I believe the poll is rather self-explanatory, but the question asks you what you believe is the relation between Cara/Krile and Galuf.
DO NOT READ the following spoiler until you've voted, or the idea of this poll won't work. Possible spoilers: highlight to view I'm trying to check a piece of information about the various game versions that I've read somewhere. Therefore, there are two choices which I expect to see garner the most votes. I refuse to say which two yet. Edit: My apologies for the poll displaying apostrophes as\'. I've been told by the mods that this is a bug on the forum. The majority of my experience is with a ROM, so she's Cara, Galufs' granddaughter. It explicitly says 'Grandpa, you idiot!' in my version.

In Val Castle, one of the guards says that Krile's parents went to the Groceana Desert to save a dragon, and they were never heard from again.

Where did you get "father" from?
Others have already shown how the game is unambiguous for him being grandfather, and I played the Cara version. -------------------- "I had to write four novels before they let me write comic books." -Brad Meltzer |

hey, the only "Papa" is king tycoon...Galuf/Garaf is explicited called "granpa" many times in the game, like the Siren fight in graveyard of ships, Krile talking with Mid about Cid..blah blah..so this poll is meaningless

***DO NOT READ THIS POST UNTIL YOU HAVE VOTED***
I actually grabbed a full-text walkthrough of both the Super Famicom translated and the Playstation versions of the game a while ago. It was, kind of literally, two walkthroughs in one. What I did notice, however, was that while Cara was referred to as Galuf's granddaughter, Krile was referred to as Galuf's daughter. From what I'm reading here, I'm assuming that it was a mistake. Yes, that's what I was trying to find out. -------------------- Check the "What games are you playing at the moment?" thread for updates on what I've been playing. You can find me on the Fediverse! Agreed, I have played both the PSX and ROM versions of FFV and both times Cara/Krile was refered as a granddaughter. In my opinion though I would rather have Galuf then Cara/Krile.

I always thought that Krile/Cara was Galufs granddaughter because, as earlier mentioned, Krile calls Galuf Grandpa during the siren battle, with mid and cid, Etc.
But this is only because i have only gotten to the second world, so i could be slightly mistaken. -------------------- <DrkMagimaster282> MWAHAHA. Sometimes, they use "grandfather" (or "grandmother") to mean "hey, you, old person." I don't know if that had an effect on the translation or not.
I'm sorry that this question really sucks, but who is Cara? If it's an alternate name for Krile, why do they each get separate poll responses? (Isn't the question about the Galuf-blond girl relationship, not about her name?) This post has been edited by karasuman on 5th May 2005 14:26 -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

and i could ask with the same incredulity, "i'm sorry, but who is krile? is that just a poor transliteration of 'kururu?'" while it's undeniably true that the japanese use "爺さん" quite liberally for the elderly (and sometimes even the middle-aged), the case in ffv was that galuf was the familial grandfather.
edit: i beleive the reason they get seperate poll responses is that gmh wanted to explore whether the fan translation of the game that uses "cara" refers to galuf as her "grandfather," and whether the translation using "krile" has "father." Quote (gozaru~ @ 5th May 2005 10:50) and i could ask with the same incredulity, "i'm sorry, but who is krile? is that just a poor transliteration of 'kururu?'" The only version of FFV that I've had any exposure to is the FFA release for PS. I honestly did not know whether Cara was another name she had in the story (that I somehow missed), another version of the same name, or what. Keep the snarkiness in a can, next time, please. -------------------- Veni, vidi, dormivi. |

I think Galuf is Krile's grandfather, since I always thought that Galuf was the oldest person in the party, and he looked old enough to be a grandfather.

I'm going to side with everyone else with the fact that Galuf is indeed Krile's grandfather. I have the PSone version and it's been stated multiple times throughout the game of their relationship.

I agree. I remember the soilder saying the whole, parents were never seen again thing. I do have a question. Does anyone no who Galuf is a father to. Was it the father of Cara or the mother?

Hmm.. I don't like identical options on that poll, GMH.. Just responding nicely. I voted Cara's grandfather. I believe that she was adopted by Galuf after her parents were never seen. That's why she had the title "princess" in Bal/Val Castle.
