it was the most powerful weapon and it had uses besides choaping up opponents (hacking down bushes and other hard objects that the sword could remove)

Glove > j00 < Spear

See Math Is the Key to everything, Although I voted for the glove (because of it's charge up attacks), the spear is just too much to ignore.

Spear.  No doubt about it. The only weapon the main character ever used really.

I always liked the whip. It's only instant long ranged weapon with no limit (well actually 3)of how many monsters you hit.
Although it has one bad thing, it often misses monsters right infront of me  

my second favorite would be spear because its charge skills are strong and thirdly gloves, because sometimes you throw them...although I still dont' know how it works.

The Good
Sword - It's cutting power is a plus.  I like that it can cut bushes and those little pillar-like things that show up in other places.  Unfortunately, it can't cut stalagmites.  For power, though, it's a plus, and it's fun to use.

Spear - Omg yes.  For some reason I'm always drawn to characters with spears, and the spear is one of, if not the most powerful weapon in the game.  It's got great charge-up activities too.  One thing that I kinda like about the spear is that the person using it can jab with it but can also kinda whack people with it like Kain does in FF4, but in SoM it just seems more realistic since Kain does a slash-bop or something.  Tangent over.

Javelin - I heart the javelin.  It almost made me go out for the track team to throw the javelin but I was afraid I'd pretend it was a weapon and accidentally impale someone.

The Alright

Axe - It's kinda hefty, and in that case, it's slow.  I don't like the way it works even though it's powerful, and its charge-up attacks are lacking.

Whip - It's a great, quick weapon but the only reason it's in the alright is the lack of charge-up attacks - they really couldn't take it anywhere and the character always stays still.

Gloves - Cool charge up attacks, but you have to be SO CLOSE to hit enemies and that often leads to a lot of damage taken.  Hadouken!

Boomerang - It bores me but it can hit more than one enemy at once, so it can be handy.

Barf

Bow - Slow, not that long of range, crappy charge-attacks, and it can only hit one enemy at a time.  I loved how Nintendo Power described one of the bows as having a range of a half mile, except the bow in the game barely goes anywhere.  I'll take the javelin over it anyday.

That's just my opinions.  I voted for Spear in the long run.

Not only does it have the coolest powerup attacks.  Lvl 2 is one of my favorite.  FFFFFFFFFLLLLLLLAAAAAASSSSSSHHHH
UPPPPPPERRRRRRRRCUUUUUUUUTTTTTT!  (Flash Uppercut)  The Throw (really random normal attack) didn't do damage, i think, but it was a nice touch.  (Besides, it was one of the few weapons that my bro let me use.  He HAD TO HAVE THE AXE AND SPEAR!!!)

The only problems are that you don't know what saber you have and the short range...meh.
