I personally have some fave relic combinations, like:
GemBox+GoldHairpin - two spells in the price of one. GenjiGlove+ThiefGlove - two stealing attamtps a turn, I like it. GenjiGlove+Offerring - on Sabin it rocks!!! CherubRing+WallRing - untouchable on the Fanatics' Tower StormRing+RunningShoes - Umaro gets fast and fire-absorbant! What's not to like? Any other Ideas? -------------------- "I fell off the mountain of words at around the 10,000ft mark. Merit Award + Offering = duyth upon thine enemies (on Sabin, he's even more brutal than just a Genji & Offering) Genji Glove + Blackbelt = attack x2 whenever you're attacked. Really a great combo Offering + Blackbelt = attack x4 whenever you're attaked. Mythril Glove + Mythril Glove = good defensive boost early in the game Ribbon + Safety Bit = the ultimate combo in magic defense Gem Box + Economizer = the ultimate combo for a magic caster Muscle Belt + Tintibar = best way to keep HP up Crystal Orb + Gold Hairpin = best way to keep MP up Rage Ring + Atlas Armlet = powerful sasquatchal damage! that's what i got... -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

In addition to the other standards you gents have proposed:
WoB Combos: Hyper Wrist + Black Belt - Early on this is a great combo to have, especially for Sabin. Dragoon Boots + RunningShoes - This will make a character powerful and quite protected while in the air. Genji Glove + White Cape - Big damage, decent defense, especially when you have back row weapons. True Knight + Black Belt - Put this on a character with high physical defense. Gold Hairpin + Hero Ring/Earrings - Great for magic users. WoR Combos: Zephyr Cape + Beads / 2 Zephyr Capes - Put this on a character with naturally high evade (like Terra) and nothing will be able to hit her. ![]() Marvel Shoes + Ribbon - High magical/physical/status defense, plus haste. Merit Award + Marvel Shoes - Adds mucho defense to weaker characters like Strago, Relm, and Gogo. Just a question for anyone who might know - would equipping 2 Exp. Eggs be cumulative, or worthless? -------------------- "Hit hard, hit first, hit often." --Adm. William "Bull" Halsey, USN |

Two experience eggs, unfortunately, are worthless. I kept trying that when I would level up in the WoR by betting a Tintinabar to get a second.

That's alright Neal two eggs for two different characters.
Also another one of mine is a Shadow and Relm only Ribbon-Memento Ring For betting in the Colesseum this combo on Shadow is a must if he is really high level. The best way for this to work on Shadow is have him only learn Magic from Tritoch and Phoenix Espers. Get Locke and Tritoch first quickly then get Shadow back. Give Shadow Pheonix and Tritoch and level him up big time possibly 90 or when you're satisfied. Then bet what you want. Shadow will only use the cure magic and the high powered spells along with normal attacks. Also avoid giving him Striker instant kills on Undead are a pain. |

Go to the Colloseum and bid an Imp Halberd. Win and receive a Cat Hood. Bid the Cat Hood and you'll face a Land Worm whom has his prize labeled as ????. Defeat the Land Worm and you'll get a Merit Award. A Merit Award allows a character to equip everything. (ex: Strago can have the Pearl Lance, Relm can have the Cat Claws, etc.) The reason why I say Offering and Merit Award on Sabin is a potent combination is because of his awesome strength. Giving Sabin a Merit Award and equipping him with, say, the Excalibur or Scimitar and he'll be a one-man wrecking crew. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

"The Tank". Â Muscle Belt + Pod Bracelet. Â Pile on your hit points, and Safe and Shell lower your damage from all attacks. Â
"The Gambler". Â Offering + Merit Award. Â Put this on someone (Setzer, and you can use something besides the Merit Award) and equip the Fixed Dice (or poor man's Dice). Â The different dice are not affected by anything but the rolls you get (and, in the case of the Fixed Dice, your character level, I believe). Â Therefore you get four FULL attacks for the price of one. "The Berserker". Rage Ring + Gauntlet. Â The Gauntlet works differently on Umaro, boosting both his defense and attack substantially. Â So you get protection from fire and lightning, massive ATK and DEF bonuses, and the ability to whip your comrades around at enemies. Â Whoopah. "The Sorceror". Gem Box + Hero Ring. Â Boost your magic power, and cast double your spells. Â Gold Hairpins/Economizers/Crystal Orbs are nice, but you can just Osmose MP back, especially if you're casting two spells per turn. -------------------- I close my mouth now and I scream, Open the door, there's nothing worth redeeming I saw your face before in rough, You should wait around a while, your body's bound to turn up. Let me see...I used the basic combos:
Genji Glove+Offering on Sabin: 8 hits when he's leveled up a lot seems pretty tempting to me. ![]() Gem Box+Economizer: Come on; with Quick and this little deal, you're WAY too cheap to lose to any boss! Like I said, very basic...but it works. ![]() |

Genji glove and Offering. WE CAN'T FORGET THIS ONE. IT'S PROBABLY THE BEST!
Ribbon and Hero ring. That's what I give my magic user. Need to say anymore? Marvel shoes and hero ring. MWA MWA MWA HAA! All those support spells and more damage all around. Early in the game: Barrier ring and Mirilglove. Simple, when you get hurt, you become a lot more durable. And raises defense and magic a bit. not bad actually. But loses value pretty quickly. I have to say it's been covered in the other posts though. -------------------- Really Random Quote of the Day: "Short of changing human nature, therefore, the only way to achieve a practical, livable peace in a world of competing nations is to take the profit out of war." - Richard M. Relic Ring combined with any instant-death dealing weapon. When in trouble, attack yourself and bam, fully healed.
Fake Mustache, Coronet & Shell, because when you're trying to learn those Lore spells (easier with Coronet), you don't want to take a load of damage from the majority of elemental spells that Lores contain. Exp. Egg, Merit Award & Cat Hood, with this combination, almost anyone can equip the Cat Hood, which, when combined with the Exp. Egg nets you twice the experience points and gil after a battle. |

Heh, ANYWAY, let's get back on topic.
Pod Bracelet & RunningShoes, with this combo, you'll rarely ever meet defeat, because you'll attack twice as often and take half the damage as you would normally take. Hmmm, adding on a Green Beret will also lower your chances of death, because of it's HP increase. |

Can someone answer I question? I occasionally hear of the 120% m. block combo. I understand what it would do - make you nearly impossible to heat magically - but how do you attain it?
Dark Paladin: I gotta try that sometime. well, you'd learn X-Zone! Better idea: have only one party member, and equip them with two cursed rings a cursed shield, and nothing else. try to kill the enemy melee BEFORE condemmed kills you! and no life3 - that's for power players. ![]() -------------------- "Stupid People do stupid things, smart people outsmart each other" - System Of A Down, Ddevil |

I can't think of all the specific items, but it does involve a Force Shield and Illumina. However, the max Block/MBlock is something around 95%, so even though it shows as higher, you CAN still get hit... but what's 5%, really? ;-)

Anything with mblock will work not illumina and force shield necessary.
Evade do not work so m.block does all. at 128% it blocks ALL magic and physical... if it can be block. 100% doNOT block all and 128 don't block stuff like ultima. It's easier to get 128 on Celes and terra, try force stuff enhacer, bard's hat, minerva, white cape, ect. look at stats when you equip. -------------------- GESTAHL: Fuwa, ha, ha! Now THIS is power! I think everybody who plays FF3/6 uses Genji Glove - Offering at least once.
I used Muscle Belt - Exp. Egg once on Terra, when I was leveling her up. The last game I played (and still am playing), I spent the insane amounts of time stealing enough Genji Gloves from the Dragons on the Floating Continent to equip every single member with a Genji Glove. Crazy. A good tactic that I've found just this game is to equip Shadow with the Cursed Shield and a Ribbon - Memento Ring pairing so that he can fight past the time limit without dying, and the Ribbon counterracts most of the Shield's effects. Therefore, Shadow (and I guess, Relm, also) can be totally unaffected by the Shield's curse, even the "condemned" status. -------------------- ~Status Report~ * Completed... Cure Ring + Tintinabar: Great HP regeneration, especially when raising a character's stamina to 60+.
Cure Ring + Black Belt: Two very useful relics in effect at the same time. This keeps your character healthy while killing the enemies a lot quicker. This will turn the tide in many decisive battles. Cure Ring + RunningShoes: This keeps your character healthy while allowing him/her to attack faster. That's always a good thing. Cure Ring + Wall Ring: Can't cast Cure on your character? Well the Cure Ring helps keep that character healthy while being protected against magic attacks. I tend to stay away from relics that are cheap or make a character abnormal. What I mean by that is the Genji Glove makes a character not have a sheild anymore which is not standard. Now that character is a lot weaker and in tough battles it turns into a significant liability. Characters like Edgar and Cyan already die fast enough as it is. The Genji Glove just adds insult to injury. The Offering is just cheap. If a character can't deal big damage without these toys then they shouldn't be fighting. These relics just compensate for a character's lack of ability and take up relic slots that can be used for other important relics. That's my mentality behind the use of relics. -------------------- FFXI (Siren server) Tauu the Windurstian Tarutaru! White Mage & Paladin |

One of my first priorities in the WoR is to get at least one pair of Marvel Shoes (these shoes are by far my favourite Relic in the game; they give the wearer Safe+Shell+Haste+Regen; who wouldn't love them?). Then, using that one pair, the fight for the rest is a lot easier. When I have four, I will usually wait until I have everyone and everything else before getting any more, but I always pair up everything with a set of those amazing shoes:
Terra - Marvel Shoes + Economizer -She's a magic user...'nuff said Locke - Marvel Shoes + Genji Glove -Two Wing Edges = +14 Speed! Edgar - Marvel Shoes + Ribbon -My favourite character almost completely protected Sabin - Marvel Shoes + Genji Glove -I never allow Sabin only one weapon Cyan - Marvel Shoes + Offering/Genji Glove -Either way, he's dealing good damage Celes - Marvel Shoes + Economizer -I also use her as a mage Shadow - Marvel Shoes + Memento Ring -Since he's one of only two characters who can use it, why not use it? Gau - Marvel Shoes + Ribbon -Whatever... I don't use him... Strago - Marvel Shoes + Economizer -Grand Train for 1 MP! Relm Marvel Shoes + FakeMustache -Control! Mog - Marvel Shoes + Ribbon -This tends to be a default when "nothing appropriate comes to mind" Setzer - Marvel Shoes + Genji Glove -Two weapons works pretty well on him, though the Offering + Fixed Dice sounds good... Gogo - Marvel Shoes + Economizer -He, too, is magic-based* for me Umaro - Marvel Shoes/Blizzard Orb + Marvel Shoes/Rage Ring -I don't use him much, but when I do, I tend to switch around, I guess between using both his relics and one of them with the shoes *Note on Gogo: Although he can have any ability in the game, I like to make him like a normal character and give him the following commands (I rearrange them using the Window option in the config): Fight Mimic Magic Item That way, he appears to be a normal character, with his special ability being Mimic. Just something neat I like to do. ![]() This post has been edited by sbq92 on 5th March 2004 18:41 -------------------- --sbq92 <>< |

Okay here are mine:
Moogle Charm and Sprint Shoes: Whip thru dungeons and not have to deal with annoying enemies ![]() Genji Glove Offering: Ovious, but a good wpn. combo is illumina and atma with a lv. 99 character with 9999 HP Gem Box and Crystal Orb/ Economizer and Quick+Ultima: Ultimate magic power useful on the rumored bosses (Chaos, Tiamat, and CzarDragon). Exp. Egg and Muscle Belt: High HP and Dbl. Exp Fixed Dice and Offering: Useful it was how I beat the Guardian. Black Belt and Genji Glove/ Offering: Counter 2 or 4 times! and one of my favorites: 2 Pearl Lances, Genji Glove and offering: The Ultimate Pearl Attack, the best way to kill bosses and enemies that are weak to pearl. |

Quote (MorgueN @ 18th February 2003 03:52) Offering-Theif Glove work that one out. 'Cause of a bug, you steal only the last item that you get. C'est un pain dans la tasse... (Traduction libre de: this is a pain in the @$$...) (Frog's joke). Anyway, it's not a good combinaison and I think that the Gengi Glove and Thief Glove combinaison does the same thing, BUT I'm not sure. Can someone tell me, please? My best combinaison is Zephyr Cape + Marvel Shoes and anything that give at least 100% of MBlock. With that, I'm almost invincible ha ha ha! Or the classic Gengi Glove + Offering + Atma Weapon + Valiant Knife + Locke + a natural 128 of speed + lvl 99 + Haste Or maybe Gau + Merit Award + (relic that gives the best defense) + Snow Muffler + Gengi helmet + Paladin Shld to give him 255 defense. Every physical hit will do between 1 and 5 damage. ![]() Finally, late in the WOB, my best combinaison is Cure Ring + Running Shoes because you regenere faster. -------------------- «À l'aventure compagnons, je suis parti vers l'horizon!
