Don't double post. You get one E. Skill in Midgar near where Red XIII joins you in the Shinra building, a second one in a building in downtown Junon, a third in the City of the Ancients ruins north of Bone Village, and a fourth from the green chocobo in the Chocobo Sage's house.

E. Skill is one of my favorite materias and I usually max out or come close to maxing out four. Four or five of the spells you learn from it make it better than just about any magic materia.

I try, but I often end up just getting the more blatantly powerful E.Skills, really too lazy to get them all. I've always liked the Blue Mage class, however, and I'm sure it'd be a greatly useful materia, but it takes time and effort. sad.gif

Can you learn an enemy skill by having someone in your party cast it on someone who has an enemy skills materia equipped? I'm assuming so, since it's not possible to get all 24 on 4 materia. That's pretty cool.

I maxed all four of the materia out. Trine, Pandora's Box, and Bad Breath are the only ones you really have to go out of your way for when you have all four materia.

How do you get Pandora's Box on all four materia? Isn't it only cast the first time you kill a Dragon Zombie? That'll get you three...for the fourth, do you just cast it on yourself?

Pandora's Box is only cast once in the game. I believe there was a scripting error that prevents any other Dragon Zombie from casting it as a death-attack. You have to get it on all four when it's first cast.

Wow I'm an idiot....I forgot that you can equip more than one materia. That's embarrassing. blush.gif

Anyways, thanks for clearing that up, SN.

You can equip more than one materia on a single character, y'know. wink.gif

Yeah, putting all four on one character really saves time in getting those pesky one-hitters, like Shadow Flare, Chocobuckle, and even Lv. 4 Suicide.

Well, after putting this off-topic for a good 4-5 posts, I thought I'd actually respond this time.

I got all 24 enemy skills on a single enemy skill materia, since that's all I needed. happy.gif However, I soon encountered a terrible tragedy. I was in the crater, and Yuffie had the complete enemy skill materia (I don't know why...I don't even USE Yuffie). I went ahead and switched my team, swapping out Yuffie with Vincent or someone...I dunno and it's not important. I then realized that the materia wasn't in my inventory (inventory of materia...you know what I mean), and nobody had it equipped. I put Yuffie back in and it was gone. Nowhere to be found. Yuffie stole my materia!

It was after that incident that I stopped using Yuffie for good.

Well being a completeness freak, yes, I would always try to max out all 4 orbs, but!
What about Trine on the last one (the one gotten from Choco Sage's Home), how do you get Trine at all once the Materia Keeper is defeated?

alos, just to clarify:

(emphasis mine)

i'm not saying it was your intention to suggest the converse, but in fact (and it seems to be quite a few people who are unaware), you do *not* have to backtrack to the gaea cliff to get bad breath on eskills #4. malboro appears in the right path in north crater.

I dunno if this belongs in this thread, but when I first got Pandora's box, I was like...man that was weak, because it did like 2500 to two characters, and then missed me Cid. Now when I cast it, it usually barely tops over 5000 for 110 mp, where as my Ultima edges sometimes onto 7000 for 130 mp. Can somebody clarify the use for it[other than it ignores enemy def, the help screen solved that for me =]

Not sure 'bout that, Howie, but if you're not a completeness freak? Trine, Magic Hammer, ???, White Wind, Big Guard, and maybe Magic Breath are really all you need to have a rockin' good time for most of the game.

As for the last Trine, you have to save the Godo miniquest for disc 2 to get it.

to this date, and having beaten ff7 5, maybe 6 times, no i havent gotten all of them, mainly because shadow flare is so freakin difficult to get - and to answer a question way up there, no, i dont believe you can cast an enemy skill on yourself to get it, unless you count manipulate, which i dont :-P

Even though I already posted, let me just say thank you about the Godo/Trine thing.
It should've been obvious to me!
My next game I'll be sure to make ultra perfect, now that I know how to have 4 maxed out enemy skill orbs.

What's the point in getting absolutely everything? I've decided if I play this game again, I'd rather be far below max stats, as it makes for more enjoyable boss battles, where it takes more than two attacks to kill them.

Yeah but fatman i enjoy the feeling of completeness in a game. always striving for perfection is fun in itself. the first time i play a game i will run through it normally, then next time look for secrets and then a 3rd time try for absolute 100%

Mega ditto that, except I can't really claim to follow that track anymore, what with the net telling me everything for that second time utter sweep through of every secret.

For some reason, during this latest playthrough of FF7, I have been way more eager to level up and get all there is to get, etc, than I have been about advancing in the game itself. I think there's a part in every RPGamer that finds comfort in levelling up -- peace, if you will. Otherwise we would have gone crazy long ago. laugh.gif

lol, i acree l. cully - exp grinding, lvlng up - its a stress reliever (and generator ;-) ) usually though, i play a game through once, striving to get everything, every secret, by myself - then on the second playthrough (and there isnt always a 2nd) i read guides and get everything (to an extent - mastering every materia, nah, mastering all enemy skill, nah)

I dont think shadow flare was that hard to get, because everytime before I poked Ultima weapon, I'd save it, then smash him for some damage, and he'd leave. I found out that the damage you deal was cumulative, so that at the final battle at cosmo canyon area, I only had to deal like 20000 damage before he died. We thankfully I saved before that battle, and I reloaded the game, and put all my enemy skills on Cloud, who finished him off, and his final attack is shadow flare on the person who killed him [All I had to do was use Omnislash]
