I have not played in quite a while. I have a Dark Angels Raven Wing Army.
If I ever get another army, I will most likely go for Orks, which are extremely different I know. So many of the teams appeal to me. -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Quote (fatman @ 26th May 2005 19:37) If I ever get another army, I will most likely go for Orks, which are extremely different I know. So many of the teams appeal to me. It's Armies, or Races. It confuses the uber-vet players who were around in the days of bloodbowl (When FF6 wasn't even out!) , dontcher know? And for thier sakes, don't say gangs either, they'll never figure out what game you meant! ![]() (Bloodbowl, for those who don't know, was a board game using races from ordinary warhammer, but rather than fighting, they played rugby/american football too! Most infamous for Orc and Ogre cheerleaders from what I've heard.) I play Tau, Eldar, Chaos, and Space Wolves. I've played for about seven/eight years, and have gone well into the stage of 'elitist demiveteran looney' and have begun pondering exactly where all these newbies asking 'why fore wraithlords izn't aloud ina 1000pt match for mi eldar teamz,' and, instead of actual evidence or basis to back my theory, have chosen to blame the LOTR games. I'm rather concerned by some recent developments of GW's, namely the fact Codex Creeps coming head on, and the things most sorely in need of an update are not getting it untill Black Templars get thiers, very annoying considering that it's rumoured they're condesning all Eldar into one big codex, whilst all the Space Marine sub-groups not only get shiny new minis, but a new codex each. Oh well, thats my mindless ranting over. -------------------- "Only the dead have seen the end of their quotes being misattributed to Plato." -George Santayana "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here..." -Abraham Lincoln, prior to the discovery of Irony. |

I don't know what the prices are like for you guys in the US but the one thing that really puts me off this game here in the UK is the very high prices! And they're still going up!
![]() If only money was no object. It seems I must stick to computer games until I have vasts amounts of money. And I do so enjoy painting the models (though I'm not exactly great, lol). -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |

Hmm, looks like I'm going to be in character with this thread for a while then... IE never shutting up about 40k.
The money argument has raged for years. But I look at it this way: The £150 you spend on a 1500pt army that provides possibly years of use and entertainment, compared to the £150 spent on 3-5 videogames that provides maybe six months entertainment including their replay value in most cases, balances it out. Obviously, it's different with some types of games like RPG's, sim strategys, and the like, but the thign is, 40k is essetnially those games as well. It's actually a little more economical and better value for money than the short-lived FPS's and Beat-em-ups that are only really adding a little bit more of thier longevity with online gameplay, but they mostly cost either the internet bill or the fee to actually play them, so the work out even LESS. Oh, and US Prices are about the same, with a marginally higher price in some cases from what I recall, but despite my earlier 'more economical' thing I'm STILL miffed it'll cost me £18 to get more Fire Warriors. Hmm, you do make a good argument but the thing is, at the moment, I very rarely get to play a game. If I get a lot more chances to play games, i.e. I meet more people who play it, I move nearer to a Games Worshop, or one opens up near me, then I will have to say, it will be a lot more worth it! And I will leap in for some fun battles.
![]() I am confident that at some point in the future I will get to play a lot more games. Hurray! I usually found space marine armies easy to defeat with my Chaos army, considering I had a Blood Thirster that could make mince meat of them! -------------------- 'Let that be a lesson to all oppressive vegetable sellers.' |
