Has anyone else noticed that in the amano art for strago he's riding somthing like a gocart?

I think it's a hovering motorcycle of some sort. It probably isn't anything specific, just another one of the game's strange vehicles, like the Magitek and IAF. In another Amano artwork, Relm's riding a little red winged craft.
Though, really, ingame we don't see technology like that outside of Vector. Everything else seems to more or less remain very nineteenth century, so people tend to overlook it. -------------------- Wilson: "That smugness of yours really is an attractive quality." I reckon Amano just stuck them in something quirky and cute looking so they look cool. Seems they give Amano lots of leeway, trust his artistic senses. It has done them good in the past, don't you know.
And hey, I like Radia's explanation. Only makes sense that the ones involved with magic had technology, and Thamasa definitely had magic! -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |

I always thought of it as some sorta hoverbike. I know this is considered a big fault by some, but I pretty much ignore the Amano art in regards to the game. I consider the sprites to be the improved versions of the characters.

Quote And hey, I like Radia's explanation. Only makes sense that the ones involved with magic had technology, and Thamasa definitely had magic! Well, actually, that wasn't what I meant. Vector has high technology compared to the rest of the world, but I didn't even factor the magic in. ^^ I'd actually find it strange if Thamasa had technology like that, since it seems like a very backwater village. That's just me though. -------------------- Wilson: "That smugness of yours really is an attractive quality." House: "Thank you. It was either that or get my hair highlighted. I think it's to show he's a rather zany old guy. Which he is.

I seen Stargo's gocart, hovercraft or whatever it is in Amano's artwork. It would had been cool if you could use it in the game.

I agree with L. Cully, it's just in their 'cause it's quirky and odd.

Maybe they originally planned for him to have one of those? He's a zany old coot, yes, but not quite the zany old "gots me cataracts but I'ma gonna drive over that yonder gourge" coot as the picture depicts. To me, at least.
Could be they toned him down a bit and threw his hover bike/gocart/motorcycle/shopping cart out with his apparent wild streak. Everyone keeps mentioning how there is no other tecnology in the ffvi world except in vector. What abou figaro? How can anyone forget the sinking castle (suffering submarines!)?
Perhaps the gocarts were to run on magic, aznd thats why those crazy decendents of mages have them. -------------------- What if he shot you first instead of your secretary? I suppose I'd have to catch the bullet, wouldn't I |

Quote i'm probably gonna sound pretty stupid sayng this, but, what is an amano? An Amano. Hee. Yoshitaka Amano isn't an it, but a he. He's the concept artist for the FF series, since....FFIV? I'm not entirely sure. But he's the one responsible for all that ethereal, sketchy art where everyone in the universe look like they're members of a J-Rock band. Edit: Ok, I guess he's been doing the art since FFI. Oops. His artwork didn't become popular until VI anyway, so whatever. Yoshitaka Amano is the character designer/image illustrator for FF's I-VI and IX. He also created the world for (at the least) FFI.
In short, an Amano is a guy with a goatee, though there are probably other definitions I'm unaware of. Edit Ergh...too late.
