X-Men 3 the movie is possibly filming this summer and the earliest release I've seen is May 2006. They finally replaced the director because that bastard Brian Singer went to do Superman, which is already ruined because they picked a bad custome and actor, I suppose. Most comic book movies tend to make the characters seem high and mighty and don't get characters right. Don't even make me start on Batman and Robin... The 1st X-Men movie revived the comic book movie genre and it continues to revitalize it. With the upcoming release of Fantastic Four(my opinion, it already sucks), comic book movies are coming out like crazy. Hopefully Gambit, Colossus, Beast, Angel and Jubilee will have more of an impact on this movie. Brian Singer failed to do many things, including group fights, Sentinels, Juggernaut, ALL original characters and he then replaced General Kincaid with William Stryker? Then, he made Deathstrike a mutant, not a cyborg and completely ruined Rogue by not giving her a GOOD accent and then picking an actress with buck teeth(Weird, huh?). Hopefully, the new director will save the movie and put some ingenuity into it.

Having never read the comics (just remembering parts of the cartoon), I'll be excited whenever it comes out. smile.gif

Aside from the Fantastic Four bash, I'm going to have to agree with your post in it's entirety. And I am COMPLETELY psyched for this movie. Marvel Comics just get this feeling in me that nothing else can, it's great.

I'd like to see a few more of the evil mutants though, personally, some of them were just so deliciously evil. And then there were others who made me laugh my ass off. Apocalypse, Mr. Sinister, The Blob, Arcade.

And I would really, really like to see a big group fight against an army of sentinels, but, eh, that's just me.

Wow may 2006 huh? I can't wait. i don't know about the rest of you but i thought the first two rocked! and i hope the next one is just as awesome. The only thing i didn't like was the fact that they made it seem like Saber tooth kicked the bucket. I mean if he's dead what will wolverine do the rest of in the movies?.

Wolverine will continue to kick ass, take names, and try to recover his memory. Bub. 'sides that, Sabertooth isn't the only thing that Wolverine ever has stories with, Sabertooth is just one of the more frequent ones. The movie really did a disservice to the comics, and Wolverine, by turning Lady Deathstrike into a mutant.

James Marsden(AKA Cyclops) is definitely not returning to X3 and it's because he remains loyal to the traitor Singer. Anyways, whether or not Cyclops will return will be determined later and for sure Beast is going to be a new character played by the Frasier star whose name has escaped me. Also, the Dark Phoenix saga is not the main event as reported by Fox. Well, the Wolverine and Magneto spinoffs should be nice... I sortof felt like Rogue, Iceman, Colossus, Shadowcat and Jubilee were more of just cameo appearances and I hope that they don't do the same for Gambit and Beast. Hopefully they'll put Angel because of the lack of original chars. Supposedly, Jean-Claude Van-Damm is going to play Gambit...

Despite the fact that the first two were quite horrible, I still find myself looking forward to the upcoming movie. I hope they replace James Marsden (*barely believable as a person).

Though I really liked the first two, the casting situation for X3 seems to get worse and worse. Kelsey Grammer as Beast was barely tolerable in and of itself, but now IMDB reports that Alan Cummings will not be returning for the Nightcrawler role for some unspecified reason. I don't even like Alan Cummings, and I still think he did a fantastic job with one of the most intriguing mutants in the X-Universe, and I doubt they can replace him and/or axe the character from the script without some serious loss of quality.

Another problem I can see with the upcoming movie is that Jean Grey's fate at the end of X2 seems to point towards X3 loosely covering the Phoenix saga of the X-Men canon, which was one of the most needlessly convoluted and pointless storylines in comic book history. Hopefully they won't spend too much time focused on the multiple Jean Grey and Madelyne Pryor nonsense, to say nothing of that "Phoenix Force" garbage. With any luck, they'll skip it entirely.

This is all premature postulation, considering that the movie is very far from release. Still, I can't shake the feeling that this one might turn out to be a letdown, especially considering the fine quality of its predecessors.

Meh. I couldn't really care less about X3... or X anything for that matter... unless Gambit has a major role, anyway. Gambit roxxors!

When I just saw the thread's title, I thought it was going to be another FF sequel. Thank god it wasn't. biggrin.gif

Well, I've never been a part of the following that reads all the comic books and has the animated series on video tape, but I enjoy the series. The first movie was done very nicely, and while I can't say if it was true to the events in the comics, I enjoyed it.

Didn't see the second one, I think, unless that was the one with the guy who could explode and go through walls (Nightcrawler?).

Well, unlike Shotgunnova, I thought this was something involving Mega Man X3 (although I did kinda wonder how they could make a movie out of a game with a pretty lame plot).

But I've never really cared about X-Men anyways. Although...didn't they only have one X-Men movie before this? Or maybe I'm just misremembering.

What's with calling Singer a traitor? I'd figure you'd love his departure considering how bad the first two were. He's making plenty of bad choices with the new Superman already, from what I've seen.

You're misremembering. First one was about Magneto trying to fry all the world leaders from the Statue of Liberty. Second one was about the government trying to genocide all mutants.
It's okay. They kinda bleed together in my mind as well.

Considering it's Marvel, that's very possible.

From a script review I've read, it looks to be utter crap:

Possible spoilers: highlight to view
Ok, here is a summary of that review (from what I remember): Jean comes back, and accidently kills Scott with her Phoenix powers. Beast will make a prominant role in this one, but Gambit will only have bits and pieces (he escapes from jail when Magneto busts some of the bad mutants out), and the whole script revovles around a serum. Iceman will have a crush on Kitty Pride (I THINK, don't freak out and go, "That Colosuses's chick!", but I'm pretty sure its Kitty Pride), which will cause a love triangle between him, Kitty, and Rogue. There is also a scene in the Danger Room with Iceman and Rogue. From what I've read also, Wolverine will be in it, but not that much. Storm will also take over the X-Men when Scott dies.

This can all change, so please don't freak out.

Oh, and I heard Venus (or Serena) Williams will be cast as one of the mutants in X3. I forgot the name, but she seduces one of the characters or something....yeah....is Brett Ratner crazy, cause the Williams sisters are ugly.

Being as how they wrote Kitty to be eleven or twelve in X2, they may not be able to link her with Colossus this time around. I suppose it depends on what sort of silly script buggery or time lapses they deal with.

In terms of the rest of my thoughts, Super_Moogle has them pretty concisely written down. But we've discussed this movie in chat at least a half a dozen times now. smile.gif

And IMDB doesn't make any mention of the involvement of either Williams sister, but I know at least Serena is trying to do more acting. But clearly, she shouldn't be allowed to because she's ugly. huh.gif

Haha... nightwalker... anywho, I'm definately looking foward to X3. Phoenix is my favorite character in the whole X-men thing, along with Gambit, and judging by the end of X2, Phoenix will definately be a focus of the plot. I didn't like the Phoenix thing in the comics, but the movie could take bits and pieces from it and make it better, I wouldn't really care if it didn't follow the comics. I don't read 'em that much, so if deviating from the story makes it BETTER, then I'm all for it.

I seriously hope that Gambit has at least a semi-major role.
