I have one cat. But I've had about 4 others in my life. My current kitty is a seal point siamese (not pure bread she has a box head) with blue eyes and her name is Simma. She came with that name because we got her from the local Humane Society a couple of years ago.

L. Cully, we can't ever live on the same island, if one of us were to own one somehow. I'm pro-cat, anti-dog.
But maybe we can have a co-op program, if we have islands far enough apart. All the cats can be sent to me, and all the dogs will be sent to you. This also means that I get Tiddles by default, since he's a cat. *ahem* I don't have any cats myself, but I live in a house with three cats that used to be strays who have adopted the place. Their names, regrettably, are Ugly, Peewey, and Nirvana. Peewey and Nirvana were named by children, and I'm not sure why ugly is called Ugly. She's a pretty brown-striped cat. They were a little distrustful of me at first (probably, thanks again, to the children), but they're very sweet and trusting now. If I could, I'd take one or two of them when Rich and I finally get out of this place. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

![]() seriously, I like kittens, their 19 in Charisma gets me every time... but then they grow up... ![]() My dad used to have a cat that was really smart, but old age took hold of her, and she became a crothcedy old lady. she died a few years ago, and thus my father was full of sorrow. We got a new kitty, and a coulple of years ago I would have called her NinjaKitty, but she does not act like one at all. ![]() -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

I'm a big cat person, pro-cat (not that I don't like dogs), but I've never actually owned one. I live right next to one of the busiest roads over here, and cats never seem to do well when they have the opportunity to run out into the road. My grandmother, however, used to own a cat which I adored as a kid. It was called Gammy, named so because it had a 'gammy' leg after a run-in with a lawnmower, and thus walked slightly lopsidedly. Sadly, it died when I was around nine, shortly after they got a dog.

I don't!
Really, I can't stand cats. I did, however, once own a male cat named Peanut who was the sweetest kitty I've ever known. And although he loved to be held, I could never keep him from accidentally burying his claws into my skin. He's the only cat I ever loved... Overall, I'm pro-dog and anti-cat. I find dogs (except those blasted Chihuahuas) to be more loving, enthusiastic, fun and generally people-friendly. Unfortunately all four dogs I once had have been dead for years. One day, eventually, I'll get around to searchin' for that German Shepherd puppy I've always wanted. Then we'll live peacefully on Frugalicia and watch the cat traps fill to the brims, providing months' worth of free food for li'l Puppy. Instead of a dog or cat, I currently have a pair of male degus (South American varients of squirrels) whom I've grown accustomed to calling "my rats", to the point where I often claim that's what they are without noticing. Hey, I've always wanted some rats, and these two act the part pretty well despite resembling brown, miniature chinchillas. Plus it's easier than explaining just what in the world a "degu" is to some people. Their names are Count Chocula and Frankenberry, or Count and Frank for short. Large dogs stink. I had 2 cats growing up, but my wife is allergic to them. We are going to get a Pug..... eventually..... I love dogs. My entire family loves dogs. It will be impossible for me to have a lasting romantic relationship with someone who doesn't like dogs, because I will not be without a canine companion once I get a place of my own. My family used to breed Labrador Retrievers, and our family dog right now is a six year old chocolate that was part of out last litter. My aunt and uncle in Colorado breed Swiss Mountain Dogs, which basically look like Rottweilers but are smaller and leaner and have more white in the coat, my grandfather owns two labradors (one of Rosie's sisters and a younger female) and an ancient Golden Retriever, my aunt and uncle in California have two Rat Terriers, the list goes on.
Now cats are a bit different. I'm fine with cats, usually. But with cats the individual cat's personality comes in to play with their behavior more so than a dog's, as cats are less dependant and more aloof than dogs. An ornery cat is more difficult to deal with than an ornery dog, but an amiable cat and an amiable dog are both great. With that said, me liking a cat vs. disliking a cat is stricly case-by case. My aunt Jill's cat Chloe is Satan incarnate (she's been known to jump on to the dinner table and urinate in people's food if she feels like she is getting ignored), while my aunt Ruth's cat Nell is quite possibly the sweeetest, most adorable cat in the world (she's ten years old, but still has really light gray kitten-soft fur, bright blue eyes, and a tendency to fall asleep in your lap while never bearing claws). So yeah. Dogs are better than cats, but cats aren't all bad. -------------------- |

Yeah, Tiddles isn't a bad guy
![]() harharhar Gimme a good old cat over a dog anyday. You can train a cat to do all its business outside. They also bury their business ![]() Cats are just more independent in general. You feed it, pet it when you feel the urge, and let it out at night. It's great. Cats don't whore attention like dogs either. A cat might brush against you a bit- so you scratch it, and off he goes on his merry way. If you're up for a pet-a-thon you put it in your lap and watch TV with it. It sleeps, you feel comforted by it's presence. Easy as sin. Cats are great. I had a cat, as you may or may not be able to tell. Poor little rogue. Got into alot of trouble with the neighbor cats. Eventually he was hit by a car, or maybe he ran away. Got to independent, ironicly. Regardless- Cats >> Dogs. Edit- I'm not so much anti dog as I am pro cat. I like dogs. They're usually fun things and the big lugs remind me of Lenny from Of Mice and Men. I just would rather have an animal that reflects me- IE a lazy cat. ![]() This post has been edited by MogMaster on 17th October 2005 05:11 -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. i'm definitely a cat person. i have two cats, precious and rampage; they're total personality opposites (precious is crochety, self-centred, and likes to run things; while rampage is sweet and loves company), but i love them both.
however, i also have a dog now, and i love the hell out of my dog, too. dogs are wonderful animals in that they actually show appreciation to you for all you do for them; nothing else from cats to fish to girlfriends ever seems to be able to do that. so although i am certainly a "cat person," i am thankful for the both of God's gifts to us. |

Argg!! Y'all twisted me arm
![]() I used to have a cat named Boo-Boo back home. During his younger years, he practically had the whole neighborhood gripped in fear. Not only did he terrorize the other neighborhood cats (he would often come home with bunches of different colored fur in his claws), but he would also chase down the occassional dog. Once in a while, we would have to chase him off cuz the silly bastard would even stalk people ![]() During that time, Boo-Boo also jumped into many an open vehicle; in fact, we believe he went missing for a week three separate times for that very reason. All three times, he managed to come back to us, albeit starving and a wee bit worse for wear. Then he got older and all the fighting began taking its toll. I believe he was also hit by a car once; while the injuries were surprisingly minor, it didn't help his somewhat declining physical condition. Eventually, he developed a tumor in his throat that prevented him from swallowing, so, at the ripe old age of 15, me aunt and uncle had him put down **sniffle**. I miss that silly cat ![]() I wouldn't mind getting another cat, but currently, me living conditions wouldn't allow for it. -------------------- |

Love cats. Love/hate dogs. Cats are just so much more timid than dogs, you won't hear a cat barking at you even if you're out of its line of sight or across the street not even bothering it. Cats' mannerisms, to me, are just much more friendly. I don't loathe dogs, though, some are pretty cool. Just like cats way better.

Cats cats cats are the best! I have only one right now, I'm planning on getting another very soon, now that I get 8 pounds of free cat food from work every month. I could probably get two more cats!! yes! i like dogs too. i like every kind of pet available except for tarantulas.
i am the fish and reptile manager at a pet store here and it's my job to order and take care of all the fish, lizards, snakes, frogs, scorpions, centipedes and spiders. and i know i will never learn to appreciate the tarantula. i spooked a large rosehair the other day changing it's water dish and it jumped on my hand, which i screamed and flung it onto the floor. it went running, but i managed to scoop it up with it's enclosure. it may be fluffy like a kitten, but it will never be loved by me! -------------------- The first duty in life is to assume a pose, and the second duty is...well, no one's found out yet. |

On seeing this thread, I had to link you to this site:
http://test.byond.com/members/Bass123#post_2 I'm not much of a pet person, to much of a hassle. I owned some large aquatic snails for a while. They were good because they clean their own environment, and you really don't have to worry about them. Also, their snail food was algae that grew on the side of the tank (and some tall plants that grew faster than they could eat them). Good times. |
