I say you should at least be at level 35 for most of your people before you actually get to the world of ruin. the WoR isn't gonna be as easy as the WoB.

John: So you don't want your screen saver to come on for another four hours?
Me: Where does it say that?
John: Here where it was 240 minutes.
Me: Is that four hours?
John: Yeah, 60 X 4.
Me: Is that four hours, though?
John: ....They'll never take you back in school.

You'll be able to get by with LVL30's aslong as you have good magic and good Equipment. Although usualy my guys are 38-40. The world of Ruin isn't that hard really just make sure your guys are strong enough to pown everyone on the floating Island.

Well, if you're strong enough to make it through the Imperial Air Force, the boss after that, the Floating Continent, kill Atma, and make it out, you're pretty much good for the rest of the way. The monsters on the F. Continent are TOUGH, even more so than a lot of the initial monsters in the World of Ruin, so like I said, if you can make it past them, you're good.

I was at level 57 last time, because I want to steal Genji Glove from Dragon, and Leveling up with Celes, ( she got level 57), so when I reach the WoR all my characters have the same level ( 57), It worked and make WoR very easy...then I leveled up Setzer, Edgar and Celes when I got the Airship to level 99, and voilà ...everybody in the game has LV99! ( except for Gau, who was at level 57 no matter what..), I killed Phunbaba at the second encounter with Atma Weapon/Offering, ( he counter with BaBaBreath anyway, but he flashed like he was defeated, and in that fight Terra got learned Ultima..happy.gif), well that's about it, but normally I reached WoR with LV 26.

Usually, my characters are around level 25 to 30 by the end of the floating continent. On my most recent playthrough, I had Celes at lvl 29, Terra at lvl 32, and Sabin at lvl 28 as my floating continent party.

At my last playthrough my only characters at 30 were Terra and Celes. Most characters were around 27-28. Anything more than 30 is REALLY overkill.

I'm replaying the game right now and just about to hit the floating continent, and they're in about their mid-20's so.... I'd say late-20's by the time I'm finished the floating continent.

I too usually try to steal a few genji gloves from the dragons and so I end up in low-to-mid 40s

Only time I was having it hard was when I was fighting Gigantos in Floating Continent he does throath jab on everyone on the start 500-600 off everybody ouch had to use my summons that I rarely use.

The game's rather easy when you know a few tricks.

1- Stick people in the back row. You can survive attacks from even some floating continent monsters in a no-experience game if you're in the back row.
2- Gau is your ticket to some free level 2 elemental spells and high-end damaging attacks. Learn to use him.
3- Concentrate on boosting your MBlock. At 128, nothing can hit you. NOTHING. smile.gif

If the game can easily be beaten in a no-exp game, anything over level 20 should be sufficient to get through to WoR. ;P

Psh, it's not a matter of being a genius or not; hell, if I pulled off a low-level game once, then you sure don't need to be a genius to do it. tongue.gif

You just need to know a few things about how the game's battle system works. If you just go into battle using your strongest spells and healing when needed, you can win at a high enough level. But if you learn which options the game offers do what, you'll have quite a lot of strategy options at your disposal. Back row is one thing that definitely influences battles more than you'd imagine. wink.gif

Some characters and spells are pretty useful when you do give them a chance. This excludes Umaro, of course, because nobody likes him. wink.gif Gau can cast Fire2/Ice2/Bolt2 very early on for 0 MP when in rage mode. Muddling strong enemies gives you a serious advantage in battle. And even berzerk, when dealing with enemies with annoying spells or the Cult of Kefka tower's enemies, can help.

When you know these little tidbits, the game's really easy.

That's right there is no need to be a genius for knowing a thing or two about Final fantasy VI, experience is the best teacher that you can have in life. wink.gif , having High Magic Evasion helps because its both physical and magical evasion as well., on the topic: Any level is good when you reach WoR. Even so, I had a difficult time against two bosses ( with "normal" levels) Dullahan ( boss in Daryl's tomb), he's pretty strong...( got Lv?pearl ,Reflect??? , Pearl,) but if anyone pass this boss, its more than Ok to continue further in the game, the other one is Storm Dragon. ( which is optional), I got less than Lv 30 for Dullahan , by the way.

Dullahan is the easiest yet most boring battle ever when you know how it works.

Dullahan counters any attack with strong attacks that will probably kill your characters. Otherwise, his only attacks are spells. You have Celes. Celes has Runic. Dullahan dies when he's out of MP. Runic until he can't cast anymore, than just unload a single rasp spell on him.

Fight over, 0 damage to party. smile.gif

I was about in the low 30s, just because I took a trip on the Lete River JUST to make sure I could pass the Floating Continent with flying colors. Anything from 20-35 is fine, if your at 40-45, you're set for awhile.
