Right now I really like the MMX2 intro stage music.
I also like FFT - Under the stars, that plays during the
fight with Izlude.

I really liked the Cosmo Canyon theme from FFVII 8)
but my absolute favorite is from FFIX during the part where Zidane is trying to leave the group when he finds out what he really is, and they won't let him (It's called "You're not alone" or something like that by the guy who does most of the soundtrack music for many of the games in the series {Nobuo something})

You've asked the impossible oh man of a simian tool.

I can name where some of my favorite music has come from.
(In no particular order)

Lufia 2: Rise of the Sinistrals (a lot let's leave it at that)

FF6 (quite a handful actuallly)

FF4 (a few choice ones)

Xenogears (I laugh, too many good songs to list)

Tales of Phantasia (The intro song!)

FF7 (Shinra music is pretty cool!)

FF10 (FINAL BOSS MUSIC!!! THE SONG IS AWESOME!)

FF5 (only the Giligamesh tune)

Terranigma (only released in Europe and Asia.  It's the sequel to Illusion of Gaia GET IT RIGHT NOW REALLY GOOD GAME!!)

many more...

...my brain hurts...

Phantasy Star III had a very good opening theme. It also had many other numbers worthy of note, and some which I'd rather not hear again.

Also, the opening piece for the original Legend of Zelda was excellent.

I'm particulary fond of the Chrono series music.
Also, I like music performed by the composer who did Star Ocean II and Valkyrie Profile.....um...I don't remember his name.

Too much great music from many different games to list, but most especially FF6 and many other RPGs like Chrono Trigger, Diablo, etc., etc.; also the Deus Ex theme (in game music is good also), Quake II, Q3A...too many to recall in a short time.

Mmm, agreed, Elena.  I play the MP3 a lot.  I also enjoy the theme for when you win a battle and for when you're fighting one of the more important story bosses, such as

The music is equally as important as the storyline in my eyes...

Im just going to give my favorite soundtracks...

Tie between VI and IX.

VI mainly because I was raised on it...

And IX because I think the music is, for lack of a better word, perfect.  There are songs to fit every moment, and when I listen to the soundtrack it brings me back to the game...

Maybe I take my games too seriously... hahaha

Chrono Trigger: Frog and Magus' themes, and the two different Lavos Core themes.

FFVI: all of it, really, but in particular Atma's theme, and the Falcon theme (especially poignant when first rising out of the watery grave... that part of the game, mostly because of the way the music comes in perfectly, still sends pleasant chills down my spine).

The old Zelda theme, and Mario, of course, are classics.

And the Warcraft theme is just fun.

Square makes great music, well I didn't care much for kingdom hearts. Other than Square music I thought CastleVania-symphony of the night had some cool music in it, and Earthbound, the battle music in Earthbound was cool, and the battle backrounds went nice with it.
I also like Diablo 1,StarCraft, and Quake3(dreamcast version) music.

I almost made a new topic for this, but decided to set up Night of the Living Thread again. I'll post a top ten for games...

1. Wicked Child - Castlevania Series
1. Napalm Man - Mega Man 5
1. The Big Bridge (Gilgamesh Theme) - Final Fantasy V
4. Legend of Zelda main theme - Zelda series
5. Sewerage - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
5. Robo's Theme - Chrono Trigger
7. Mad Forest - Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
7. Cosmo Canyon - Final Fantasy VII
9. Nananan Katamari - Katamari Damacy
9. Storm Eagle - Mega Man X

And an elite eight for soundtracks...

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
3. Mega Man 2
4. Final Fantasy IV
5. Donkey Kong Country 2 (the one thing it had on the original was music)
6. Mega Man X
7. Katamari Damacy
8. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

I couldn't decide between a ton of em, hence all the ties. I also feel like a huge tool for having Konami, Capcom, and Square consist of eight of my top ten.

The Serpent Trench theme, FF6. Probably my favourite piece fo videogame music ever. Close behind it, though, is the Megaman 3 Intro theme.

I love the 'Master Sounds' radio station on GTA: San Andreas, but it doesn't really count.

My all-time favorite video game songs make up the following short list, and they all have the distinction of, at some point, being stuck in my head for days...

In no particular order:

- Super Mario Bros. theme (Super Mario Bros. series...duh)
- Dancing Mad (Final Fantasy VI)
- Hyrule Castle theme (The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past)
- Katmari Damacy main theme (Katmari Damacy...duh again)
- Frog's theme (Chono Trigger)

I have several dozen other favs. (just look at my posts in other music threads), but those always come out on top.

FFIV (Sounds)

Warcraft, starcraft, and diablo themes
Chrono trigger
Mario theme

Some of these have already been said, but i am simply agreeing with the other people... thumbup.gif

I like "gothicesque" (for lack of a better word) music in games. Thus, my favorites are
Diablo: Most, if not all
FFVII: The music that plays when you encounter Sephiroth in the Shin-Ra Mansion and One Winged Angel
FFVIII: Ultimecia's castle
FFIX: Kuja's theme

I would also like to make a shout out to some of the music in Metal Gear Solid, and other songs in FF games.

"Thought I was dead, eh? Not until I fulfill my dream!"

Have you heard "Dancing Mad"? I've noticed from some of your posts that you haven't played FFVI, but if "gothicesque" is your thing then you can't go wrong with that song.

And yes, there's always time to plug one of my favorite tunes. tongue.gif

And in my previous post I forgot to list the Metroid and Legend of Zelda main themes. How in the world could I forget those?!

If you like "gothicesque" music, then you have to play some Castlevania. The NES stuff is the classic lively video game music, and Symphony of the Night is darker, more atmospheric tunes. Check it out.
