I'd have Cecil (Dark Knight), Yang, Kain, Edge, and Cid in my team.
Cecil and Yang would be the main attackers and healers, Cid will be the HP/MP/Weakness scouter and healer, Kain would Jump always, and Edge would throw lots of crap and use lots of magic on all the enemies |

Cecil- primary damage dealer
Kain- secondary damage dealer Edge- secondary damage dealer #2 Rosa- healer FuSoYa- Meteo....maybe that one cool ability he has that casts like haste and regen or something nifty like that, but mainly just Meteo. I never did like Rydia that much. -------------------- Is PJ |

Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Rosa, FuSoYa. Covers pretty much all the bases in terms of magic and attacking power.

Yeah, I'd trade in Edge for FuSoYa too, except I would miss his and Rydia's bickering.
I rather like the last team as it is. Yang just has to donate some HP/defense/strength to Edge, and everything would be cool. This post has been edited by L. I think the five 'primary' characters (Cecil, Kain, Rosa, Rydia, and Edge) is actually one of the most balance parties. You have Cecil (attacker/healer), Kain (attacker), Rosa (healer), Rydia (mage/summoner), and Edge (attacker/mage ((from his Ninja)).
FuSoYa could replace Rydia, though, and Yang could be used as Edge but with more power and HP, and no magic. |

I would have the party this way.
Cecil (Dark Knight) would be primary attacker especially with the Black Sword Kain because he does a lot of damage and I like "Jump" Rydia: You have got to have a caller in the game. Rosa: She is the only healer you need Yang: He is more powerful than Edge and Edge gets on my nerves. I think I would be willing to trade out Cecil for Golbez if it were possible though. -------------------- "Knowledge is power. Power corrupts. Study hard; be evil." |

I'd have Cecil (Paladin), Kain, Edge, Rydia and FuSoYa. I'd want FuSoYa instead of Rosa for his black magic.

If this is based on how characters are actually limited in the game, I would want the final party that is given to you. Other characters are too limited in their max stats.
If keeping a character meant that they continued to level appropriately, I would like to have Cecil (Paladin), Cecil (Dark Knight), Rosa, Kain, and Yang. Yes, I want Cecil twice. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

Quote (Karasuman) If keeping a character meant that they continued to level appropriately ...then, I would choose the all-mage team I always wanted: Cecil (Paladin) Rosa Rydia FuSoYa Edge I don't really like Kain. All he can do is jump, and in my opinion, that's rather limited. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. What can I say? I have nothing against the final party, although Yang might be nice instead of Edge. FuSoYa and Tella both suffer from having such low MP that they're mostly useless. Not to mention Tella has crappy magic power.
But FuSoYa, only 190 MP at level 50. Rydia's got more than that at half his level. And her magic gets more powerful. And she can summon. Rydia > FuSoYa In the end I'd probably keep it entirely the same save for Edge. And even that's pushing it because of the throwing. Not much beats chucking swords at an enemy for 6000 damage. I just talked myself out of changing. No, I like the final party, and I'd stick with it. It's balanced, quite powerful, and interesting, too. Much better than a team of identical-save-for-limit-break-ffvii-characters This post has been edited by Shinryu on 16th August 2005 07:25 |

The final party is probably the most balanced in the entire series. You have your heavy hitters (Cecil and Egde), your medium hitter (Kain), your attack mage (Rydia), and the healer (Rosa).
You really can't replace them with previous characters without shooting yourself in the foot one way or another. Yang's HP stops increasing at one of the middle levels. Dark Wave is only a good thing if Cecil is alone, is facing more than three enemies, if you're sure it will take everyone down, and you have alot of potions. The twins replacing Rydia and Rosa isn't a good idea because you move from having one magic strike and one healing turn to having one magic strike. They'd be okay if Twin magic was more than two medium-damage spells. FuSoYa would be better if Regen was better, but he would create a redundancy. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

I would have the final party members except for Kain. I would replace him with Yang. I'm sure there wold have been some great weopons he could have used, like SAbin.

The last party is great except Edge needs more hitpoints. YAng would be nice as a possible replacement for edge

i really like the last party. the only problem i have with edge is that he starts out weak. he grows really fast though, and is way more powerful than yang by anywhere close to the end

Quote (Dark Paladin @ 16th August 2005 15:23) The final party is probably the most balanced in the entire series. perhaps, but elsewhere in the series, the "final party" is completely open to your customisation. i don't understand why people would trade in rydia for fusoya. sure, fusoya has white magic, but rosa's white magic is more than you could ever possibly need. meteo is a great spell, but it suffers to bahamut, who can easily do 9999 across the board for a mere 60 mp. i might trade in kain. cid was a pretty serious character; if he had gotten weapons to the end of the game, he would probably have been the best straight physical fighter; he also has the highest hp. kain doesn't offer any profound new dimensions, might as well stick the best physical fighter you can. edge wasn't that great, either. he had low hps and bad defense, which means i had to waste time healing him every few hits he took. i don't know who i would put in. edge's ninjutu really doesn't add anything too great; you could probably put yang in there, if his stats grew properly. then, the team would be well-balanced. cecil is a great character all-around; surely the best character in ff4. rosa and rydia take care of all types of magic (rosa has additional functionality in that she can deal great damage on some enemies with the proper bow and arrows), and cid and yang will help cecil pile on the physical damage. |

I would choose:
Porom Cecil Kain Rosa Edge I dont know, they just seem like they would work well. Of course, I would need a Black Mage, so I might switch Rosa with Rydia.... -------------------- eh? |

Kain, Rosa, Rydia, Yang, Tellah.
What, no Cecil? You heard me. Kain trumps Cecil in attacking. I've always griped that I'd much rather have Yang than Edge. His Power move is simply great and once you level it up, Kick gets to be pretty useful as well. And I take Tellah over FuSoYa because Tellah has the better story surrounding him. But just so long as he got over 90 MP in the future, it'd be great. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

Cecil Paladin. Sadly the game IS rigged against DK and he woldn't survive with the armor he can wear
Kain for Jump Rydia for black magic calling FuSoYa white and black magics And... Cid? I like that guy, but i wonder if he can wear any good armor. -------------------- Targeted individual Jesse Radin |

I cheated at this game once, so I had all the best equipment for the whole game, and if I remember correctly Cid could equip Kain's best armor. And he has pretty high HP, so Cid could be a good defensive stalwart.
