This looks pretty cool! What's really interesting is the price tag, which isn't all that high (though still considerable for a mere keyboard.) For those of you too lazy to click, it's a keyboard with a display for each key. Suppose you were playing a game and the movement keys would be the traditional DOS layout (left a, right d, down s, up w), these keys could appear as arrow keys. Very neat. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

That's awesome.
I certainly could have used that as a child b/c I always got confused with the DOS standard UP/DOWN/LEFT/RIGHT settings |

Interesting keyboard. Although I don't think I'll be spending any more cash on computers for a good long while since I got my Alienware System.

Although it is cool, and if someone gave me one i would use it, I probably won't buy one. It's something else to go wrong on my computer! Short circuit in my keyboard and my computer is useless!

Wow. I know I'll probably never use a peice of computer hardware that cool in my life, but I love it.
It would definately help when playing Age of Empires or Warcraft. I'm too inept at using the keyboard shortcuts for that game. Plus it's all shiney ![]() -------------------- TURKEY! - (The only way not to get blocked for using Fowl Language) |

Whoah...that's some eye candy. I wouldn't shell out the cash for such a fancy-shmancy piece of hardware, but I gotta hand it to the creators.

What I really want to know is wether it has a firewall or not. I'm quite upset with hackers stealing my megaherz through my mouse port, I wouldn't want it to happen via my keyboard as well. Last time they got inside my mouse, I pulled the plug and threw away the offending device with the hackers still inside it. That ought to teach them. It'd be a bit costly with this keyboard however, and I'm reluctant to rely on such drastic measures if it can support a firewall.
But seriously now, what I love about it is how the keys are programmable based on the running application. You can set up different layouts for different games. Very nice. What intrigues me is how fast the display is. It'd be pretty damn cool making animations. I can just picture my spacebar turning into a loading bar. ![]() The futuristic look is sleek. Make one of these flat and see-through à -la plexiglass sheet, and you've got yourself a very futuristic-looking keyboard. If only flat keyboards weren't such a pain to type on.. Interesting idea. That would make me not have to relabel the keys every time I let my cousin play games on a different system's emulator...
...but I could just as easily use post-its. No thanks. I personally have good enough memory to know where the A, B, X, Y, Start, Select, L, R, CamUp, CamDn, CamLt, CamRt, Z, ...... keys are. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. Nice to see somebody utilize one but it also makes me sad 'cause that's one less I'd be able to think of. There's one thing that really impresses me, and that's the level of detail this thing can acheive. Not sure if anyone noticed, but in some pictures, particularly the zoom on the enter key, you can see tiny tiny LEDs.
That's a very fine display indeed. By my estimate, that Enter key is 64x80. Considering its size, that keyboard could be used as a 640x480 monitor. -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

And that is a good thing indeed! Hehe... if I get one I'll make SMILEY KEYS! Let's see... nobody actually USES those 1-9 keys up at the top, so that's where the smileys will go! YAY FOR SMILEYS!

This just makes me think of how hard it is to get Windows to recognize 3rd party keyboards, period. I can't even get my new wireless keyboard to work. I shudder to think of all the bugs inherent in a design like this.

VERY cool. If they can get it running smoothly and the price is reasonable, I'll definitely pick some up if I have some extra time and cash.

Let's see... nobody actually USES those 1-9 keys up at the top, so that's where the smileys will go! YAY FOR SMILEYS! Some of us do, having grown up on XT-style keyboards where the numeric keypad held the only arrow keys on the keyboard and numlock was off by default (a setting I continue to revert to). I'm a bit of a keyboard/mouse geek, and I'd love to have one of these provided the price weren't too ridiculous, but one thing bugs me -- the site seems to suggest, to me, that the same physical design could be used for any layout. This is clearly untrue, as there's nowhere for the UK backslash/pipe key to go. This would make it very difficult for me to use. |

I'd love to be able to look down for a quick key and still see my ZSNES screen on the main part of the board for example, or have two monitors without a second monitor. Perhaps I could rig it to watch TV as I type? Or maybe I'll just have a custom wallpaper over the whole board.
