this is a problem for me... in the SNES version, she wears a green Bathingsuit lookin thingy, but in the official art (and playstation version i think) she wears some kind of yellow and black leotard!
![]() Also, what's the REAL color of terra's hair? ![]() -------------------- OBEY YOUR THIRST "Aww...They're SOOO CUUTE!! BUT WHO CARES!!!!?" -Excel Excel, Excel Saga |

According to me, she posed for a portrait wearing that black-and-yellow suit. However, I do believe (as according to the game), that she does indeed wear a white cape and a green swimsuit as her standard attire.
Why and how a general could go to battle wearing only a cape and a swimsuit is beyond my comprehension. Also, again according to the game, I believe Terra's hair is green. (There's actually a separate topic already made for that, as I remember.) Edit Okay, after reading a few more posts in here by people like Tonepoet and Elena99, that 'swimsuit' might be a bodysuit or leotard. But for all I know (and since I'm not female, I wouldn't know what the difference feels like), it's just some tight-fitting sleeveless suit, which, according to Tonepoet, could allow for easier movement (especially noting that she fights with a longsword/broadsword). Now, I haven't seen any swimming pools in FFVI. But if there were any, and if Celes were wearing a swimsuit, she could just jump in after taking off her cape (and shoulder-guards). Economically speaking, that could add a bit more utility to wearing a swimsuit. As for protecting Celes, though, none of those things (swimsuit, leotard, bodysuit) would really serve that purpose, unless it were made of some tough, flexible material (silk?), and still, it's rather thin. Terra's hair is green because it's green in the actual, original game and not just in concept. Even the menu pic that would be basicly be a slight variation of of Amano art was green. Still, I might like to point out that there's a poll about that somewhere around here. However, it's not the main topic at hand and I'm too lazy to link to link to it. 90% were in favor of green last I checked.
As for Celes, I'm going to have to go with the in game Green/White thing she wears. Once again because it made the final cut in the actual original game. They were going to go with the orange one, though I hear that there were issues with her looking like she was nude so they switched. Or am I confusing Celes with somebody else? There isn't much more I can say on this though, 'cept I'm going to sit and wait to see who says "Opera Outfit". . . Edit Well Glenn, capes are a very traditional thing to wear and the swim suit/leotard would allow for better movement. However, I think I'll opt out and say I've seen characters wearing weirder attires in that game. *Cough*Kefka and Gogo. *Cough* This post has been edited by Tonepoet on 18th July 2005 04:46 -------------------- |

I figured the yellow thing, but I usually draw her in a compromising outfit. Like, it's a pale green tube top thing, with a laceup vestey thing, and I decide on whether or not she wears the lace up pants or just a leotard bottom.
And the answer should be obvious as to why she'd wear a swimsuit. Guys get a bit funny with girls at the beach in swimsuit (as said in chat), of course they'll go funnier of a swimsuit-clad gal in warfare trying to kill them. Who wouldn't? ^.~ -------------------- You're telling me that there's no hope. I'm telling you you're wrong. |

I like to pretend that Celes is wearing proper trousers, has a little protection on her arms, and has at least a little support for her chest.
But, yeah, sprite seems to be a green bodysuit (like what gymnasts or dancers wear, I doubt it's a bathing suit), a white cape, and boots. And some sort of barrette in her hair. -------------------- I had an old signature. Now I've changed it. |

No-Name, one could just as easily post a picture of Celes in her Amano clothes to contradict that, so that one picture can't really serve as proof either way, you know?
![]() I'd say the correct answer is both. While I tend to scoff at both, as neither would be appropriate considering the game's time period, but to me, the green outfit with the cape looks like an imperial uniform (Leo also wears green), and the yellow is probably civilian wear she attained after her rescue in South Figaro. But the cartoon rule of one set of clothing is sort of silly anyway, so go with whatever you feel works best, even if that means making up something new. -------------------- Wilson: "That smugness of yours really is an attractive quality." I heard somewhere that Terra's hair changed from blonde (like in Amano's original concept art) to green (in the game) because there were already 2 other blonde girls (celes, relm) and they wanted them to be more distinguishable.
Celes is the only person whose outfit drasticly changed so much, I don't really get that... but I prefer the baige/black outfit, just because I feel kind of rediculous drawing her in a bathing suit ![]() |

Okay, I took a look for Figaro's version, and it was 404'd , and so, god help you all, I've done my best in Paint. Expanded by 400 times to look hideous. http://img351.imageshack.us/my.php?image=terra3ce.png {{Imageshack}} Still, to the topic that is supposed to be at hand, Celes wearing a swimsuit is a source of easy jokes for me in FF6 spoofs, so I can't complain. Still, it's a bit impractical, and illogical, so, perhaps, it may be better to cheat. She had her clothing that was obviously uniform removed from her when she was arrested. So she may very well be in her underwear. Calm down, 14 year olds, it's only a videogame! Of course, if I am to ever write serious fiction involving her, she's wearing Vectorian DPM's or Olive Green, or if I were able to draw, I'd draw her in OG's. Of course, we must all remember, it took untill FF7 before we could truly make out what people were wearing, and even then, we can still claim Cloud wears womens underwear. And few of them ever wore practical gear ayway. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I would say that's a green leotard, not a bathing suit. Granted, there's still no reason to go into battle with just a leotard covering your body. But then again, Mog goes into battle naked.
![]() It's just the character design; negated by the fact that you equip the characters with different armor throughout the course of the game. It looks cooler than if all the characters were strapped with armor. Video games are not supposed to cater 100% to realism. |

I tend to think that the sprite versions (of the girls especially) are there just to tell individual characters apart, and are not indicative of what they actually wear. That would be their Amano design. (Except for Terra's hair, which everyone knows is green because it's just cooler that way. ^_~)
EDIT: As long as we're talking about how we view her in our little fictiony heads, I think of her as wearing her yellow outfit (and variations thereof) once she's a Returner, and her green leotard/white cape combo (or some variation thereof) when she's an Imperial general. Actually, the design that satisfies me most in that respect is this one, from a Japanese fanartist (sorry, don't remember his/her name), which I like because it's got a 19th-century European general style to it; she's wearing a similar frock coat to Leo's (and Kefka's, if you can believe it), so there's consistancy in uniform; and it still has the elements of her sprite design (green, white, headband/tiara, cape, etc). Also seems a bit more practical for a general. Like a Celes/Beatrix costume fusion. EDIT 2: Love my Japanese fanart sites. It could actually be armor. There were plenty of men that went out on the battlefield without any arm or leg armor for the sake of movement and affordability. It's just colored weird, like Kain's blue armor.

I think the Terra one looks better (besides the blonde hair... ^_~) but the Celes one is a little drab and bummy-looking. When the sprites are so small, each character needs some really distinctive colors to make them stand out, and I dunno if the Celes sprite has that.
On the other hand, Terra's pink half-cape would have been pretty cool when she transformed, since it's sort of like a hint to her true nature. Or something. -------------------- Some ghost of me might greet my son the day he is delivered. Eternal Sleep, Track 1-1: The Blue Planet |

Why becuase ( I really don't know) Well most sprite desingnsare the same during the game except Locke and Terra and a couple of others. Also, I did a search, and found an image that might also be what TGT means:This image may actually be Celes, for all we know, but when I found it a second ago, it claimed it was Dagger. Usually, I use my imagination when it comes to Celes' outfit.
In the WoB, she would wear her green swimsuit looking thing with the cape. But the WoR comes in, nad her outfit it badly ripped and messed up. So she has to get a new outfit, hence the yellow jumpsuit thing. -------------------- John: So you don't want your screen saver to come on for another four hours? Me: Where does it say that?
