Okay not even sure if this is true or not so i thought i'd ask about it. A friend of mine told me a few weeks ago that he found something out about plans for square to ditch enix and make a Final Fantasy X-3 that would fill in the gaps left in X and X-2. Well he is my friend i dont really belive him cause i have heard nothing off of game faqs or any of those other sites about it. So has anyone heard this rumor as well and able to confirm it or is it just a load? He also mentioned something like it was to be on the ps3. Thanks in advance to those who can help me.

That rumor seems to be quite a hefty load of crap. While an FF X-3 is certainly possible in the future, there is certainly no solid information to be found about it now. Even less likely (and near impossible) is "Square ditching Enix" at this point. Enix was clearly the stronger company taking in Square, which had fallen on hard times then. First of all, if either of them were to break up the merger, it would be Enix, which has less to lose, so to speak. And second of all, They have so many projects already lined up through 2006 it would be a huge hassle to break up. All of us Americans who know nothing besides Final Fantasy are WRONG to assume that Square has always been the world's marquee RPG company. While I love Square dearly, Enix has clearly been the more successful company financially the past five or six years (thanks in large part to the disaster that was FF: TSW).

Poor FFX... Why'd they even have to make sequel anyhow? The ending was good and provided answers, but no, they went Charlie's Angels makeover and BOOM X2. Personally, X-3 doesn't sound likely to me, but if they do, why not a prequel, if anything. That's what I thought X-2 was going to be

Yeah, it sounds fake to me. I mean, wouldn't they've learned the FF sequels don't work?
Also...why isn't this in the General Squenix board? Moderator Edit Because I'm pretty much the mod who's got nothing better to do, and I don't catch everything first off. Quote (Shinjutsei @ 28th June 2005 19:25) Yeah, it sounds fake to me. I mean, wouldn't they've learned the FF sequels don't work? How's that? Final Fantasy X-2 sold 1 million copies in North America alone in 2 months. Despite all the griping that's heard about it, it's immensely liked. For that matter, there's only one other Final Fantasy sequel that's been released so far to compare with, that being the four episode Anime sequel to Final Fantasy V, Final Fantasy: the Legend of the Crystals. It's barely even all that known, but it's hardly an indication that "FF sequels don't work" in light of Final Fantasy X-2. In any event, there are two FFVII prequels and two sequels that will be part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. So far, of the one title that has been released (Final Fantasy VII: Before Crisis), it has done extremely well. -------------------- My Final Fantasy VII Plot Analysis "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing" — Edmund Burke |

I saw the words 'Final Fantasy X-3' and my first thought was "no".

I didnt like FFX-2 so even if they make FFX-3 i have no reason to play it unless its a prequel to FFX then i might play it , FFX was a great game and i wouldnt mind knowing more about tidus and his past etc.

I think a prequel would be awesome. The whole Zanarkand vs. Beville story line sounds very intriguing. I thought the beginning of FFX was so awesome, in futuristic Zanarkand and all. My RPG feelings were beginning to falter at that point, but I played that beginning in the store and WOW did I have to get that game. Little did I know, you'd never get to go back there....

Eh. It made a neat RPG anyway. But either way, FFX-3 I don't think is a possibility... and while I understand that Square had gone through some rough times, I'm not upset with anything they've done yet. This is including FF:TSW. This is including FF:Mystic Quest. This is including FFX-2.
It takes alot to disappoint me, and just because some aren't done EXACTLY perfect, doesn't mean that they aren't good games/stories. FFX/FFX-2 had one of the better storylines in my opinion. -------------------- |Daniel Wesley Rydell|Fanfiction.net| |

i also think a prequel would be awesome, but i rekon they shud patch things up with final fantasys because some poeple have lost hope with square-enix and arent bothering anymore, so they should come up with summin fresh instead of some charlies angels thing (final fantasy X-2), that was poor

How come people dislike X2 so much? It was fun and lighthearted. The confirmed happy ending was a plus for some I guess, but the one thing I'm still seething over is the fact that the 100% ending isn't a Movie Scene!

Despite all the griping that's heard about it, it's immensely liked. Just because they sold so many copies, doesn't mean that the game was well received or particularly liked. I am one of the many who enjoyed FFX, but hated FFX-2. I knew it was obviously a rumour, but when I saw the title of this thread my stomach turned. Besides, Square have got enough other spin-offs to keep 'em goin for a while... |

As stated above about the prequel of Bevelle and Zanarkandwould be pretty cool, maybe situated with Jecht as the main character in the war??? Neat idea IMO.
