So, I was midway through my trek through the floating continent when it occurred to me that I've always taken Celes in my party, and that Celes plays a major role in the confrontation with Kefka and Gestahl.

Has anyone ever not taken Celes? How is the scene different without her? Do any of the other characters get a major focus? (Terra, perhaps?)

Well, i didn't take Celes, but Shadow joined at the beginning as always. I'm pretty sure Celes comes and joins the scene regardless. However, i have a bit of a vague memory, so it might need to be confirmed.

If you don't take her with you, she follows you and joins up at the Statues. The scene itself doesn't change.

Not at all Karasuman, Shadow leaves the party after you defeat Atma, so...even if Celes is not with you, she comes anyway, then Shadow comes, and your party escapes....its the same, the only difference is one more character "paralyzed" because of Kefka's power...( I don't remember that well..sorry). Also you get 4 characters during the escape....and that's all.

This game tends to solve those problems like that. If you didn't bring Celes she magically survived the entire FC by herself (quite a feat!) and comes anyway. The same goes for Shadow; supposedly mortally wounded when you meet him, you can choose to ignore him and finish the FC without him and he'll still appear to do his thing.

I always chose not to bring celes, for that very reason. When you're going through with 3 characters and shadow, and then shadow takes off, it's great to have a full party on your way back to the airship. makes your retreat that much faster so that you can get the 'chest' item on the platform by the end.

Celes was always in my party then. I had alwyas wonderd about that. I forgot the significance of her coming their after Atmos anywas. Any reminders?

Dead Winter. A nice comic.

First time I went there, I made my team into Locke, Cyan, and Edgar.. I wanted Celes in, but she was too low-leveled (LV23-24). That time I was about the overpowered characters, but now.. I'm the Locke, Terra, Celes, and Shadow user in the Floating Continent now

Oh yes, btw.. Even if you don't put Celes in, you'll just see her walking while the others are paralyzed by the Evil Gestahl Surprise Shock Fist Wave.

How do you get that treasure chest when you are escaping the floating island? The floor always crumbles before it.

You have to go around to get it. There's a certain place you can't go past when you're trying to get it, and I don't remember exactly how it works, but you have to go around to get it from the other side.

well, i didn't bring Celes, with me the same reasn NeoEx-Death didn't, she was too low leveled,
the people i always brought were terra, locke and edgar
