http://www.cavesofnarshe.com/ff4/magic.php?type=Call has the answers, but as with all things in the FF4 section I can't say it's letterperfect while we try mightily to fix up that whole part of the site. If you still have questions let us know.

You can get them all in Chronicles IIRC. Someone who has actually played it would be better to confirm, though - my copy sits on my desk at home unused.

Keep in mind that you'll receive the summon as a randomly dropped item after battle. When you use the item in the item menu, Rydia will learn the summon.

All of the summons are available in FFC. In the FF2 US cart, Cockatrice was dummied out. You could still use a game genie to get it, but it was called "dummy" and would not be dropped normally.

Getting the summons can be a huge pain in the rear. With the exception of the Bomb summon, which can't be found until you fight the monsters on the moon, you have a drop percentage from all of the pallette swaps of the enemies for which the summons are named. I think.

If I recall correctly, you can get the Bomb summon from all palette swaps of the "Bomb" enemy EXCEPT Bomb itself and Mombomb.

Are any of the 4 dropped Summons worth it at all, if you have Levia and Bahamut? I would imagine not, because of how powerful those two are.

What are the chances of getting the dropped summons. I thought at first that you got them autamatically.

I'm not sure of the chances, it's probably random, so in otherwords..Luck I guess, hehe. Imp is worthless I've found, it does so little damage, but at least it's only 1 MP, so it doesn't waste much at all.

The only thing the Imp summon really wastes is Rydias turn, and ultimately, your time.

Getting the bomb summon might prove useful. I'm not sure how much damage it does exactly, but it might be a good alternative to the bigger summons for when you run low on MP. The other summons don't have much more purpose other than being collectable, though. Unless you got them earlier in the game, they might be a nice alternative to the Chocobo summon.

Good point, oh and speaking of the Chocobo Summon..I find it sad that a freakin Chocobo Summon would have been able to slaughter Edward.

For each of the enemies that drop it, the summon is their rarest drop, meaning that you have a 1/64 chance of receiving if the monsters drops an item.

If you get the early, Bomb and Cockatrice are kinda useful, but they still cost more than Chocobo for not much more damage. Cockatrice casts Stone, though, possibly before anyone else has it. Mage seems to miss against anything you'd really want to use it on, at least in my experience. Imp is never useful. It does 1 damage to everything.

The point to getting the summons is completion. You don't "need" them to win the game. They aren't like other difficult to get summons in other games in that they don't do special damage or anything. They're just fun.

Does Imp ever do more than 1 damage? For example, if Rydia's level is the same as the target's level?

This I ask because I know about the special property of the Goblin Punch blue magic in later games--increased damage if user level = target level.

I seriously doubt monsters in FFIV have levels.

Stupid question, but does any of this apply to FF2-US Version?

--------------------
John: So you don't want your screen saver to come on for another four hours?
Me: Where does it say that?
John: Here where it was 240 minutes.
Me: Is that four hours?
John: Yeah, 60 X 4.
Me: Is that four hours, though?
John: ....They'll never take you back in school.

I've found the Imp and Mage summon in the watered down cheezeball US version, Cocatrice and Bomb I think just come up as "dummy". I think I may have used a Game Genie code to get them though. dry.gif

I'm pretty sure that the answer to this is no.

I tried to get those ramdom summons, but I never could.I got some questions: Its true if you cast Life2 on one enemy (like and Imp-like one) again and again, after killing him, increase the chances or its just for save time?? Also, 1/64 probability to get those summons its worth enough?

If you could get this to work, it should do exactly that. However, I've never successfully cast Life 2 on a dead enemy. My spell always goes off after they've disappeared, and it doesn't hit anybody.

I've heard that in order to do this, you really need just Cecil and Rosa, and you have to time it perfectly. Given the amount of effort that goes into just getting the trick to work, I don't think it's that worthwhile.

I've never even heard of that trick. Sounds more like a rumor though.

Does anyone have any proof of it working? I'd imagine, like Karasuman said, that it'd miss unless you're casting on an imp that hasn't even been killed yet which would be pointless.

I've never heard of anything like that either. Speaking of Imp creatures..Is there anything special at all, aabout Tricker? It only uses Peep on itself, and just plain gives away its weakness.

It just seems like there's something paticular to it.
