself.

Advent Children it is called. There's been no confirmation of any remaking of FF7, and expecially not of FF8. I, for one, would rally to a remade FF7. Though I know there are probably many people that think it would "ruin the legacy". -------------------- The clouds ran away, opened up the sky And one by one I watched every constellation die And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star I should've known, walked all the way home To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone -Atmosphere "Always Coming Back Home to You" |

There would be no point in re releasing FF7 for the PS2 because the PS2 plays PS1 games on it. All I heard was Advent Children was being made and I've heard nothing of a remake of FF7 for the PS2 so far.

I read in official playstation magazine about 1 1/2 years ago, that square was planing on re-making ff7-9 on the ps2 with enhanced graphics. That project was put on indefinet hold however, when square decided to work on original projects instead. However, i hear rumors (just rumors, nothing official) that square is considering developing the games for PS3... (BTW i read about these rumors in Electronic Gaming Monthly's Rumor Mill)

Why would they re-release FFVII when it's the most easily found game in any store that sells pre-owned games?
They should wait a few more years regardless. Maybe when there's a new console to re-release it on, instead of the one you can play the original with. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

The PS3 is supposed to be backward-compatible with both PS2 and PSX games, isn't it? If they rereleased FFVII as a different game, either because it contained extra stuff (like the Greatest Hits version of Silent Hill 2) or because it was totally redone, the fact that the original can be found used wouldn't make a difference. IMO, FF7 could do with a polish. Its not a looker...
and a few bits of back-plot to reinforce toe old plot would be sweet. But no, we're getting a movie instead... woohoo(!) Thank goodness i wont waste £40 going to the cinema this time around,eh? That was my point - make it a PS3 game. I would have suggested waiting for the next system, but "next-gen" systems are coming out far faster than the technology is developing, so two systems later is the equivalent of the wait FFIV-FFVI had to go through. Why would they re-release FFVII as a different game? They didn't do it to FFVI or IV. All they added were FMVs, which people skip anyways. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

they...should just remake it. I don't care what system, but i would rather it be on the PS2 that way i could play it without having to buy a new video system. But, if they release it whenever the 3rd PS comes out then i guess ill go get it. crap!

As far as re-releasing or remastering, I think Square would be better off just re-releasing it. It's a Greatest Hit, I'm sure it would still sell. Personally, I think a new and improved (ha!) version would be a waste of time, unless they were going to change entire portions of the plot (less of a fixation on Sephiroth, giving Sephiroth something that resembles a personality, reviving Aeris, cinemas for Yuffie and Vincent), in which case they might as well make a brand new game, since it wouldn't be FF7 any more by that point. Well, maybe a slightly-remastered version with non-Popeye-looking characters would be a plus, but I still wouldn't buy it.

Quote The PS3 is supposed to be backward-compatible with both PS2 and PSX games, isn't it? yes it is. Quote IMO, FF7 could do with a polish. Its not a looker... Very true. But the reason FF7 is a fun game is the gameplay. I think the graphics are just fine the way they are. Think about it. Every FF (with the eception of X-2) has a very distinct graphical feel to it. FF7's feel is blocky characters with no mouths. Its part of its charm. -------------------- <Nealio> Seymour sounds like evil Winnie the Pooh |

They could do it both ways...uber 3d or 2d
I'm attached to 2d games, and I couldn't care less about great graphics in an RPG, it's all about plot structure and character development, and sometimes an acceptible battle engine. So yea, a new FF7 would be grand. -------------------- Those with no names know no bounds |

if they re-release anything, it should be on the ps2...on a dvd disc...and it should be about 3 discs containing all the ff games up to 9. name it the final fantasy collection and slap a $150 price tag on it. lol.

i cant believe you said that Ramzah. If somebody from square reads that, theyll thnk, "thats a dandy idea!" and then well have a 150 game package.
way to go jerk. you know, most ppl have been saying that "ff7 is not a looker". but maybe you do not remember when this game came out. all of my friends and i saw this game and we downloaded in our pants. the graphics were revolutionary at the time. but when compared to games like ff10 and the like, the definately pale. still, now that the graphics could be better, i would like to see them upgraded. -------------------- once you can accept yourself, you will never be alone |

I still like the graphics They were cool then, they're still cool now.
I've seen a lot of PSX, PS2 and PS3 mentioned here. Are we forgetting the one gaming system that will never get old? PC! Sorry to all you playstation lovers out there, but I say forget the PS, PS2, and PS3. PC is the only way to go! Unfortunately, stupid Square didn't release all the FF games on PC Oh well... guess I'll have to get a PSX. Or a PS2. Or wait for a PS3. *sigh* -------------------- Wow. 1,000 posts. I agree with you, Figaro, on both points. I don't mind the graphics, although I admit they're pretty funny-looking at times, especially the way most of the characters look "chibi". The notable exceptions are the villains, particularly Rufus and Sephiroth, and the characters that are supposed to be mature, like Barret.
I've been a PC girl for most of my life. I became acquainted with the concept of emulators and ROMs when I agreed to babysit my roommate's friend's cat over Thanksgiving break two years ago. She had an NES emulator on her computer, and I tried out the first Castlevania game on it and liked it, so I went home and downloaded it. Then I went, "Hey, I've never played any of the Final Fantasy games. I should." So I got my hands on them, and played them in order, and when I'd finished with VI, I was sad because I didn't have a PlayStation and thought I'd never be able to play the rest of the games. But then I got my boyfriend a PS2 for Christmas, and he gave me his PS1. And the rest is history, but I digress. I love my computer, and would love it if the rest of the FF series came out for the PC. The one thing the Playstation has over the PC is that you don't have to worry about installation, obsolescence (except where the division between PS1 and PS2 is concerned), or conflicts with your operating system. You just stick in the disc and play. |

Maybe I'm on crack. I like FF7 just fine the way it is. The graphics are pretty and detailed, and goofy and blocky all at the same time. A prequel (as others here believe) would make sense considering all of the exciting backstory with Zack, Seph, Aeris, the Turks, Cid + space program, Ifalna + Ghast, yadda + yadda.
The dominant reason that I love the Anthology/Chronicles re-releases is just that it allows me to play those great old games without worrying about some 2nd hand glitchy old SNES cartridge. People will be able to play FF7 on PS family systems for oodles of years, and CD/DVD ROM discs last for as long as you take care of them. The game is important. The new additions of eye candy used to promote the sale are far secondary. -------------------- Get me off this Disciplinary Committee so I can play any FF except for FF8!!! |

As hard as I tried I couldnt find what was posted at another forum.
But it was an article talking about FF:AC and that an FF7 game will be released too. However I am unsure whether it has anything updated or anything like that as the details either were not on the article or I forgot. |
