Aside from the obvious RPG's here XD
For me, I can play any game so long as it is not from the sports genre. How people can like sports games is beyond my comprehension. -------------------- Neneko is Neneko because Neneko couldn't be Neneko if Neneko wasn't Neneko! --as quoted from Neneko, Mahoraba {Heartful Days} I can stab a man with a thick paperback book thru the ribcage. |

hmmm, well i like sports games a lot, but more along the lines of the street games. i LOVE the nfl and nba street series, those games are so fun! the nba live games are pretty good too. so i guess, sports are what i play other than rpgs, with an occasional fighter (guilty gear yeah!)

I don't really like "regular" sports games, but extreme sports games like Tony Hawk and stuff I like. I only own THPS4, didn't buy Underground 'cause I beat it at my friend's house in a night, lol, but I LOVE Amped 2. Honestly, I think that game is THE BEST extreme sports game to date. I can't wait for #3.
Anyway, I also play shooters, but only the really good ones, as well as Hack'n'slash games, platformers... pretty much anything, so long as it's a good game. As for fighting games, I dislike most of 'em, with the exception of the Soul Caliber, Mortal Kombat (the old ones anyway), and Street Fighter series (how do you spell the plural form of series? Is it the same?). -------------------- The island bathes in the sun's bright rays Distant hills wear a shroud of grey A lonely breeze whispers in the trees Sole witness to history ICO-You were there- |

generally enjoy:
+role-playing games (RPGs) +adventure/exploration mixed opinions: o puzzle o action (usually positive) generally no interest or cannot play/tolerate -fighting games -1st-person shooting games (okay, I haven't played Metroid Prime yet) -racing games (except Super Mario Kart) -party games (e.g. Wario Ware) -sports games This post has been edited by Glenn Magus Harvey on 2nd October 2005 15:48 -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. I play a ton of RPGs, fighting games, strategy games, action/adventure/platform games, and some assorted puzzle, survival-horror, and racing games. I really don't any sports games (unless you count the two Mario Tennis games, which rule) or shooting games (except Goldeneye, which was awesome), but I can understand their appeal.
One game genre that really doesn't do it for me is party games. If you're drunk, then Mario Party 4 is probably the best game of all time, but I really don't think that any of those six games or any of the WarioWare games are worth a purchase, since it's just a collection of minigames that you can play through and get bored of within days. The only genre I consistently play other than the RPG genre is Platforming. I'm more of a casual gamer, really, so I good platformer is a quick and easy blast to play. The games tend to center more around fun than anything else, or atleast I find them more fun; My favourites include Yoshi's Island, the Jak & Daxter series and the Crash Bandicoot series, up until 3, atleast. I'm also quite partial to, but suck completely at, SMB2.

Just about any, I don't have a favorite Genre, just as long as the gameplay is addicting and fun then I won't have a bad time with it.
BUT, if I had to play favorites, Fighters, RPGs, Shooters and Platformers are games I'd most likely buy. -------------------- |

Besides RPGs, I like RTSs and err... Katamari Damacy. What genre would that game go in, anyway?

RPGs are, above all, my favorites but I also find myself playing fighters and one or two action games here and there.

Besides RPGs (the obvious one, lol) I love playing RTS games. I also play a few 1st person shooters, though I dislike alot of them as well. Theres also strategy games and fighting games like Soul Calibur and Street Fighter.
What I don't like playing are sports games. They are easily, in my opinion, the most dull, pointless games ever created. Which makes me wonder why the heck they're so popular. I also hate party games like Mario Party. Those get old really fast. -------------------- Music is a mysterious thing... Sometimes, it makes people remember things that they do not expect. I mostly play RPGs. Sometimes I'll play stradegy games or a good puzzle game, although the only one I've really played was Tetris (still one of me faves, too). Beyond that, I still play Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike at the local arcade whenever I can (I actually have plenty of opportunities for this, but the other players who actually give me a challenge usually only show up on the weekends when I work

there seems to be an abundance of non-sports video game players, with the exception of a couple that ive read. i usually find them quite fun (especially the street series like i said before), but i can kinda see why some of them are a bit boring. theyre really not that bad overall though! sorry, just tryin' to defend a genre of game that i kinda like. as a question though, do you think that people who actually play sports are the ones who favor sports games the most? rpgs are my fave, but sports games are right up there too. im sure that there are many people that play sports games who arent that into real sports, but do you think the majority of sports games players are those who enjoy sports in reality?
i for one really enjoy playing basketball, soccer, and volleyball! just a question that popped in my mind as i was typing this. -------------------- "The answer is, of course, that it would be best to be both loved and feared. Quote (baralai888 @ 2nd October 2005 20:14) Im sure that there are many people that play sports games who arent that into real sports, but do you think the majority of sports games players are those who enjoy sports in reality? I like video games and I like sports, but I generally don't like sports video games. I prefer playing or watching football to telling characters in a video game how to execute plays in a football video game. Also, sports video games in general try to be realistic, when it is in fact much more realistic to go outside and play said game yourself. I don't get it. IMO, the best sports games are ones that don't try to realistic at all, like the Mario Tennis series and the Neo-Geo classic WindJammers (it's basically a game of frisbee-tennis with super moves and cancelable powershots, if that makes sense). With those games the action never stops (except in the GC version of MT...) and the vs modes are great. And yeah, I really like sports, especially football (the American kind), soccer, basketball, tennis, and ultimate frisbee. -------------------- |

i like arcady sports games. Street series, Blitz, etc. RPGs are a favorite of mine. FPSs i'm not too good with, except Halo. dont know why, but i cant be touched. and no one, on God's green Earth, can beat me in a racing game. especially Need For Speed.
