My post from the Favorite Anime Character post area, I moved it since I felt it was off topic
Quote (Fadien @ 20th June 2005 23:42) I wish I had more anime. It's just to expensive (around here that is). I've seen several series, but not for quite awhile. Well, if your looking for a good anime, and several hours to spend downloading it, use a BitTorrent type of downloader to download unlicensed anime free (i've done research, and it's perfectly legal in the states if it hasn't been licensed by a US company). For instance, Yami to Boushi no Hon no Tabibito is still legal to download as no company has licensed it here yet. However, it IS illegal to download Naruto, as it has been licensed by and is airing on Cartoon Network. WARNING: any, and i do mean ANY, bittorrent file takes Forever and a Day to download. Be prepared to spend quite a while downloading one episode unless you have an amazing internet connection. another note is that any anime you download you have to read, because its all subtitled. I don't mind this, but others might (another thing that I will never understand) For good animes, here's a few my friend has downloaded, as I have neither the Internet, Time, nor Patience: AIR (my favorite of all time) Yami to Boushi no Hon no Tabibito (translated as the travelers yami, hat, and book, main character is a lesbian, and my favorite) He Is My Master (from the makers of Excel Saga) Mahoraba "Heartful Days" (OMG the first non-violent, non-dark story I've seen Square-Enix create!) My Problem: I've recently tried to give downloading anime another chance, so I downloaded Azureus, a BitTorrent type system. However, I started downloading different animes from various locations, but the program won't even begin to download what I want! I can't figure out how to port-forward, so I tried messing with my ZoneAlarm firewall. That failed, so I shut the firewall down. Nope, still not downloading. Can anyone assist me, tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong?! I'm desperate! I'm stabbing myself repetitively in the foot for not remembering this problem last time I attempted it... From my experience, Azureus is annoying to use, if not for any other reason than just those pop-up notifications that come up every four minutes or so.
However, regardless of that (which can probably be changed in settings or something), my experience with torrents in general is that they become quite easily stalled by lack of connections. You might have better luck with more popular downloads such as animes series; I was having trouble seeing enough seeders while downloading NES speed run videos, a season of a quite old TV show, and game music. I very often get the error message "no data from tracker", and even when I don't, the speed I get is usually pretty pathetic. As a result, most of my downloading time is actually spent waiting to connect and not actually receiving data. I currently use BitTornado, but after my latest download, I haven't found anything worthwhile (and worth space on my hard drive) to grab. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! I use Mastodon, where I am @[email protected] ( https://sakurajima.moe/@glennmagusharvey ) |

I used to use BitTornado, until I found out that Azureus is much better, especially when handling seeding. Only think I don't like about it is the amount off memory it uses. Anywho your main problem of not knowing how to forward a port is pretty common. Check out PortForward.com and select what router you have, it should give you a step by step process to open up the port Azureus uses. Hope it helps.
