Where's the absolute best place to train up for Odin? I already have the three sidequest gained Summons from the Underworld by the way.
Oh, and could I have an explanaiton for the duplication? Like..does what you have to duplicate equipped form the satart of the battle, when equiping and re equiping is suppsoed to happen ,and so on. Thanks for the answers! This post has been edited by PaladinLight on 5th October 2005 23:43 |

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by 'train', but I'll assume that you want to level up the fastest way possible.
Well, That all depends on what part of the game you're in. Since you're asking about Odin, I'd assume that you're at the end or at least near it. Your best bet, I think, is to head for the Lunar Subterrain. (Zemus' Lair) The Z.Minds and the Z.Breaths have a surprizing amount of exp. Don't take my word for it, look up the bestiary and decide for yourself. As for Item Duplication, I never used that bug much, and so have a hard time remembering how it works. -------------------- "Some fight for justice. Odin isn't really a battle that you can "train" for. What's really important is having Rydia learn Bolt 3. If you have that, he should go down easily. Have Edge attack. Cecil attack. Rydia uses Bolt 3. Then an additional attack again if needed by whomever comes up (sans Rosa, of course)

Quote (Ronin @ 5th October 2005 19:28) As for Item Duplication, I never used that bug much, and so have a hard time remembering how it works. To duplicate items, first make sure you have an empty slot or more. Get into a fight, select the blank slot from the item list and switch it with any character's equipments. Escape, and re-equip the weapon/shield to that character and you'll see a "2." Unequip it, and re-equip it again. Right before equipping it again, you'll see an additional item addition to that certain item you wanted to be duplicated. Keep it up and you'll have 99 Excaliburs and 99 Ragnaroks for Edge to throw at Odin! |

I'd say the Red Dragons in the Lunar Subterrain are your best bet for experience. Considering how easy they are to defeat (have Rydia use Ice-3 and equip Kain with the Dragoon Lance if you have one) they are definitely a gold mine. The Breaths and Minds give you a lot of experience too, but the Breaths have a ton of HP and defense and the Minds can be lethal if they confuse two or three party members.
You're having trouble with Odin? Possible spoilers: highlight to view Just use Lit-3 when he raises his sword and he should be toast! Edit Yeah, basically do what Sabin said before me. In my opinion, if you've done the Underworld side quests, you ought to be good to go or pretty close to it. What version you're playing makes a big difference--if you're playing FFC, Rydia kinda needs Bolt 3 (and that should be all anyone needs), but if you're playing the SNES version, Bolt 2 and Blitz should get you through it. If you feel like you need more leveling, either do the moon and come back, or hang out in the Underworld caves and level there. I find that I get the most done in the Summoned Monsters cave, because Summoners that call Arachnes are easy experience. If you're having trouble with the fight, try busting out with a spider web as your first non-Rydia action. You can win them from Arachne, and they work pretty well on most bosses. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

In FFIIus, Breath has a huge amount of HP but is harmless, since all it does is cast Peep. Mind is the dangerous one. (Note that in that area, EVERY battle gets the boss battle music. It means something, you know.) However, I've heard that Breath in the FFIV versions might actually attack. They both indeed give a huge amount of experience. As for strategy against Odin, you'll want the following: Cecil: attack, preferably with strongest sword OR a lightning-elemental sword (don't remember if that exists) Rosa: cast White/Holy, or heal (if you get attacked, but I can't remember if Odin does that) Rydia: cast Lit 3, obviously FuSoYa: Lit3, obviously, as well Edge: cast Blitz Kain: Jump. If you time this right, you might just be able to have Kain escape a slicing. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. That's not counting Bolt arrows, but given the damage that thing does, you're probably better off with Excalibur. -------------------- "Some fight for justice. Well, Odin is beaten and I'm o nthe moon now. I have FuSoYa in the party now also, and yes I got Spon.
I was rather surprised seeing Bolt 3 do 9,999 damage on Odin, impressive I felt. |

Quote (PaladinLight) I was rather surprised seeing Bolt 3 do 9,999 damage on Odin, impressive I felt. If I recall correctly, Odin takes 4x damage from electricity-elemental attacks, so Lit-3/Bolt 3 should easily pull off a 9999 on him. Dunno why they programmed that property onto Odin--other than probably to make him easier to beat. However, I still have beef with the 9999 damage cap, especially when it comes to my favorite spell in the game--Meteo. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. True, true..But then, it wasn't until FFX, there were real reasons for the need to go beyond 9,999 an attack. However, it'd be so cool to be able to on FFIV, and the bosses and what not are still based on the old stats system and HP.

So in that case it would make sense that the japanese would believe he'd be weak to lightning in his immortal state as well. *takes the specticles off, because they're hurting his eyes.* -------------------- "Some fight for justice. Is there not, in one of the libraries in the FF4 world, a book that talks about the invincible king Odin, unbeaten except for the one time his sword was hit by lightning? That's probably where the weakness comes in.

I'm surprised everybody waited so long to get Odin. I remember getting him when Tellah was still in my party.
![]() My memory of FFIV isn't that great, but I'm certain he was there when I beat him. I couldn't tell ya who else was in my party, though, since I haven't a clue. Tellah's Lit 3 carried me through the battle, though. -------------------- Is PJ |

I'd recommend Bahamut Cave. Because then you can get Bahamut while you're at it, which is better than Meteo, IMO. 1) you can't throw ragnaroks. Nor would you even need to if you managed to level sufficiently to kill Wyvern.
2) Odin is a sucker for bolt, as mentioned by the summoned monster library. Lit 2, edges ninja lighting, or maybe a Leviathan summon. It works. 3) Caesar it is impossible to get Odin with Tellah in the party. You need to have Rydia or they won't let the battle begin. As Tellah is indisposed by the time you get Rydia, what you say is impossible This post has been edited by MogMaster on 6th October 2005 23:45 -------------------- If you've been mod-o-fied, It's an illusion, and you're in-between. Hmm. That is very strange. I know someone had Lit 3 in the battle against him, and I know I didn't fight him with FuSoYa. Rydia didn't have it because I remember her using Lit 2 on him.

Also wasn't FuSoYa. If you come to earth with him, the giant battle occurs automatically, shortly after which, he leaves.

Yea you're definitely right. I couldn't've possibly been Tellah. I didn't look into FuSoYa, but since you were right about Tellah, I'll assume you were right about FuSoYa.
I could've sworn Rydia didn't know Lit 3, though. Oh well. I can swear all day, but it won't change the facts. That's the last time I trust my FFIV memory. ![]() -------------------- Is PJ |

Jeez..My first non intro topic, and it's getting popular..Anyways, yeah bahamut's Cave would make sense, besides i do really want to get him. It costs 60 MP I do believe. Besides, I'll probably train up alot around the cave.
One question..the battle where you get cecil's true ultimate weapon..Is it gotten as you go through the cave normally, or do you gave to sidetrack? |

With the duplication trick, you must make sure that you are selecting the empty slot first. That is a common problem with it.
