In the character section of the Creation Data Collection book, Mog's most prized posetion is listed as "a crystal ball charm given by his lover, Moruru". That is intriquing, so I checked to see if there actually was a moguri called Moruru in the battle in the Narshe caves.
And there is. Moruru is the second moguri in Mog's party - called Morl in the retranslation, I think. (I didn't try to figure out which one in the English version though.) Most of the moguri are similar statistically - they have roughly 150-170 hp. Mog and Moruru are exceptions. Mog is around 210; Moruru, 85. This low number (and being right next to Mog in the party lineup) could be taken as a sign that Moruru really is a girl, and that the game staff really did have a mate in mind for Mog. -------------------- "Cavefish is delicious, but only if cooked." |

Intriguing... if only we'd seen more of her.

the "moogle charm" (which avoids random battles) was originally called "Moruru's charm" in ff6j

Cool. Good work figuring that one out; it's been a while since someone actually posted some novel, genuinely interesting FFVI information around here. I've always been interested in the various discrepancies between the Japanese and English versions of the game, and this appears to be one of the more entertaining incarnations.

I just checked out FFIII US, and the name of this particular moogle with low HP, fighting next to Mog, is Kuku. I can only assume that this name doesn't stand out thanks to everyone's favourite FFIII translator (other moogle names: Kuru, Kupep, Kumama, etc.) giving all of them similar names.
Poor Mog! He must have been extra lonely in the World of Ruin without his girlfriend. Keep these tidbits coming, Shiva, I'm sure that many people will be fascinated to hear more from that book! -------------------- Cannis Rules: Balance of Power - My favourite Yuri's Revenge Mod |

I knew about Kuku (can't remember where I heard it, though), but what I think must be the Strategy Guide just lists 'Amulet' as his Treasure, nothing about its meaning.

I've heard of this before too, though I never looked to see if Kuku was the same moogle.
What I'm wondering is since the moogles in the Narshe cave battle - with the exception of Mog - are, statwise, stand-ins for the playable characters you get later in the game (or so I've heard; any hacker here would know what I'm talking about better than I would), who does Moruru/Kuku translate to? Now THAT could be badfic fodder. -------------------- Words of Wisdom: If something can go wrong, it will. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. That's so cute. ^.^ I like how they used every way they could to portray it, like manipulating her HPs and putting her by Mog and such without being a main character.

I'd been looking for some confirmation on this, but never could find anything definite..a few months ago, I saw something on some webpage I unfortunately can't remember at the moment about the Moogle Charm being "Morul's Charm" in Japan and that Morul was Mog's girlfriend..looking up Sky Render's document on FF3/6 differences, they have Morul as Kuku. Does anyone possibly know the webpage I'm talking about? It had that and a whole bunch of other interesting tidbits on FF6, if I remember correctly.

Yet again i am impressed how people still find new tidbits on a game that has been up for almost a decade... Well, the only part i ever though Mog was lonely is in WoR before our party found him in his cave. However, look at the direction Mog was facing when u find him. Of course, he was examining his moogle charm, or maybe he was thinking back at his departed gal?

Quote Now THAT could be badfic fodder. Mighty sorry to dissapoint you, but Moogle stats are horrible, and Kuku's no exception. So, stat-wise, other than other Moogles, she comes closest to Ghost # 1. So any kind of fanfic would probably spiral down into a vortex of madness. MADNESS. -------------------- |

Remember when Mog says this ( in the WoR): " Don't scare me like that!", maybe he was indeed thinking deeply on his departed love, when he was looking at his Moogle charm..., besides if it was Moruru's charm, ( and no MoGuRi charm), makes perfect sense for me. Well thats an intresting fact, i always thought mog was a girl simply cause of his dance ablitly. I also didnt know that about the moogle charm either i have to say that is an intresting tidbit. The one thing i want to point out is that they never actually say what happen to the other moogles, theres a chance there still alive and fled narshe. Mog might have stayed behind because he was the strongest and was trying to protect the homestead? Just a theroy really but i have a feeling the moogles never turely died.
