I can't believe there's something in FF6 that I need help with, but here I am, asking for help.

Okay, I'm playing the Anthology version on a PSX, because I bought Anthology quite a while ago and have been feeling guilt for not playing it. I'm in the world of ruin, I've done Daryl's tomb, and next up is to get Cyan, right? I saw the scene with the bird, I followed it to Zozo, and tried to get to Mt. Zozo.

I can't get through the room with the rusted shut door.

The character that is supposed to sell me the rust-rid is still saying the "Don't even think of jumping between buildings!" dialogue. I thought maybe I needed to do something else, so I got Mog and came back. Nothing. I got Relm and came back. Nothing. Now I went to get Shadow, and will finish that and try again, but I don't have high hopes.

I know I can beat the game without finding Cyan and killing that dragon that's in there, but dammit, I'll be short one great character and won't be able to get the magicite that you get from killing all the dragons.

Advice? I've already looked in the walkthrough. That was based off of the cartridge version anyway, IIRC.

The versions are identical. They didn't change any plot points between the two. Are you sure you're talking to the right guy to get the Rust-Rid? It's been aeons since I played. Beyond that, you'll just have to wait for someone more knowledgable to answer.

Shame you're not really here any more, we could use a better walkthrough. wink.gif

Mmh, I can't think of any other reason than the one that maybe you're talking to the wrong person. It should be the guy behind the pub who told you that Zozo is dangerous back in the World of Balance. (Sorry, I don't know how to describe it in a better way -.-)

Go to Miranda (I think it was) and talk to the girlfriend of the soldier that was in Mobliz.

I did go to Maranda and talk to the girl, but I'll try going and speaking with her again (the bird sequence happens after you talk to her, and that did happen).

The guy I'm talking to is the guy who says "It's dangerous! And don't even think of jumping between buildings." I've talked to every guy there I can, just in case.

Maybe today, I'll be lucky. tongue.gif

Josh: I thought you had that taken care of? Well, I'm at WoR anyway already. I might go in and edit it (I think I still have access) if I notice errors while looking through it. With your permission, of course.

I always thought the guy who sold it was in a building you climb. The only thing I can think of to do is go to Mobliz and see what's going on there? See if anyone says, "The soldier died" or something!
Good luck smile.gif

You're telling me that there's no hope.

I'm telling you you're wrong.

I looked at the event code out of curiosity what the exact trigger was, and it's, of course, the bird next to Lola's house. If you don't watch it fly to Zozo, you can't get Rust-Rid.

IOW, are you absolutely certain it's not there anymore? If there is a bird standing on the ground next to her house and it isn't moving, then it's obvious you didn't finish the sequence here. It isn't automatic and there's always the possibility you made a mistake. Anthology does that to people. :\

Thanks for the help. :-) I think I know what I did, now.

I just went back to Maranda and was able to do the bird sequence again. I went immediately to Zozo, and "touched" on the bird. I probably didn't do that the first time, and that's what makes the guy change his dialogue.

I have rust-rid, now. Yay.
