Notice that the entire Northern portion of the town of Nikeah serves no perpuse to the game at all. It has so many houses and space, but absolutely nothing lies there (no treasure, cant enter houses). It's soo annoying and such a waste. Couldnt they have put something there/

Not every area has to contain something.

Maps would be pretty unrealistic if there weren't the occasional empty house or dead end.

Nikeah's Inn is in the northern half. tongue.gif

Not that you'll ever need it, though. sleep.gif

Not all areas in games have to serve a perpuse. I'm not even sure what a perpuse is. In this case, however, I'm pretty sure they do things like that to add some atmosphere and detail to a game, even when they don't really have anything of substance to add there. Would you be happier if there were a bunch of empty houses to explore?

Well, for your information, the northern houses of Nikeah contains an Adult Shop and a Gentleman's Club. Of course none of your characters can enter, they're too busy saving the world. People that go around saving the world clearly aren't thinking much about things like that...

In all seriousness: What, do you expect the world's largest trading center to be all outdoor bazaars? I personally would've liked it if they expanded Nikeah twofold and added more empty space to give it more of that good 'ol Open Bazaar field. But I do enjoy how they cram the middle section, making it look bustling. I dislike, however, when the people can't move and end up trapping me because of stupid random movement codings...

It's supposed to emphasize the point that it's a Port Town and there's a busy market down by the water. Of course, if they just had the market, people would be like "WHERE DO THEY LIVE?"

In my opinion.

Isn't it obvious? Nikeah is quite possibly full of some of the most intelligent NPC's in RPGdom - that is, they lock their doors.

Ya can't expect everyone to just allow you to rob them clean. In fact, the resident folks of Nikeah are quite good at that themselves; their prices early on accurately suggest highway robbery.

That old lady hangs out there. In the WOR, it provided ample space in which to hide from Kefka, as that seemed to be her desire. Not that it would have done her any good, what with Kefka's apparent omnipresence and light of judgment and all...

Maybe it's meant to imply something about Port cities, or countries with coasts in general. Cities are usually founded (especially in the time period the game is supposed to reflect) with ports or water access. Inland areas go largely unused (or made into farmland).

I thought there was this character named Edgar, I think he was the king of something? Last I checked he'd be thinking about that...like every time he's standing behind Terra/Celes (not going to explicity say Relm, though it's possible...) tongue.gif

Edgar is the king of Figaro and it's port town of South Figaro. He wanted in the bed with Terra in the beginning but got sidetracked with Kefka's invasion. As far as Celes goes, I don't believe Edgar ever had anything for her... or at least they didn't say so. I hardly doubt Relm, considering that she's 10 years old. (For those of you who watch Inuyasha, if he does think about Relm that way, Edgar must be a true-blue Miroku laugh.gif )

As far as Nikeah goes, I believe the northern part serves the purpose of:
1. An Inn (for those who don't know that Sabin scenario will end soon and for Celes's party at the beginning of WOR).
2. A chocobo stable
Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Useful for getting Mog's Water Rondo. Go on chocobo and follow the northern path to Gau's Father's House and go through Sabin's scenario all over again until you return to Nikeah after Serpent's Trench

3. A couple of hidden items in crates, barrels, etc.
4. Hideout for previously mentioned hideout lady.

lol gentlemans club and adult shop for edgar! that would make him a true-blue Miroku. But seriously i think they made the top half pretty much empty to keep people like you searching till their thumbs got sores on them from clicking on barrells and doors so much tongue.gif
