We love you sugar, all I can recommend is getting on the net when they sleep. Parents have no respect for privacy, and even worse, don't think about their children's feelings.

where's the trust? where's the trust??

well, we all miss you too. it's sad when parents don't trust their kids anymore and can't let them make any good decisions. but anyway, hope you come back soon. :)

Sorry, that's gotta suck. What are you grounded for?

The clouds ran away, opened up the sky
And one by one I watched every constellation die
And there I was frozen, standing in my backyard
Face to face, eye to eye, staring at the last star
I should've known, walked all the way home
To find that she wasn't here, I'm still all alone

Parents can really suck sometimes. We miss you hanging around the forums and chat Beth! Hopefully, we'll see you back in a bit. Like Sabin said, where is the trust?

Yeah being 18 also rules.
I don't know you all that well, actually i don't know you at all cept for those amazing drawings you do. But why did you get grounded? If you don't wanna tell then don't, but i'd understand if it was a stupid reason, i've been grounded for THE stupidest reasons... For example, THE stupidest reason i have ever been grounded, coming home 2 hours early and my parents weren't expecting me so they got mad and grounded me for the night...  STUPID I TELL YA! Another retarded reason that my lil bro(9yrs old) got grounded for two days from the computer, he left the caps lock on :blah: ...  ARGH!
my parents are retarded i tell ya!   O_O

I have no problems letting anyone know why I got grounded.
I was grounded for letting SSJ_Cloud, my boyfriend, thank-you-very-much, visit me for a day. We went to the mall, cooked our supper, watched some of an anime, rollerbladed, and in general, that was the most wonderful day of my life that I can remember. Mother grounded me because he 'could' have been a killer. He 'could' have raped me. He 'could' have done this, or that, or the other thing. Just because there are bad people in the world doesn't mean everyone is bad. My mother thinks bass-ackwards.

Wow, that must really suck. I don't think I'd be able to deal with stuff like that. I'm glad my parents aren't the kind that see some news report about a sex offender on the internet, or someone being abducted or whatever, and then get all paranoid and don't let me do anything. That has a far more negative effect, then a positve one IMO. How is restricting your children from everything help them in the long run? How do you expect your son/daughter to learn any social skills if they aren't allowed to interact with their peers?

If your child just doesn't know what something is, or what it does or whatever, just that they can't do it, they'll naturally become curious and rebel later on. If they don't know what drugs do to your body, for example, peer pressure will usually lead you to a situation where it comes up and you have to make a choice. I'd want my kid to know WHY they should make the right decision. Not, "Oh my mom says i'm not supposed to do that." Everyone knows that that doesn't last forever and won't fly with people later on.

Knowledge is the key, not all-and-out restriction.

Basically all teenagers rebel to some extent and trying to keep them ignorant of the world will only result in a almost shock-like state, because their whole life they've been mothered and now that they're out in the real world, they can't interact with people very well, and end up being rejected from society. Also insert "self esteem sports leagues" where they don't keep score and everyone's a winner. This is definitely great for children, especially so they can get early confidence in life, and don't have to be a "loser". But for Middle School, I think it's just ludacris. That's not how the real world works, so why make kids think that they're in a fantasy world all through middle school when in high school, everything's just going to erupt out of nowhere?

Another thing I disapprove of is home-schooling. If they're homeschooled through grade school, they end up in high school and have trouble making friends. A lot of times, they end up being the kid in the back of the class that no one knows their name. That student isn't used to all those people, and naturally have doubts of just jumping right in. In turn, the other people think that person must be "cold" and may not even like to talk or make friends, even though the opposite is usually true.

Having at least 2-3 good friends is very crucial to being able to get through high school IMO. Kids can't just spend their life with only themselves.
A lot of kids that i grew up with and were mothered their whole life, are now huge druggies and don't listen to a thing their parents say.

These are just my opinions from both experience and observation. Sorry, I felt like I had to go on a rant there.  -_-

I'm going to have to agree with your Mother, to an extent. She only cares about ya, Lizzie. So, big deal? You got grounded. This is what I suggest. Have Ryan come to your place to have a sitdown with your parents (not the "I want to marry your daughter" sitdown, but the "I'm not a bad guy, I won't kill your daughter" sit down) and maybe they'll change their opinion?

Mother gathered the fact that he didn't want to kill me when we talked at the dinnertable. And 'Big deal you got grounded'? The computer, sadly, is where most of my friends really are. It's retarded to take a person from their only contact to the outside world, which is also something my mother has done, by unless I just say I'm leaving, and where I'm going, I don't get to leave the house. If she DID care about me, she would have dropped the subject of maybe this that or the other thing could have happened. IT DIDN'T. So how is it caring to remove your daughters only other way to talk to people, (having been grounded from the phone previously) and tell her to shut the f*ck up when she's upstairs in her room crying because she's officially been told that she isn't part of that family until goodness knows when?

All right, let's shut this one down. There's no need for it to become an argument, and Beth knows best about what is going on in her life, regardless of our advice.
