Anyone ever regret buying any games ye gots (or even systems)? I'm sure most of ye have. If that's the case, then care to share which ones? I can't really say I have, although I'm tempted to say Final Fantasy: Origins. I'm not too sure what possessed me to buy this one. I guess I wanted to try something new/different. T'was alright, I guess, but I doubt I'll EVER go so old-school again tongue.gif .

Nevermind, I jest remembered an old Game Boy game called Raging Fighter pinch.gif . I got it during me early fighing game phase (I was 13, alright?) and I still have it. I suppose it serves to remind me that I was jest as foolish as any kid around that age tends to be (at least when it comes to video game choices, that is ).

The Atari 2600 port of Pac-Man. That was actually given to me as a gift, but whoever the giver was must've hated me. Don't get me wrong - I'm a HUGE Pac-Man fan, but that's just one incredibly lackluster port.

Two I do regret buying are Attack of the Killer Tomatoes for the original GameBoy and Jurassic Park for the Genesis. Lemme tell ya, there are many, many games I wish I never wasted my precious money on, but those two have got to be the worst...or at least the worst that come to mind at the moment.

Thank all that's holy for the abundance of easily accessible reviews nowadays that don't require a gaming magazine subscription...

I regretted buying FFT. I did need to try it, but I don't like it. I also regretted buying Legend of Dragoon, and I traded that in for another game (can't remember which).

World of Warcraft, if that counts.

The game plus 2 months up front cost me about $100. I played it for 17 days, and havent played it since July 30th (Iève logged in and all, just havent really actually played it). I do have about 15 days left on my subscription, and I intend to make the most of that.

Wow, I never thought I'd hear that...to each his/her own, I guess happy.gif .

And, Fen, if ye regret payin' for it, it definitely counts, jest like I regret paying for Chrono Cross, not because the game sucks (in fact I like it a lot), but because I had to have picked up the crappiest, most scratched up copy in existance. The game would always freeze at a certain point. I eventually traded for another copy, but that one has its own quirks, **sigh** ah well...

I regret buying RPG Maker for the PSone, sure it was somewhat entertaining, but I just didn't want to play it anymore. Silent Hill 4 was kind of a waste as well, I only played through it once and that's it, traded it in for some cash later on.

And recently my friend bought Marvel Nemises, and boy, did that game suck donkey balls. He's thinking about trading it in at our Game Stop, I don't blame him, I'd do it as well.

Blast chamber, If you find any game worse than this one, please tell me I'll be sure to not try it.

PS: It's a PSX game

FFO's good point was the graphical acceleration. But beside that, they made the game so easy even on normal mode that the game became being a bit pointless. We can still have 1 damage taking knights and 4k hitting monks. And if ti wasn't enough, attacks are redirected

They could have just adjusted the game with the new features but everything goes for an easier game

I regret buying games that become "obsolete" (for lack of a better term) and collect dust after picking up a game that diverts my time from others or a newer, more improved version or sequel that gives the regretted game a dust-covered cover. With that said, I may buy FFX-2 after hearing mixed reviews, but I may rent first or continue playing FFX until FFXII comes out. My Playstation 2 isn't going anywhere!

RPG Maker 3, Shadow Hearts, Lego Soccer Mania, Azurik, Battle Hunter and a whole bunch of other games I have since traded in. On a similar note, I regret buying an Xbox for the second time.

Fable
the overhyped game that was too short, too simple, too easy, and not that unique or breath-defying game

Edit
P.S i forgot to mention too linear...

I definitely agree with Fable (my husband bought it, not me. I don't think he finished it either). I couldn't stand it, stopped after less than 2 hours.

RPG Maker is one of my worst buys. The Dex Drive could import certain characters but hardly any good designs, the game didn't seem that finished when you think about it.

I agree, I first bought FFT and thought "what a waist of my money". I couldn't get into it, but one day I had a dream about it but it was at the time FFT seemed to cease to exist but I manged to find them at a store which no one bought games at but sold games (Mongomery Ward I believe it was called, it went out of business) and it seems they had games from years past that I was supised to see, unused and new. Breath of Fire III (unused) they didn't have any used games but man the collection they had was amazing.

I told people this is one game that deserved to be pirated. Not only did Peter lie and tell us about a game that never came out, his web site didn't change the features of Fable that were taken out till a month later.

I am happy to report, I was one of the many who spread the leaked Fable TLC around the internet. Well, all I did was point people to the right direction.

I bought Final Fantasy Mystic Quest for $15 at Target years ago. I could have bought some pencils, pens, paper or something else with that money.

Final Fantasy: Chystal Chronicles. I played for an hour or so and thought it was pretty good. But then when I realized that the entire game repeated itself and was just the same dungeons over and over and over again, I haven't played it. I got pretty far before I realized that it was the same and began to wonder why I kept playing.

Yoshi's Story springs to mind as one of the most disappointing games I've had the misfortune to own. In the wake of the utterly fantastic Yoshi's Island, still the best example of 2D platforming in existence IMO, this sequel lost all the cleverness and challenge and replaced it with rubbish cute dinosaur noises, and fruit. And really, really boring music. And boring levels. Of which there were only about 20. Which were dead short and looped. I'd better stop before I remember everything else that was wrong.

I'd say Deus Ex: Invisible War as well, but technically, I never bought it. I'm pretty glad about that.

Earthbound.

I never understood the praise it got. The game was one big clichéed slew of potty humor that cost as much as a brand new copy of Chrono Trigger at the time.

For which I traded it in. smile.gif

.hack infection. I was going through this RPG drought, and this was really the only thing about. I bought it, after reading some reviews that deemed it 'worth buying' on GameFAQS, and it entered the disc tray all of one time. I played for about 45 minutes, thinking 'maybe this will pick up. Maybe the plot won't suck. Maybe there'll be an attractive environment. Maybe the game won't be the least fun thing ever,' then I just tossed it on a desk and made a pretty £32 coaster out of it. sad.gif

Though, Morrowwind and Ico were gifts, and Metroid Prime came with my Gamecube. Im usually good about the games I buy.

Honestly, I thank god at the time I got it that people didn't like it. It had a huge story and amazing things that came along with it. I remember when they were selling this game for $5.00 each. Man, if I only could go back in time and buy a couple. Imagine how much they are worth on ebay

*checks*

Wow, some good auctions are going.

I dunno... keeping that... game... for so long only to make about 100-200 bucks off of it? I'd rather just go to work for a day or two instead and save myself a few years of trouble. wink.gif

Another one came to mind. Back in the late 90s when NES games were on sale in video rental stores for $5-10 each, I used to pick up a lot of NES games that seemed good but mostly unheard of just for the sake of giving them a chance. One of these was Hylide. Imagine Zelda 1. Get rid of all the items, including the sword (you attack by bumping things... somehow.) Get rid of all sense of direction the game gives you and any explanation on how to get through it. Make the graphics and sounds a little worse. That's Hylide.

It wasn't too bad, but I'm pretty sure I'd have had more fun picking up some other game. :/

Oh god, this reminds me of a game, were you are in some sort of castle or something and you walk around (the controls are inverted) and there is supposed to be a story but I pretty much never figured it out. I wonder what that old NES game is called?

I remember you had a big dark blue hat and suit but thats it and the controls were inverted which made the game really werid.

Was this some game you wish you'd never bought, or are you just changing the topic for no real reason? -R51

True Crimes: Streets Of LA. i cant even begin to describe the immense suck that radiates outward from this game. first, the physics are...chunky? it kinda feels like your character ranges from incredibly spastic to waaaaaay too sluggish. adding the D-O-double-G didn't help at all.

Legend of Dragoon. nice concept and all, but the storytelling was pretty hit or miss. i like having a little left to imagination in a game, not having a character say something like "i wanna blah blah blah because blah blah blah" why not just let us figure things out for ourselves?

Final Fantasy X-2. you all know why. but i'll just name a few reasons. 1) too upbeat and happy-go-ucky to be a final fantasy. 2) Yuna annoyed the ever loving <expletive delted> out of me. i mean, she saved the world from apacolyptic destruction and yet she acts like she didn't do anything. give yourself some credit!!! 3)Brother. the poses, the voice, the incest. incest, that's right, i said it. he's trying to get with his own COUSIN. that's...not...RIGHT!
