Rubber Johnny
We've all heard of this at some point (...what do you mean you haven't heard of it?! Oh come on... come on!! You're kidding, right? ![]() Allow me to present... the actual video. This is messed up and quite a headtrip. The weirdness of it all should be enough to entertain for a short while. ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

I've never heard of it, and I'm hesitant to click that link. Is it graphic?

It isn't graphic, but it's slightly distrubing in a "what the... heck is that?" kind of way.
It's work-safe, if that's what you mean. Kind of trippy, really. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

OOOOOooooooooooookay...
I thought there might be something else to it until the music started. Then I found the whole point of the thing was to be weird. That is the point of this thing, right? -------------------- -- You're Gonna Carry That Weight -- |

I've never heard of it, so I started it up not knowing what to expect. It was pretty creepy at first. There were some downright freaky bits, some weird bits, some 'what the hell' bits...
Then he started 'dancing.' That sort of ruined the whole creepiness factor for me and actually caused me to break into a bit of a grin. I know, that makes me seem like a horrible person, but he was 'popping wheelies' and allsorts to this strange techno soundtrack. Interesting video, though. |

That was odd. I was about to quit watching, but then the music hit and the little guy started dancing and firing beams of light all over the place. Fun.
What was up with the chihuahua? It's a short film by a dude named Chris Cunningham. I saw it earlier this month prolly from the same place you linked. The idea is that it's about a boy named Johnny who can change the shape of his body and is locked in a basement or some such place with only that chihuahua for company.
Chris is a pretty well known music video director that tends to lean towards techno stuph and I think does a lot of videos for the Aphex Twins. There was a video done awhile back that featured a monster screaming at this old lady that you may remember. He did that. I was actually expecting quite a bit more from this than a techno rave with a malformed kid who liked to smash his brains in and put 'em back together. Seems kinda...pointless. -------------------- |

From Wikipedia.org:
Rubber Johnny is a 6 minute experimental short film directed by Chris Cunningham in 2005, using music composed by Aphex Twin. The name Rubber Johnny is a pun, being a British slang for "condom" as well as a description of the main character. The DVD comes with an art book, containing stills from the film, as well as conceptual drawings, photographs and more. The concept for Rubber Johnny came from Cunningham imagining a raver morphing as he danced. The idea evolved to the present film, in which Johnny (played by Cunningham) is an isolated mutant child with a huge overgrown cranium, strapped into a wheelchair and locked in a basement. Capable of morphing his body, he spends his life trying to amuse himself and his dog, a terrified chihuahua. The film was originally intended to be a 30 second TV commercial for the Aphex Twin album drukqs, using the track "afx237 v7". However, Cunningham grew to like the concept more and more and decided to expand the concept into a longer length (the original commercial remains in the film in an altered form.) The film was shot partially in infrared night vision on digital video. The film's music is "afx237 v7 (w19rhbasement remix)", a remix made by Cunningham; the credits music is "gwarek2", also from drukqs. Synopsis Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow. The film starts out with a doctor trying to communicate with Johnny. Johnny seems rather unfocused, and answers "no" to every question. He then starts repeating something which sounds like "mama", to which the doctor asks whether he wants to see his mother. Johnny becomes nervous and violent and the doctor has to calm him down with a sedative injection. At this point the actual music video starts to begin. After the introduction of a blinking neon light, a rat climbing over a text decal of "WARP FILMS [...] PRESENT", and a condom with "Rubber Johnny" written on it being inflated and then popped, we see the dog eating food from his dish and starting to watch Johnny lying in his wheelchair with his huge head hanging out, moaning the word "Aphex". As soon as the music kicks in, the Johnny starts to "dance" in his wheelchair, acting and morphing to the beat of the music, spectated by the seemingly discomforted dog. At one scene he appears to insufflate a line of a white powder (presumably cocaine). The video is interrupted twice by someone (presumably the father of Johnny) opening the basement door and throwing various insults at Johnny. Although during both interruptions he is rather calm, the second time he's lying almost lifeless in his wheelchair, as he was in the beginning of the film. The second part of the video has scenes of Johnny pressing his face, hand, and foot rapidly against what appears to be a glass plate, splattering his head on every contact. -------------------- Join the Army, see the world, meet interesting people - and kill them. ~Pacifist Badge, 1978 |

All chihuahua's are good for is shivering and pissing themselves, anyway. I'd probably be scared s***less if I was locked in a basement with a freak of that caliber.
