i am going to each of these conventions, and i was wondering if anybody else had plans to go to them.

for those who don't know, conventions are kind of like those silly star trek or star wars get togethers many of you have heard of with merchandise and contests ect, but have been too embarrassed to go to, or speak of. these are primarily video game and anime based. if you visit, be sure to say hi to me in the artist alley at the paradox-lost table!

Connecticon
July 15th-17th
Hartford, Connecticut

Otakon
August 19th-21st
Baltimore, Maryland

Anime USA
November 18th-20th
Vienna, Virginia

i'm also going to katsucon next year, but the dates haven't been announced for it yet.

i hope to see at least a few of you guys around!

Rich and I might be going to Otakon for a day. biggrin.gif Baltimore is about an hour away from us.

We're a little poor, but we do have a car and it wouldn't be hard to drive there. Might even take a few friends with us for the day. Are you staying in the main hotel? Or with someone?

Our main yearly convention is Balticon (science fiction and fantasy, and a little anime) which is also in Baltimore, in May.

Just soak it in, seriously.
The first time i went to a convention, my brain almost exploded.
It's better to just watch all the stuff going on, and participate in activities the next time you go. If San Diego wasn't so far away, I'm pretty sure I'd be at that one too. I think that will be a ginormous convention too. o.o

Elena - Seriously? If you guys go, I will so sit and draw for you right there at the table. Just for being awesome and showing up. < 3 XD

Living in Canada, plus on an island separate from the mainland, sorta limits my ability to attend cons sad.gif lol. but they always sound quite fun from what I've heard--So I hope you have a great time at those too smile.gif

Wow, I live maybe ten minutes from Vienna, and that weekend is exactly when my Thanksgiving break starts, I think, so I might see if I can find a group going. I bet that UVA's CAINE club is going, maybe I'll hitch along.

That Vienna convention is about a 20-minute drive from where I currently live in northern VA. Even though I've never been to a convention of any sort, hey, I may just stop by and say hello!

Rich has gone a few times, but this will be my first time, and I'm really hoping to be able to go. It'll be nice to meet you, too. smile.gif

NP: Wear clothing that isn't too hot (it gets really warm from the people), keep spare cash on you, bring snacks and water in case you have a hard time finding cheap food that you want. It's also a good idea to carry around a pen/pencil and paper, though as an artist you probably do that anyway.

Ah yes, another thing to any and or all new Con goers, there will be a lot of people.
And I mean a lot.
So those with anxiety of that...
You have been warned.

I'll doodle for any CoNgoer, even though I'm not supposed to be drawing.

As an update, Connecticon was amazing, but really ver stressful.
I won't be going to Otakon now, even though I would really like to.
If you go though there will be a Hikaroo portfolio and prints.
Yay!

I've only ever been to one convention, and only for about a half hour (slight emergency elsewhere). So, I'd really like to go to one, but I always have to work (curses his rent, bills, etc.)

That's a shame that you can't go to Otakon anymore. I'll post here if I go or not, it's a little up in the air for us too. Rich might be getting a better job soon! But we don't know. :-P

I used to go to Gen Con and San Diego Comic Con before I got married. Haven't been to one since. I'll see about going again once I get money and time to go.

Funny, I *might* go for the final day of that, because that's the very beginning of my Thanksgiving break, at home I live maybe ten minutes from Vienna, and two of my friends are planning on going. But I can't make any guarantees, I dunno if I can go.

But one convention I am attending for sure this year is MAGFest M4, since I'll be getting back to school from winter break right around that time and a bunch of Gamers' Club people will be there. I'll probably enter myself in the Soul Calibur 3 tournament just to figure out exactly how bad I am at that game, plus most of the NY gaming crowd is showing up (Justin Wong and most of the other Empire arcadiA guys will be there), so I'll get to see some of the best gamers in the world. I'm excited.

If I had the Time and Money (mostly the money sad.gif ), I would definatley go to one of those, sounds like a lot of fun.

Alas, I am but limited to the Celtic Faire in my town that comes by one weekend in March out of the entire year. Gives me a reason to wear my kilt! shifty.gif

Anyway, have fun and tell us about it!

Magfest is this weekend. Anyone in the central Virginia area should give it a try; I'll probably be lurking around some of the tournament games and maybe spend some time watching the Minibosses. Look for the UVA Drumline sweatshirt.

I ended up getting screwed out of being able to attend last years San Diego Comic Con. Not this year. Just got a thing in the mail informing me about this year and dammit, I'm f*cking going this time! Might even check out Wonder Con, whatever that is. I'm figuring anime...
