I always figured it was pronounced the same as her name in FFVj: 'Lenna', but with an 'R'.

So you are saying Renna? Ren-na or Ren-a or possibly Re-na?

I say it 'Ray-na' too. Not 'Rei-na', 'Ren-na', or 'Bo-b', but 'Ray-na'. Others however clearly say it in other ways, so it's all good.
However, I also say Choc-Oh-Bo, Tee-Fa, Nah-Nah-Khi, Sell-Es, Strah-Go, Zi-Dan, and to pronounce the name of the lead character of FF8, I say 'tw-it'. Perhaps it's a British thing... but nonetheless, those other pronuciations may be veiwed very differently by others, and that proves one thing: Only the person who invented the name can tell us how to pronounce it, and it's a little more characterful, IMO, to allow varying pronuciations. (Any issues with my pronuciations of words other that Reina should naturally be taken up in a PM as they're technically off topic and only there to illustrate that I have a few other pronuciations that may be seen as a bit iffy) -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I pronounce it "RAY nah". However, I personally prefer the name Lenna.
For reference, I possess an Amerian English ('Americanese'?) accent, and I say CHOH coh boh, nah NAH key, SEE lees, STRAY goh, SEE sill, BUTZ, CARE-ah, GWEE doh, FAIR iss. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Quote (finalfantasygirl) So you are saying Renna? Ren-na or Ren-a or possibly Re-na? It'd depend on one's pronounciation of "Lenna". Personally, I pronounce it more like "Lay-nah", so yeah, "Ray-nah". Basically the same way everyone else described. Quote (NeoEx-Death) Bartz as BAHRTS and Butz as BUTT-S (lol) Last I heard, the correct pronounciation for "Butz" is actually "Bahtz". Can't remember the source. And that sound clip seems to be a little off on a few names, 'specially Cyan and Celes. "Cyan" is supposed to have a 'K' sound at the beginning, like the Japanese variant "Kian" or "Cayenne", instead of a 'C' sound like the color it just happens to share its spelling with. "Celes" is supposed to have emphasis on the 'es', giving it a more "Cel-EEs" sound rather than any similarity to the word "celestial". Course, that's horribly off-topic, so I should shut up while I'm at it.
