Advent Children has been given an official Japanese release date of September 14, 2005. Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Final Fantasy VII digitally animated movie sequel, announced the date and promised that the movie will experience no further delays. US release is expected to closely follow that of Japan.

According to previous announcements from Sony Computer Entertainment, Advent Children will be available in DVD and the Sony-PSP-friendly "UMD" formats. It will carry a price tag of 4,800 yen ($44-$48) in Japan. No word has yet been given on a US price tag.

This will be Tetsuya Nomura's first feature-length film, though he has long been affiliated with Square Enix and the Final Fantasy series. Nomura has worked on character design and graphics for such games as Final Fantasy X and Chrono Trigger, as well as the original Final Fantasy VII.

Further information may be found at Square Enix's Official Advent Children Site and the unofficial AdventChildren.net.

Hmmm, well September is when the PSP finally makes an official landing on UK shores, and it doesn't look like we'll get this film untill deep into winter, maybe even 2006. Looks like I'm going to have to look at importing. blink.gif

Man, I really, really hope that this isn't going to be on the same level as Spirits Within. I do like that movie, but even fans of it have to admit the storyline sucked. If that happens, there is no possible way I'd pay even 30 dollars for something like that, no matter how much the animation awes me (probably).

Something about this movie's been scratching around the back of my mind for a while, maybe someone can help settle it: will the lip-syncing be redone for the English version of the film? I think it would be pretty stupid if they just do voice-overs of the original Japanese lip-syncing, but it seems that it would take a long time to reanimate almost all the lips in the movie to a different language. Does anyone know or have any speculation on what will happen?

Well what did they do for Spirits Within? I didn't watch it but I imagine they'll do the same for Advent children, as they did for Spirits Within. I'm sure it wouldn't take too long for them to change the lip-syncing and even if they don't, it wouldn't be a terrible thing surely?

The story was like... really simple for Spirits Within. Yeah I didn't like it either; I might have had a better opinion of it if I didn't start off with high expectations of it being a "final fantasy" movie (didn't they just call it that so that it'll bring attention or something? I dunno. At least there was a "Cid" in it tongue.gif)

Advent Children though, I just got the trailors to work on the
website, and it looks good smile.gif! I can't wait to see Tifa in action.

Actually, believe it or not the release date is the same for the US as it is for Japan. I know because I'm a manager at gamestop and we have a reserve SKU that says the release date for the US is 9/13/05 (we give it one day after release to ship which makes it the 14th.) So far we only have that date for DVD though. There is no release date for the PSP film as of now.

I could care less about a PSP release date, but I hope FFVII:AC is good at least and in Spirits Within, I noticed they misspelled CId (SiD? geez, could they have at least spelled it correctly.)

Sid is also spelled Sid. It's a common spelling both ways.

Yea. i heard about this movie like late January, er somewhere along dar. Saw some screenshots, read up on it, looks pritty good. Although, in the back of me head, theres still that thing of the movie being a faliure, like "Spirits Within". When i saw Spirits Within, im all like, WTF! is this the kinda crap square has been coming up with, lately? When i saw it, i hadent played any FF games for over 4 maybe 6 years.

But all in all, super stocked about the movie, cause im a huge mother trucker of a FF fan. So PLEASE! Dont fail me!

If you have indeed seen the shots and trailers and teaser videos, you'll know this will be nothing like Spirits Within. Nope, this is gonna not only be like the game, but it's gonna damn ROCK. cool.gif

Stop jerking my tears! Hahaha honestly for the last year and a half I've waited and still we don't know 100%. I hope it comes out soon and I hope it isn't rediculessly priced (and that it isn't just for PSP).

Its not only on the PSP, its also on DVD and it should only be $20, but its square so it will probably be $30-40.

It's 30 dollars. I've already paid for my copy, and as I stated in my post above it is on DVD also. The PSP release is a month after. I'm pretty sure they'll stick with the current date.

I've seen the newest trailer and I must say it looks very interesting, although I'm among the people who think FF7 is over hyped, I'll be sure to buy it when it's released.

Awesome, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing AC. At first I wasn't sure, but I've seen little clips and now I need to see it to decide

As far as I've heard recently it got pushed to November in the US and it's still September in Japan. I'll buy the Japanese version anyway since it'll be better. I just hope it has subtitles.
And by the way, Square-Enix banned Trailers for the movie from every site but their own. Anyone know why?

If you buy the Japanese one, you'd better be able to play import DVDs. happy.gif And I wouldn't expect them to subtitle the DVD, necessarily. Those things are hit or miss.

Hmm.

I'm looking forward to seeing the movie, but not to the point of like.

Cosplaying as the characters.

XD;;

And I like how others mentioned the Final Fantasy: Spirits Within movie.

I actually thought that was the worst movie ever thought of.

It was 'nicely' animated at the time.

But besides that.

It was a complete piece of crap.

IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH FF!

D;

They could have at LEAST done something with the Four Crystals.

Does anyone have a clue as to why they made Sephiroth look so freaky? He always looked really cool in the game. However, Tifa looks just like I would thought she would in life. Also, I think that they made Cloud look younger than he did in the game. Barrett always has looked cool, so did Red XIII.

The only thing that I noticed that The Spirits Within had to do with the games is that it had the "lifestream" at the center of the planet. Or at least the spirit energy. And some of the voice actors that they had to play the characters. Other than that, I was really disappointed with the movie.
