Hi there.

I have a quick question here for you all. It is about the game Secret of Evermore.

For those of you who played it, what did you think about the inclusion of Cecil in the game. For me personally it was kind of a sad, nostalgic feeling. It made me feel old too, since it had been a while since FF4. And it was cool.

It is funny how these lost little memories can take you places...

I remember that! He's the weapon/armor shopkeeper in Ebon Keep, right?

Well, I thought it was a pleasant surprise to see him there. FF IV was one of the games that got me started on RPGs, and seeing it's hero in a cameo was a nice little feature. I actually sort of wish that would happen in more Squenix games, but Secret of Evermore is the only one that comes to mind right now, and it wasn't even true Square (Square of America, right?).

Yes it was extremely well done and surprising... one of those timeless gaming moments.

SoE was done by Square America and is quite a bit different than other Square games of the time. For example compare SoE to Seiken Densetsu 3 (both done approx the same time).

'Cause I can't remember: He gives you the bazooka, right?

Anyway, I thought it was a cool li'l nod, too. Admittedly, it wasn't till my second playthrough that Cecil's presence actually "clicked". I believe I was half-asleep during that part my first time through. Heck, it wasn't even till just a few years ago that I finally realized Terra, Locke, Strago, Umaro, Mog (I think) and few other FFVI characters made cameos in the coliseum audience. unsure.gif

Seeing Cecil though, and wondering just how in the world he got there, is one of - if not my most - favorite part of the game.

I also really enjoy the fact that the song played in Ebon Keep is called "Cecil's Town". How appropriate.

And you probably won't get any answers for that here, since it pretty much has nothing to do with the topic. - Hanyou

Paladin. He wears no helmet so his purple hair is visible and has some kind of white-ish armor on. He also mentions something along the lines of "Rosa and I are doing well and decided to retire here" or something, it's been awhile.

It is not much of a plot. I assume you mean Secret of Evermore.

Basically a super genius creates a virtual world, then he and his family are warped there. Each family member rules a different continent. The hero is just some kid who stumbles into this world and wants out.
