EvilEye just gave me this link: http://www.cnn.com/2005/SHOWBIZ/Music/06/2...n.ap/index.html
Do you guys think there is a chance of this happening? I am leaning toward "quite possible" - I think the only member from the end of the band that he's not really on terms with is maybe D'Arcy - he and Chamberlin have featured on each other's solo work, and I think maybe Billy was on some of James Iha's stuff, too. I never saw the Pumpkins live. I didn't really get into them until it was too late. I'm drooling over this chance. Also, full page ad? God, Billy, you're a drama queen. Edit Now with more link to ad. Thanks, SSJC This post has been edited by Rangers51 on 22nd June 2005 16:05 -------------------- "To create something great, you need the means to make a lot of really bad crap." - Kevin Kelly Why aren't you shopping AmaCoN? |

As much as I'd love it to happen, I don't think it will. Entertainment Weekly did a big piece on/with him last month, and he sounded *very* guarded about the possibility.

Taken from a post I made elsewhere:
Quote This pleases me. If the Smashing Pumpkins reunite... all will be right with the world again. Well, not all, but a lot would be right with the world. Thank you, Billy. The world needs Smashing Pumpkins. Whether or not Jimmy, James, and D'arcy say "Ok" is another story really. But I'm glad Billy wants the Pumpkins back. I know that Jimmy would say yes. He and Billy have been tight even after the dismemberment of SP, being in the follow up project Zwan, and then both guest appearing on each other's solo projects. But as the article reads, he doesn't have a very good relationship with James, and his with D'arcy was so bad that she wouldn't even play with them on their farewell tour. I can see James coming back to the Pumpkins though. Right now, he's the rhythm guitarist for A Perfect Circle. However, APC is in a state of flux because Twiggy left the band, or on "temporary leave" or however he put it. So James' future with APC is unforseeable. Why not go back to the Pumpkins where he would be more appreciated? Or better, how about play in both. Maybe that'll pull together a Smashing Pumpkins/A Perfect Circle/Tool massive world tour. Holy shit, that'd be awesome^12738383494. I'd pay an exhorbent amount to see that concert. As for D'arcy, well... I easily see her never coming back. But that's ok, they can just recruit Melissa Auf Der Mar again. It's not like she's doing anything important anyway, what with the Hole reunion far from happening (ie: Never), and a solo career that anyone would give up to join an elite alt-rock band like the Pumpkins. The music world needs the Smashing Pumpkins! I really hope James can be swayed back into the fold. To me, that seems to be the only question mark if this happens or not. I wouldn't care if they don't record any new material. I wouldn't care if they disband months afterward. But if they did a reunion tour, there is no amount of money that'd stop me from going to a venue. It pleases me that Corgan admits to needing the Pumpkins. Now we're going to see what the others think. Woo. -------------------- "When I turn the page The corner bends into the perfect dog ear As if the words knew I'd need them again But at the time, I didn't see it." ~"This Ain't a Surfin' Movie" - Minus the Bear |

This would be the greatest thing to happen this year, aside from the fact that Tool's new album will (hopefully) be released this year

I wasn't too big a fan of their later albums, but having them get back together would be better than seperate solo efforts, you'd think. I'm fairly excited about the prospect.

Corgan to Smashing Pumpkins: My solo stuff ain't doing so great, help me out would ya?
I can't say I'm too excited about this. I enjoyed The Smashing Pumpkins a long time ago, but their later stuff really stunk in my opinion and they kinda just phased out with the rest of the grundge era artists. -------------------- "That Light has bestowed upon me the greatest black magic!" |

I just wish there would be some good music. If Corgan makes it, fine.
