Possible spoilers: highlight to view Magus, hands-down because of his back-story. This post has been edited by KingofFigaro on 16th June 2004 00:19 -------------------- Don't worry, I'm not going to garrote you. |

I've always liked Frog and Robo. Those two plus Crono always made up my ultimate party. Towards the end though I usually switch Robo out for Ayla, but I'm still fond of the bucket o' bolts.
Magus was an alright fighter, but I didn't really like his character. Possible spoilers: highlight to view The first time I ever played I opted to fight one-on-one against Magus (resulting in his demise). Later on, I kept wondering what those scythes for sale in the shops were for. I remember getting angry that none of my characters were able to equip them and I couldn't figure out why. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. The girls in CT were nice and all, but they didn't have the respective, i'm-going-to-own-you attitude. Magus and frog, on the other hand, were strong; dedicated, Magus to heaven knows what; and down-right cool. If I had to choose, I would choose Magus. I don't care if you are good or evil; if you own, i love you. Just like I love the ominous Sephiroth.

In my opinion they were all great, except Magus. Basically it was between Crono and Frog but I went with Crono.

I picked Magus, but it's a toss-up between him and Frog. Magus is the Almighty Badass of CT, and Frog is his exact opposite - a perfect knight in shining armor. Frog's a great fighter and a healer with a kick-ass theme song, but Magus tops the ranks when it comes to magic - his third-strongest spell was stronger than even Crono's Luminaire, and I hadn't even gotten Magus' last two spells the first time I beat the game. What's not to love with these two?

Magus, hands-down. He looks cool. he's bad-ass. He uses scythes, which are my favorite weapon, right above sword-chucks. (I just got a great idea. Scythe-chucks!) His 3rd strongest spell, (dark mist, I believe) is more powerful than most double techniques, and can take you through most of the rest of the game easily. he's the only one who can use shadow type SPELLS, he levitates, he's a villain, and he has blue hair. Also, Wind God Gau, that really creeped me out. When I read your post, I was listening to that exact song.

Not really on topic... but that's because the name "Masamune" was only attributed it in translation. Its original name is Gran[d?]leon (with Masa and Mune's original names being Gran[d?] and Leon respectively).
Personality-wise, I'll have to call Frog or Magus as favourite. It's hard to say which, but probably Frog. But then, why does he talk in a mediæval dialect when nobody else in his time seems to bother? |

My favourite was Ayla. On the story level, she was hysterical. "Big yawn here" is one of my favourite lines. In combat, she was strong, she had good techs, and she had good combos with my other favourite (combat) characters, Crono and Marle.

Frog and Robo are my absolute favourites, and as I hate Crono they two and Magus make my ultimate team. Sometimes Ayla can be useful too, though.

I never had time to finish CT but I tried really hard. Crono hands down.

Hmm...probably Ayla. There's something about a strong woman...next runner-up being Robo, because he's tough and Heal Beam is very strong. Then I guess maybe Crono, though really there aren't any particularly reprehensible characters in CT, it's a pretty well-written game.

Lucca.
Call me a fanboy, but I had a crush on her when I first played CT. ^^' Smart, good-looking, has a Woobie-ish backstory and a somewhat motherly personality... My kind of girl. |

Ayla!
She was instantly my favorite. I loved her character, she was very charming and very original to me, unless you count Gau as well. Its kinda cool they based her on Ayla from the Earth Children series lol I still haven't beaten the game despite me being at the end boss. Whenever I try to beat him, he takes way too much over the HP limit. -------------------- |

Ayla, definitely. She's just so lively and fun, and it's always funny to see old-timey characters try to understand new-age stuff. The second she joins up, she's in for life -- never gettin' outta that lineup!

Quote (Gears @ 20th April 2004 18:12) I had to go with Crono. Of all the Square lead characters, he never gets on your nerves, doesn't shoot his mouth off, and never backs down from anything. Without ever saying a word he has more personality than Squall. And that's why I voted for Crono. |

I've always liked Lucca, not only for her intelligence and her sense of humor, but also for that fact that she's one of few females in RPG's that's solely an 'offensive caster'. Comparing her to characters from the FF series off the top of my head, only Rydia and Lulu can really match that.
NPC wise, I wish we would've gotten to see more about Schala. I can't really say much about her since we don't know much, but that's just it. Her and Magus hold good prequel opportunity. |
