I think you will find it is a joke. There are a few joke items in the game I believe. It does nothing, perhaps makes you laugh... you may be the first though, lol.

I'm pretty sure the answer is nothing, just like the 1/64 (or something like that) shinra soldiers and spare masamunes. The only purpose they serve is taking up inventory space.

Tissues themselves do nothing, but they do serve as a way to count how many times you've failed at winning in the Battle Arena. You can also sell them for one gil, but that purpose is next to useless.

well, you get them even if you win, shotgunnova - i got like 10,000 bp, final attack, and a tissue - the rumors about them, however, are always amusing to hear

It does absolutely nothing, which is why it is the best item in the game... I like collecting them... I have like a bajillion.

Actually, wasn't ash an item you could use to mix potions?
You can actually use Tissues to resurect general Leo, some would say... (noooo, reaaaallly ![]() ![]() -------------------- "Judge not a man by his thoughts and words, but by the quality and quantity of liquor in his possession and the likelyhood of him sharing." |

Quote would say... (noooo, reaaaallly ) Other than that, they are completely useless other than for a quick gil or to show off ("hey, I got 99 of 'em ") Except we're talking about FFVII not FFVI. I heard somewhere that in one japanese version of the game, if you grow you Restore materia enough, it can know a move called ressurect, and that if you go to where Aeris died and use it with a buch of tissues, Cloud breaks down crying and is all "WHY DID SHE HAVE TO DIE". Then, somehow, by and unlikely force of magic, the materia brings her back to life and she's with you again. No, I did not make this up, I saw it on another forum. It's probably either made up, or for some obsucure version of the game. Edit I may have missed a joke aabout the Leo thing. I hope not. ![]() This post has been edited by Barrylocke on 5th July 2005 23:59 -------------------- |

I heard it was put in the game to mean that you lost and to wipe your tears with it. I really don't know of any other reason it could be there. The game's been out for about 8 or 9 years and no one has found a use for it yet.

It could be that they only put it in the American version of the game so the people in Japan could laugh at us for spending all of these years trying to figure out the significance of a tissue.

Y'all are all wrong. You see, if you take the bottom off of your PS1, you'll see that there's a special slot that is not used in any other game. If, and ONLY if, you revived General Leo, you must take the save-battery out of your FFVI game cartridge, and place it in this slot. For your convenience, I've posted how to revive Leo, taken from the CoN information page...
To get Leo, you must play Final Fantasy VI for exactly 58:41. Then right when it turns to 58:42, walk into Gau's dad's house and talk to the man. He should say: "A weird General Dude just came into my house and went on the roof! Use this chair!" If you fixed the chair earlier, then you can use it to go on the roof. You now fight Leo and if you use a revivify on him, he says "Oh no you win. I will go to the place where the air is beneath the water." Then, if you go back to Daryl's tomb and use the Shovel you get at Thamasa for feeding the cat food to Gungho (The cat food is found in Mt. Zozo when you press A when touching every single wall until a switch appears. Press the switch and a new town will open near Narshe, and it's called Zagula. Once you're in Zagula everyone's a cat, and talk to the Cat in the Green house. Buy 33 scimitars from him when you have 44 scimitars and he'll give you Cat Food! The trick with the scimitars and cat food will only work if you've found the Lunkum Dagger in the Phoenix Cave, the most powerful dagger. It's in the room with the green torch. To get to the room with the green torch push the blue torch in the room with all the purple torches. To get to the room with purples torches you have to have put the beer in the old man's cup in the hidden bar in Zagula. In the hidden bar, there's an old man, and if you talk to him, he says "Empty cup. Need Beer!" The beer is the most valuable item in the game. In order to find it, you have to press the red button that is in Lockes house on the floating continent. In order to get back to the Floating Continent, simply walk into Thamasa and walk into the invisible door which is next to some trees. Then you'll go to a yellow room where the Atma Key is. Use the Atma Key on the hidden door in Narshe and Kekfa's tower will turn into the floating continent. Once you're there, go to Locke's house and push the red button to get the beer) Use the shovel in the place where you get the airship and you'll dig up Leo's dead body. Use Phoenix Down on him and he'll join you! You have to have 77 Scimitars and the Lunkum Dagger for it to work! P.S. You also have to find the Crazy Plunger in Locke's house! Good Luck! Oh here's a secret: Locke is an alien. You got that? Okay, now this next part was discovered by ME only. After reviving Leo and putting the battery in the PS1 slot, you must start a new game of FFVII on a memory card that has NEVER had a FFVII save-file on it before, even if you deleted it. Now this is important: do NOT use Barret AT ALL during this playthrough, except when you're required to. When you get to the Gold Saucer, you must get exactly 73 tissues. If you get this many, you'll notice that the tissue is now useable as an item! If you use it, it'll say that all 73 tissues were combined to form a "large tissue". Now continue to get normal tissues until you've obtained 73 "large tissues". Got it? Okay. The large tissues won't be useable... YET. Now continue on with your game as you normally would, except continue to not use Barrett. Now when you get to the part just before you enter the Temple of the Ancients, you need to go and get Aerith's final weapon and then enter the temple. While in the temple, when you find the hermit guy, he'll say something different! Here's the dialogue: "Say, where'd you get all those huge tissues? I bet I could make something outta those! Here, young girl, give me your rod." He'll then take her Final Weapon and dissapear for a few seconds. It turns out, he combined the 73 super-tissues with Aerith's final weapon to create an UMBRELLA! Don't forget to equip it on Aerith! Anywho, keep going, remembering to not use Barrett, and when you get to the Forgotten capital, at the final save point before Aerith's death, switch Barrett into the SECOND POSITION in your party. When you get to Aerith, you'll see Cloud almost killing her, yada yada yada, and then Sephiroth comes down and kill her! NOT! There's a DIFFERENT FMV which shows Sephy descending, but at the last minute... General Leo crashes in riding the Falcon, bringing a stong gust of wind with him. Aerith takes out her umbrella and the wind carries her up and away from Seph's blade! Sephiroth, suprised, hits the ground and bounces down the pillars, crashing into Barrett, stabbing him with his sword at the same time! Since you haven't used Barrett at all, he dies 'cause he's weak. You just saved Aerith! NOTE: I finished the post above, read it. I didn't finish earlier 'cause I something came up.
@bahumut: The Princess Guard is NOT Aerith's final weapon. Her real final weapon requires an ABSURDLY long sidequest to obtain. @Malshun: No, it's a joke where you revive General Leo and he saves Aerith from dying, and I made it up as I went along. -------------------- The island bathes in the sun's bright rays Distant hills wear a shroud of grey A lonely breeze whispers in the trees Sole witness to history ICO-You were there- |
