http://www.dsrevolution.com/images/im/5039ff3shot1.jpg - This one looks as if it may be all of the selectable classes along with a battle scene.
http://www.dsrevolution.com/images/im/16289ff3shot2.jpg -This one seems to be the first cave that the Onion Knights venture into.

http://www.dsrevolution.com/images/im/8671ff3shot3.jpg - And there's just the FF III title with the background art common to every FF.

I think it's looking really good. Well as much as you can tell by the blurry pictures from the DS conference.

^^ The best reason for a DS is Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, silly.

And those screenshots are impressive. I'll almost certainly be getting a DS before the year is over, and this game is on my short list of games to check out. It's supposed to be out before next year's holiday season, right?

^ Apparently, as are FFV and VI for GBA. Square never exactly specified, but they did say all three games would be out shortly after FFIV Advance. Course, "shortly" could mean months for all we know...

I've seen those screenshots before, also assuming the first one was of the underground cave at the beginning. The second one just appears to be two separate battle shots. I'm pretty sure I linked to all three in another topic a while back. Wish they were higher quality, but I guess those'll come soon enough.

i thought they were onion kids. it may have been a fan translation that i played, and might have mistakes, but they did look like kids to me.

^^ The translation I used called them Onion Kids as well, but I'm inclined to think that the class is going to be Onion Knight because that's what the FF X localizers decided to call Lulu's ultimate weapon, which was obviously one of this game's onion-esque main characters. Of course, they might make it Onion Kids or something entirely new and ludicrous, we don't have enough info yet.

There's a really neat comparison of scenes from FF 3 for the NES and then the same scene on the DS.

Oh my wow.

If the gameplay is smoother but basically preserved (I especially recommend keeping the magic-level-slot system, favoring it over MP for this particular game), and the translation is decent-or-better quality, and the music is well-arranged (I guess I can trust Uematsu to do a good job with this), then this is going to be kickass game.

At least, I hope.

The Onion Knights come back. Although I have yet to wonder why they are called "Onion Knights". Did they mean "Orphan Knights" or "Orphans" cause they are orphans?

No, they meant Onion. If you've ever played FFXI they even spoofed 3's best Onion armor by making it initial equipment when you start the game.

I forgot I had made that kind of blanket statement. Now that I'm six months smarter... I've decided that I'm still right. However, Advance Wars DS, Mario Kart DS, and Animal Crossing DS (the latter two of which weren't out then) are also worthy reasons to get Nintendo's handheld.

But yeah, on topic: the pictures look very nice, let's hope the translation is solid.

Whoa. 3-D FFIII? I don't know what to say. Part of me says it looks awesome, but the part of me who loves cheesy overhead sprites and graphics says no. I'm getting this game, though. When I first played FFIII, it was really hard. -CSM

No plans to release this on the PSP? That sucks!
Well I'm not getting a DS. Unless this is prasied as absolutely amazing and unbeatable when it is released, then I might consider it.

PSP isn't selling as well as the DS. Therefore, it's more profitable to make games for the DS. -CSM

I believe Nintendo also still owns the rights to the game. FFIII was a Nintendo product.

Square-Enix is the owner of the series, so...how so? :l

Anyway, it's just alot better to remake the old games on GBA anyway, since it's just the most appropriate choice to make. It would be weird to put them on the PSP, and the GBA is just perfect, and it could attract all the Nintendo FF people who want to play the classics again. Although in FFIII's case, it's probably being remade on the DS because it's the only FF not released outside of Japan, and they want to rerelease it with a bang for the rest of the world. (And, it's an extremely awesome game, so it all works out.) Although I think it'd be cooler to just give it Wonderswan graphics and put it on GBA, it's FFIII, so it'll be awesome on whatever system they put it on. Although didn't they start a project for FFIII for Wonderswan, way back when? :l

Hmm...maybe they'll be tasty cut scenes. You never know! As long as they don't nerf the difficulty, and make Desh look horrible. I'll miss his sprite changing colours in different areas. laugh.gif
